THE DEATH OF MORAL JUDGEMENT – BIBLICAL PROPHECY REVEALS JESUS SOON RETURNS TO RESTORE RIGHTEOUSNESS

When every perpetrator is explained, contextualised and rehabilitated, the victims become an inconvenient detail. We live in an age that has become strangely embarrassed by the existence of evil, and people call good evil and evil good (Isaiah 5:20).

Consider Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts mother who does not deny killing her three children. She claims she was suffering from postpartum psychosis. Now, I’m not saying mental illness isn’t real. I’m not saying courts shouldn’t take mental illness into account. But something rather peculiar has happened outside the court where Lindsay Clancy is on trial.

From Perpetrator to Icon: The Lindsay Clancy Case

Clancy has become, in some circles, a feminist symbol — a kind of patron saint of the oppressed mother. And every day, crowds of women dressed in pink have gathered outside the court to yell support for the mum who killed her kids.

Cora, aged 5, Dawson, aged 3 and little 8-month-old Callen were strangled to death by their mum… and yet this perverse display of compassion finds perfectly sane women rooting for the woman who killed them. This is what happens when a civilisation loses the vocabulary of evil. We stop asking, Who did what? and start asking, What social forces made them do it? The perpetrator becomes a patient. Then a victim. Then, if the political conditions are right, an icon. And once evil has been sufficiently contextualised, there is nothing left to condemn.

A society that can’t distinguish between policeman and criminal, victim and perpetrator, innocence and guilt, eventually becomes incapable of defending the innocent. Compassion is a virtue. Understanding is a virtue. Mental-health treatment is a virtue. But compassion without moral judgment is sloppy sentimentality. And sentimentality is a remarkably poor defence against evil. Evil doesn’t disappear because we stop calling it evil. It just becomes harder to stop.

The circumstances that exist in the world today, lawlessness and apostasy in many of the denominational churches, that have abandoned the inerrancy and authority of the Bible, line up with Biblical end times prophecies. Tribulation is ahead for those who proclaim the truth about God and His commandments, and that Jesus is the only way back to a relationship with our Heavenly Father.

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24: 9-14

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

ABANDONMENT OF RURAL AUSTRALIA IS FUELLING A FOOD CRISIS

After more than two centuries of living off “golden soil and wealth for toil”, feeding itself and millions of people overseas, Australia is facing an agricultural Armageddon that is fast approaching. My last post was “Australia Has Abandoned Its Christian Foundations” and now we are facing food shortages.

Overseas, severe drought and freeze damage push U.S. winter wheat to historic lows, threatening yields, commodity prices, and the broader agricultural supply chain. Ukraine is a key producer and exporter of food staples, such as wheat and maize. Some 90% of its wheat exports went to Africa and Asia between 2016 and 2021, supporting food security in some of the most disadvantaged regions of the world. The global food supply remains insecure as the war and Russia’s blockage of the Black Sea ports reduces Ukraine’s ability to export grain and foodstuff to the global market.

For so long, as Australian farmers have fed and clothed the nation, there has been so much abundance, allowing for seemingly ever-increasing exports of excess food and fibre, with always rising value, that along with mining have formed the foundation of the economy. Such bounty has given rise to the boast that we feed 80 million people.

But despite high prices for exports and recent strong rains boosting crops, the reality is our agricultural production, as opposed to value, particularly in the national Murray-Darling Basin food bowl, is flatlining.

What’s more, population growth, agricultural water short­ages and the alienation of arable land have combined to raise the spectre that Australia could become a net importer in some areas of basic foods during the next decade.

Based on figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences, the projected shortfalls for basic food production on annual per capita consumption by 2040 include 47 per cent for pork, 40 per cent for butter, 21 per cent for eggs, 16 per cent for apples, 15 per cent for chicken, 14 per cent for rice and 7 per cent for cheese.

There are even less conservative estimates that suggest Australia could become a net importer of food and fibre by 2037.

Famines along with earthquakes are two of the end times signs given by Jesus in the Olivet Discourse. I have written on earthquakes in recent posts as a result of recent severe earthquake activity in Venezuela and Columbia.

“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.” Matthew 24:7

Hunger is at crisis levels in countries across the globe – but where is food insecurity highest? According to the latest UN Hunger Hotspots (June-November 2026), the countries most at risk of hunger are:

  • Countries with highest concern:  Nigeria, Palestine, Sudan, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen
  • Countries with very high concern:  Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti 
  • Other hunger hotspots: Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar

HOW LONG TILL THE END? CAN WE KNOW?

In Daniel’s final vision (Daniel 12:5-13), the question is posed, “How long until the end?” Alistair Begg explains that the response to this question is marked by gravity (gravitas – seriousness), mystery, and certainty. Moreover, he highlights what we can know with clarity: that the people of God will endure to the end. Just as Daniel did not understand all that this prophecy meant, we will not be able to fully comprehend it until it is fulfilled. We are called to carry on for God’s glory, aware of our mortality and clinging to the promise of rising in Him. Alistair Begg is a sincere Bible presenter and he does a good job with Daniel and a difficult topic. Each of us need like Daniel to get on with the job God has given us and “Go your way Daniel” but for us Biblical prophecy reveals it is the time of the end so there is now an urgency about doing the job God has called us to do.

“How long shall it be till the end of these wonders?” And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream; he raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven and swore by him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time, and that when the shattering of the power of the holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished. I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said, “O my lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?” He said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end.: Daniel 12:6-9

HOPE, PATIENCE AND PRAYER ARE NEEDED IN THESES LAST DAYS

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12

Romans 12:12 is part of Paul’s sustained teaching on transformed community life. In Romans 12:9–21, Paul fires off a rapid series of characteristics of genuine love, and in verse 12 this compressed triad of joyful hope, patient affliction, and faithful prayer.

Each of the three is a pairing of disposition and circumstance. Joy paired with hope — the joy is not in the present situation but in the future certainty. Patience paired with affliction — the patience is not avoidance but endurance within the hard thing. Faithfulness paired with prayer — not prayer as inspiration strikes, but disciplined, ongoing, faithful practice. The three together form a sustainable way of moving through whatever life brings: looking forward (hope), leaning into the present (patience), and staying connected to God through it all (prayer).

As we are in the last days before Jesus returns to restore righteousness He has told us that tribulation is ahead for believers that will refine His church and preserve the remnant. We will need hope, patience and prayer and empowerment by the Holy Spirit to remain faithful through this testing period.

Across Australia and the rest of the Western world, Christians are increasingly finding themselves treated as unwelcome because of their beliefs. Social hostility is growing simply for holding to traditional Christian convictions. How should Christians respond?

For generations, the foundations of Western civilisation were deeply shaped by Christianity. Its teachings influenced our understanding of human dignity, charity, justice, morality, and the belief that every person is created with inherent worth because they bear the image of God. Churches stood at the centre of communities, Scripture shaped public life, and Christian beliefs were not viewed as something strange or dangerous, but as a vital part of the cultural fabric of the West.

But something has changed.

Across Western nations, Christianity is no longer simply being questioned — it is increasingly being rejected, ridiculed, and pushed towards the margins of society. The beliefs that shaped generations are now often portrayed as outdated, harmful, or incompatible with the modern world. For many Christians, the concern is not that society has different opinions. Disagreement has always existed. The concern is that the conversation itself is changing.

A society that once encouraged debate is increasingly moving towards dismissal. A society that once allowed competing ideas to exist side by side is becoming more hostile towards certain beliefs (Christian and Jewish). And for many Christians, the question is becoming unavoidable: what happens when a culture no longer wants to debate Christianity, but wants Christians to remain silent?

This is the reality many believers feel they are facing today and we should not be surprised as Jesus warned us this would happen prior to His return to restore righteousness.
