DENZEL WASHINGTON SHARES A POWERFUL TESTIMONY

Denzel Washington, the celebrated actor known for his powerful performances in films like Gladiator II, embraced a deeply personal milestone on Saturday as he was baptised and received his minister’s license at Kelly Temple in New York City.

Kelly Temple Church Of God In Christ has been in the community of Harlem for over seventy-five years. Its Statement of Faith is sound: We believe the Bible to be God’s inspired and only infallible written Word. We believe that there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ. We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for personal salvation. We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer. We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it. We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in the present world.

Addressing the congregation with humility and gratitude, the 69-year-old actor shared: “It took a while, but I’m finally here. If [God] can do this for me, there’s nothing He can’t do for you. The sky literally is the limit”, as reported by Geo News.

Dressed modestly in a gray T-shirt and black sweatpants, Denzel posed for photos holding his minister’s license and baptism certificate, marking a moment of profound transformation.

This spiritual milestone follows Washington’s candid remarks about his faith during a recent interview with Esquire in November. Reflecting on his beliefs in an industry often hesitant to discuss religion, he stated: “When you see me, you see the best I could do with what I’ve been given by my Lord and Saviour. I’m unafraid. I don’t care what anyone thinks.”

He continued, Faith isn’t often talked about in Hollywood. It’s not fashionable or sexy. But that doesn’t mean people here don’t believe.” Washington dismissed assumptions about Hollywood’s collective stance on faith, adding, “There’s no ‘Church Actor Meetings.’ Faith is personal, and I carry mine openly.

Washington’s wife of 41 years, Pauletta Washington, also spoke emotionally during the ceremony, expressing her pride in her husband’s spiritual journey.

“Forty-six years later, here I’m still standing next to him as only God will have it,” she said, adding, “You are the head of our house, and you have set a great example for our children, who are now adults and understand the difference because we’ve shown them.”

“Denzel and Pauletta have four children: John, 40, Katia, 37, and twins Olivia and Malcolm, 33.

Pray that God will use Denzel Washington mightily as he seeks to build God’s Kingdom here on earth.

POWERFUL TESTIMONY BY DENZEL WASHINGTON

Actor Denzel Washington does not mince words when it comes to his faith in God. And in a recent interview with the New York Times, Washington reiterated that he is a “God-fearing man” while also warning people to not become too self-focused.

“This is spiritual warfare. So, I’m not looking at it from an earthly perspective,” he said in the interview. “If you don’t have a spiritual anchor you’ll be easily blown by the wind and you’ll be led to depression.”

As CBN News has reported, Washington gave his life to God early on, but it took a few years for him to understand the weight of that decision.

“Three times…I think we all go through that. I was filled with the Holy Ghost and it scared me,” he said. “I didn’t want to go this deep…I want to party. It was a supernatural, once in this lifetime experience that I couldn’t completely understand at the time.”

Now, the 64-year-old actor lives out his tenets of faith daily.

“I’m a God-fearing man,” he told NYT. “I try not to worry. Fear is contaminated faith.”

Washington goes out of his way to help others and encourage them.

Actor Corey Hawkins, who plays opposite of Denzel in “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” told the New York Times the actor prays with him. “Sometimes we get talking and you see the preacher in him,” he said. “He’s just a natural-born charismatic leader who is not afraid to talk about his own faults or misgivings or shortcomings.”

Washington has become more outspoken about the pitfalls of social media. “The least we can do is consider what we have done and think about the young people,” the two-time Academy Award-winning actor said. He also recently shared scripture encouraging people not to get too focused on social media.

“The Bible says in the last days — I don’t know if it’s the last days, it’s not my place to know — but it says we’ll be lovers of ourselves,” he said. “The No. 1 photograph today is a selfie, ‘Oh, me at the protest.’ ‘Me with the fire.’ ‘Follow me.’ ‘Listen to me.’”

“We’re living in a time where people are willing to do anything to get followed. What is the long or short-term effect of too much information? It’s going fast and it can be manipulated obviously in a myriad of ways. And people are led like sheep to the slaughter,” Washington added.

His focus has become more heaven-bound.

“There are going to be two lines, the long line, and the short line, and I’m interested in being in the short line.”

During his American Film Institute Life Achievement Award acceptance speech, he was outspoken about His faith in God. Hopefully, it impacted some of the Hollywood stars present. He also warned against the “twitter-tweet meme-mean world that we’ve created for our children.” Be encouraged and challenged.

PUT GOD FIRST SAYS DENZEL WASHINGTON

Denzel Washington received a prophesy in his mother’s beauty salon in 1987. In the video below, he relates, it changed his life and has proved to be true. The prophesy said, he would travel the world and be a witness for God and the GOSPEL.

He is still witnessing powerfully for God today. “PUT GOD FIRST IN EVERYTHING YOU DO” is how he starts his speech to graduate students at Dillard University. Take a look, it is a wonderful witness to students about to start work in this increasingly chaotic world.

This is the second post I have put on livingeternal.net showing Denzel Washington witnessing to God’s goodness and faithfulness. The love of God is the reason why Denzel is such a faithful witness but let me tell you he is building up treasure in heaven, which is eternal.
