What are the main signs that Jesus in the Olivet Discourse and John in Revelation revealed about the time of Jesus second coming: 1. Israel had to be reborn as a nation in its homeland as all the end times prophecies are Israel and Jerusalem centric. Prior to 1948 none made sense as Israel as a nation did not exist. 2. Daniel was told to close up the book of Daniel as it revealed what would unfold in the future when God would regather the Jews from where He had scattered them and their Messiah would rule and reign the nations of the world from a magnificent new Jerusalem. The end times prophecies in Daniel and Revelation are now in play. 3. In the end times the Bible reveals that the Muslim nations surrounding Israel will do their utmost to destroy it: In the six day war Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon were the main protagonists but Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Sudan , Morocco, Tunisia, Kuwait and Yemen provided troops, aircraft, or logistical aid to the coalition, but their forces did not see significant frontline action against Israel. Since then Iran with its proxies Hamas. Hezbollah and Houthi rebels are the main protagonists. The Bible has Turkey leading the way in a war against Israel and recent events support this prophecy playing out in the new future. 4, end times signs such as church apostasy, persecution of Christians, lawlessness, antisemitism are all evident in our day.
“Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from all around, and bring them to their own land.And I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. And one king shall be king over them all, and they shall be no longer two nations, and no longer divided into two kingdoms. They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols and their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions. But I will save them from all the backslidings in which they have sinned and will cleanse them, and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.” Ezekiel 37:21-23
In an upscale Tel Aviv neighbourhood – the kind filled with joggers, beach bars and hotels that attract wealthy holidaymakers – Tahli Engel, formerly of Melbourne, tells a story you hear a lot in Israel, and it captures one of the most important, but least understood, perspectives emerging from the wars triggered by October 7. “Life in Melbourne, absolutely, was very good,” she says from her living room. These aren’t refugees. They’re millennials and Gen Z professionals making a bet about where they can live as fully expressed Jews in the 21st century. Americans are doing the same. I’m like, if this is where I’m studying, this is not a place that I want to be at.” Here, he walks the streets feeling “as safe as I’ve ever been. A lot of people have moved from around the globe to Israel, especially because they just don’t feel safe where they are”. Consider the irony for a moment. Young Jews are fleeing ostensibly peaceful Western democracies for a country that just fought a multi-front war and endured the sight of buildings being toppled by Iranian hypersonic missiles, because they feel more secure walking the streets of Tel Aviv than Brunswick or Newtown.
This is just another proof that Biblical end times prophecies can be trusted and that God is control of history. Joel was God’s spokes person during the reign of Joash (835-796 BC) over the southern kingdom of Judah. Joel stresses the sovereign power of God over nature and shows how God uses nature to get the attention of the people. When an ominous black cloud descended upon the land of Judah – dreaded locusts, Joel understood that it was God’s terrible judgement on the House of Judah for sin. In a matter of hours , every living green thing had been stripped bare. Likewise we should understand that when terrible floods and fires descend upon our land that it may well be the judgement of the Lord for sin, e.g. transgenderism, LGBTQ issues, gay marriage and godless laws.
For us Joel is an important book, because God showed him that as terrible as His judgement was with the locust plague it was by comparison nothing compared with God’s future judgements during “The Day of the Lord“. It will be a time when God not only destroys His enemies but He also brings unparalleled blessings to those who faithfully obey Him.
Biblical prophecy reveals that “The Day of the Lord” is fast approaching as persecution of Christians and Jews escalates and apostasy in the church is rampant with acceptance of homosexual pastors and gay marriage widespread.
The Hebrew name Yo’el means “Yahweh Is God” The name is appropriate to the theme of the book, which emphasizes God’s sovereign work in history. The courses of nature and nations are in His hand.

What we see unfolding fits Biblical end times prophecies and whilst Syria is not directly mentioned as one of the nations that come up against Israel in end times prophecies, we know God judges Damascus from these Scriptures. Also we know from Scripture Turkey is one of the nations to come against Israel and Turkey is taking a lead role in rebuilding Syria with Ashara.
“Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a heap of ruins… The fortress will disappear from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus; and the remnant of Syria will be like the glory of the children of Israel, declares the Lord of hosts.“ Isaiah 17:1-3
“For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they have threshed Gilead with threshing sledges of iron. So I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the strongholds of Ben-hadad. I will break the gate-bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of Aven, and him who holds the scepter from Beth-eden; and the people of Syria shall go into exile to Kir,” says the Lord.” Amos 1:3-5
The house of Hazael and the strongholds (or palaces) of Ben-Hadad referenced in this verse (Amos 1:4) were located in the ancient kingdom of Aram-Damascus, cantered on the city of Damascus, which is in modern-day Syria.

“Jacob’s Trouble” (also called “the time of Jacob’s trouble”) is a specific biblical phrase found in Jeremiah 30:7:
“Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it; it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.” (NKJV)
Biblical Context
The entire chapter of Jeremiah 30 is a prophecy of hope given to Israel and Judah during their exile in Babylon. God promises:
To restore them from captivity
To break the yoke of foreign oppression
To bring them back to their land under their own king (ultimately fulfilled in the Messiah)
To heal and prosper them again
However, before this full restoration comes, Israel (referred to here as “Jacob,” using the patriarch’s original name) will go through an unprecedented period of suffering and distress.
Key Characteristics of “Jacob’s Trouble”
Uniqueness and Severity
“That day is great, so that none is like it” (Jeremiah 30:7) – it is unparalleled in history.
Jesus quotes similar language in the Olivet Discourse: “For then there will begreat tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:21), linking the two passages.
Focused on Israel/Jacob
The trouble is specifically called “Jacob’s” (not the church’s or the world’s in general), indicating it primarily affects the Jewish people and the nation of Israel.
Other Old Testament passages describe the same period using different names:
“The indignation” (Isaiah 26:20; Daniel 11:36)
“The time of trouble” (Daniel 12:1)
“The day of the Lord”
“The seventieth week of Daniel” (Daniel 9:27)
“The great tribulation” (Matthew 24:21; Revelation 7:14)
Deliverance at the End
Jeremiah 30:7 ends with hope: “…but he [Jacob/Israel] shall be saved out of it.”
Daniel 12:1 says Michael the archangel will stand up for Israel, and “at that time your people shall be delivered.”
Zechariah 13–14 and Romans 11:25–29 describe Israel’s national repentance and acceptance of the Messiah at the end of this period.
In short, “Jacob’s Trouble” is widely understood in prophetic studies as the Bible’s term for an unparalleled future time of distress centred on the Jewish people, out of which God will ultimately deliver and restore a repentant Israel when the Messiah returns and establishes His Millennial Kingdom
The Bible reveals this Earth’s history is young, not billions of years old as the theory of evolution would lead us to believe. Despite there being billions of dead things buried whole throughout the world, which must have been buried quickly to be whole, as well, enormous amounts of fossil fuels formed from buried vegetation, the scientists of the world deny the Biblical flood of Noah’s day, because it does not align with their naturalist view of the world forming itself over billions of years. The Bible reveals that Noah’s flood was a catastrophic event that changed the entire geomorphology of the planet.
Biblical history reveals that Satan has had 6,000 years to rule over the Earth. Jesus will soon have 1,000 years to rule and reign with the glorified Saints, Satan and I assume his demons are bound during Jesus reign
“And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.” Revelation 20:2-3
Nevertheless, we are told Jesus and the Saints rule with a rod of iron during the Millennium as the curse is only partially lifted, mainly in Israel, so people are still being born, still sin, and die. Moreover, at the end of the Millennium, Satan is released and he still raises an army like the sand of the sea.
“And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them.”Revelation 20:7-9

Finally, after 7,000 years, this Earth’s history is complete and God destroys the Earth with fire, The second resurrection of the dead takes place before Jesus White Throne judgement. Only after the White Throne judgement does the apostle John see a magnificent and enormous new Jerusalem descending from a new heaven onto a new earth where only the righteous dwell with both our heavenly Father and Jesus.

And behold, the half was not told me. Your wisdom and prosperity surpass the report that I heard. Happy are your men! Happy are your servants, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom! Blessed be the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and set you on the throne of Israel!” 1 Kings 10:4-9
