IS IRAN (ANCIENT PERSIA) THE TWO HORNED RAM OF DANIEL 8?

Gabriel himself told Daniel that the vision concerned the end times. He did not say that part of the vision was historical and part of it was future. He simply said that the vision concerned the time of the end and then repeated it.

“Son of man (Daniel), understand that the vision pertains to the time of the end.” (Daniel 8:17).

Behold, I (Gabriel) am going to let you (Daniel) know what will occur at the final period of the indignation, for it pertains to the appointed time of the end.” (Daniel 8:19).

Then in Daniel 8:20 “The ram which you (Daniel) saw, having the two horns—they are the kings of Media and Persia.”

There is no doubt that the modern nation of Iran geographical encompasses the three ancient peoples mentioned in Daniel – Medes, Elam and Persians.

Mark Davidson in his book Iran’s Great Invasion suggests the two horns are represented by the two power bases existing in Iran today: the Ayatollah is the supreme leader, the political power but the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps is the military power.

Daniel describes the second horn growing up later and stronger which describes the IRGC precisely e.g. former President Ahmadinejad awarded two-thirds of the cabinet positions to former IRGC commanders.

Daniel tells us that the ram will run out (invade): north, west and south and it even tells us the starting point Susa on the border of Iran and Iraq.

WEST – Syria: Already, we know that Iran has military in Syria -The Islamic Republic of Iran has conducted an extensive, expensive, and integrated effort to keep President Bashar al-Assad in power as long as possible while setting conditions to retain its ability to use Syrian territory and assets to pursue its regional interests should Assad fall. The deployment of IRGC Ground Forces to conflict abroad is a notable expansion of Iran’s willingness and ability to project military force beyond its borders.

WEST – Lebanon:  The Shiite militia known as Hezbollah was created by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to be an Iranian proxy, nominally “resisting” Israel, but in fact resisting the normal governance of Lebanon by its people. After more than 30 years, Hezbollah is still in Lebanon, sacrificing lives, resisting democracy, dictating foreign policy and corrupting the true Lebanese Armed Forces. Since the 2006 war with Israel, Hezbollah has rearmed dramatically, with an estimated 150,000 missiles, including short-range Katyusha-type rockets and thousands of medium-range missiles capable of striking Tel Aviv. In November of last year, the Saudi-supported prime minister of Lebanon, Saad Hariri, in a broadcast from Riyadh announced his resignation, blaming Iran’s “grip” on his country via Shiite movement Hezbollah.

WEST – Iraq:  Iran has effectively won the struggle to dominate the future of Iraq. It has done so against the formidable Shi’ite Arab populace, and after nearly a month of raw pressure, manipulations, special operations, threats and cajoling. The Iraqi election of May 12, 2018 — the catalyst for the Iranian intervention — was but the harbinger of a greater threat looming. Thus — even as the final election results are still being challenged, calculated, manipulated, and abused — the key outcome is clear: The future government in Baghdad will be dominated by pro-Iran Shi’ites.

WEST – Israel: 

Hamas’ new leader, Yehiyeh Sinwar,  in the Gaza Strip said Monday his group has repaired relations with Iran after a five-year rift and is using its newfound financial and military aid to gear up for new hostilities with Israel.

“Today, the relationship with Iran is excellent, or very excellent,” Sinwar said. He added that the Islamic Republic is “the largest backer financially and militarily” to Hamas’ military wing.

The announcement  came as U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was visiting Israel. At a meeting with the U.N. chief, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu complained about what he called rising anti-Israel activity by Iran and its allies in the region.

In his meeting with Guterres, Netanyahu alleged Iran is building sites in Syria and Lebanon to produce “precision-guided missiles” to be used against Israel.

Israel and Iran are bitter enemies, and Israel has recently expressed concern that Iran and its Lebanese proxy Hezbollah are seeking a permanent military presence in Syria near the Israeli border. Both Hezbollah fighters and Iran have backed Assad’s forces in the Syrian war.

“Iran is busy turning Syria into a base of military entrenchment, and it wants to use Syria and Lebanon as war-fronts against its declared goal to eradicate Israel,” Netanyahu said. “This is something Israel cannot accept. This is something the U.N. should not accept.”

SOUTH – Saudi Arabia: The “Cold War” between Middle East rivals Saudi Arabia and Iran has been heating up.

The Sunni-Shiite divide between Saudi Arabia and Tehran is a crucial factor in conflicts between the two countries.

Religious tensions have heightened since the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq that brought the majority Shiites to power in Baghdad instead of Saddam’s Sunni-dominated regime.

Sunni powerhouse Saudi Arabia and Iran, the predominant Shiite power, have a long-standing rivalry based as much in geo-strategic interests as religious differences. Facing off across the Gulf, the two energy-rich powers have for decades stood on opposing sides of conflicts in the Middle East.

The Iranian revolution of 1979 and the advent of the Islamic Republic — with its fiercely anti-American slant — were perceived as a double threat to the conservative Sunni monarchies of the Arabian Peninsula, allied with the United States.

Saudi Arabia was a key financial backer of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein during his 1980-1988 war with Iran. With Iraq weakened following the 1991 Gulf War, Saudi Arabia and Iran became “the two main regional powers,” said Clement Therme, a researcher at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

The latest round of tensions began when Riyadh and Tehran broke off diplomatic relations in January 2016, after Iranians stormed Saudi Arabia’s embassy and consulate in response to the execution of a prominent Shiite cleric.

On the first weekend of November, the animosity reached new heights, Saudi Arabia said its air defences near Riyadh intercepted and destroyed a missile fired from Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition is battling Iran-backed Shiite rebels.

The Bible is primarily a book of prophecy with a major emphasis on Jesus first and especially His second coming. It tells us the events that will happen next.
Iran’s (the ram) time centre stage is brief.

And I saw him confronting the ram; he was moved with rage against him, attacked the ram, and broke his two horns. There was no power in the ram to withstand him, but he cast him down to the ground and trampled him; and there was no one that could deliver the ram from his hand.” Daniel 8:6-7

TIME TO REDEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO GOD

Listen to Jonathan on the prophetic significance of Hanukkah for us. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. As the world darkens, we need to ask ourselves, what have we let in that has defiled the temple?

Jesus said, “I have called you to be a light to the nations so My salvation can go to the ends of the earth”. Is our light still shining bright.

Arise, shine; for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has come upon you. Isaiah 60:1

Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16

As the darkness in the world increases we must shine more brightly in these last days.

Recognise the anti-christian spirit already active in the world today which will prepare the world for the Antichrist. In response, we need to become more radical for God, for Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit. We must be bold and courageous in speaking God’s Word, regardless of the consequences.

Costco has put the Bible in the category-FICTION. How could this happen and what further compromise will we and the church make? It is a world and a church in apostasy. Biblical morality will be subject to more persecution. Will we take a stand for God, in truth, under persecution? Remember, the saints of old were forged out of the fires of persecution.

200 CHRISTIANS MURDERED IN PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA

In a 60-hour killing spree about 200 Christians were slaughtered in Plateau State even as the U.S. ambassador at large for International Religious Freedom, Sam Brownback was departing Nigeria.

Sam Brownback’s one-week visit was pockmarked with six suicide bombings by Boko Haram in one day (the largest single day detonations), deadly Shiite clashes with the police, altercations between local Muslims and a community, and continuing killings by Muslim Fulani Herdsmen.

 

The grand finale of this perfect storm of violence was the triple-digit massacre in Plateau State. 

Overnight, I have been inundated with photos too gruesome to share here of horribly mutilated bodies of children hacked to death and even after death for maximal horror effect, charred corpses and bodies stacked in mass graves.

Already the Fulani have justified this heinous crime against humanity.

The sad thing is this is not the first time, nor will it be the last. In 2012 when Fulani massacred over 60 Christian villagers in Plateau State, an executive of the same cattle-rearing group said the same thing.

Worse still, some of the communities attacked this weekend were attacked previously. One community was part of the notorious 2010 Dogo Na Hawa Massacre in which 500 Christians were killed.

That massacre eight years ago spurred me to launch the “Justice For Jos” project that has evolved to covering Boko Haram atrocities. Ironically, the Herdsmen atrocities have continued unabated while Boko Haram hogged the spotlight.

We hear reports that authorities have ordered mass burials to hide the true casualties.

In amongst the horror, a kind-hearted and brave Muslim cleric told the BBC how he saved about 262 Christians from being killed in the last attack in villages in Plateau State by suspected Fulani herdsmen. He said “upon seeing victims fleeing from suspected herdsmen who attacked Nghar Yelwa village, I opened the door of the mosque and hid them.”

SEX MATTERS: HOW MODERN FEMINISM LOST TOUCH WITH SCIENCE, LOVE AND COMMONSENSE

 Mona Charen is a well-known conservative author, columnist and speech writer who has spoken out about the dangers of modern feminism and the transgender identity push on children. But what many might not know about her is that at one point in her childhood, she wanted people to call her “Timmy.””I shudder to think what would have happened if I had come along a little later in history,” Charen told The Christian Post during an interview this week about her book, Sex Matters: How Modern Feminism Lost Touch With Science, Love and Common Sense.In her book, Charen explains how second-wave feminists had argued for years about how the differences between men and women were a result of social construct and conditioning.

“Overall, [their view of] sex differences has been debunked by scientific research in the last decades. We know so much more now about brain structure and organization, about the influence of hormones, about certain basic hardwire differences between male and female brains as well as bodies,” the 61-year-old author said. “The idea that everything that is different about man and women being a result of socialization has been shown to be wrong. That is where the science has caught up with them.”

Instead of acknowledging the scientific findings, Charen said, dishonest feminists sought to “change the vocabulary.”

“They stopped talking about there being no difference between the sexes and they started talking about gender,” she said. “They said, ‘Well, there are many genders and gender is subjective and it can’t be measured by hormones and chromosomes. They really just kind of, with sleight of hand and language, they avoided the scientific debunking of their pet theories about people being identical.”

The movement to change such language is also playing out at the public school level. Most recently, a school board in Virginia voted to change the language in its middle school and high school sex-ed curriculum to scrub out the phrase “biological sex” and replace it with “sex assigned at birth.”

“There are even parents now who are declining to assign a sex to their babies. They don’t want to tell people whether they had a boy or a girl. They are saying they are going to find out as the child develops what sex it is,” she said. “I regard this as the logical endpoint of the feminist’s wrong ideas of the 1970s that everything is socially constructed. That is where we have arrived.” “We have arrived at a place where we are now investing a lot into the idea of gender identity — which I am not even sure is a thing,” Charen continued. “They are investing a lot in the idea that this is all purely subjective.”

In Charen’s view, she doesn’t have a problem with adults who want to go through with gender transition procedures and therapies because it is a “free country” and “people can do whatever they want.”

“But I think it is really dangerous, just based on a theory about sexuality, to begin giving massive hormone-blocking injections to prepubescent children and to mess with their psyche’s by … cutting [a girl’s] hair in a boy’s fashion and putting [a girl] in boy’s clothing and treating her as a boy,” Charen stressed. “Kids go through phases. Some girls are very masculine and they are still girls. Some boys are very feminine but they are still boys. The notion that you would interfere with that is really scary. Children are not capable of making such life-altering, drastic decisions for themselves, certainly not when they are preschoolers. I find this whole thing very, very dangerous.”

Charen is right it is dangerous and clear evidence we are in the last days. God will not tolerate the wickedness that is being done to children. It is, as in “the days of Noah when wickedness abounded”, the time when Jesus will return to rule and reign and righteousness will be restored.

BILL WHATCOTT FACES TWO YEARS IN PRISON FOR PASSING OUT JESUS SAVES PAMPHLETS AT GAY PRIDE PARADE

A Christian bus driver in Toronto has been charged with a “hate crime” for distributing pamphlets saying homosexuality can lead to diseases and that Jesus can save gay people if they repent.

Bill Whatcott “distributed anti-gay material which promoted hatred toward the gay community,” Toronto Police Service said in a statement, adding that he was arrested in Calgary and later returned to Toronto.

The 51-year-old Christian man was charged with “willful promotion of hatred against an identifiable group, namely the gay community.”

The pamphlets he allegedly distributed said homosexuality is associated with sexually transmitted diseases, including HPV of the rectum, which the U.S. Centers for Disease Control says is true, according to The Federalist.

The pamphlets, which reportedly included negative remarks against the Liberal Party and left-wing politicians, also said that supporting homosexual acts without repentance could lead to “eternal peril,” and repentance to “the free gift of eternal life.” However, reports say that the pamphlets neither encouraged hate against homosexuals, nor advocated violence.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a Roman Catholic, became the world’s first national leader to march in a gay pride parade when he took part in Toronto’s event.

Whatcott, who has been fired from his job, said he wasn’t given food for 24 hours while in jail, according to The Daily Wire.

“It might have been on purpose, because it didn’t happen, like — some inmates did go half a day without food — but they actually made me go a full 24 hours,” he was quoted as saying.

He said he was also denied medical attention for a leg injury. “I had a leg infection, and it was bad enough that I was brought to the hospital, but they simply refused to fill the prescriptions. So for four days I had no medications. The infection was actually going up my leg. I was a little concerned it was gonna go systemic.”

Hopefully, Bill was able to maintain an eternal perspective and be encouraged by these Scriptures:

“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.” Matthew 5:11

“If you are insulted and reviled for the name of Christ , blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you . On their part He is blasphemed , but on your part He is glorified.” 1 Peter 4:14

Trudeau has also supported Canada’s embrace of same-sex marriage, which stands against the Catholic Church’s definition of marriage between one man and one woman.

Months later that year, a poll showed that the majority of Canadians supported the expansion of the country’s non-discrimination laws to include gender identity. The Angus Reid Institute survey was conducted four months after Trudeau’s Liberal Party introduced a bill that would punish transgender discrimination with up to two years in prison for violators. Earlier this year, Ontario Province started allowing individuals born there to remove “male” or “female” on their birth certificates or opt for a “nonbinary” designation.

 

 

TRANSHUMANISM – WICKEDNESS ABOUNDS

If you start looking into this movement, you will quickly discover that the word “transhuman” literally means “beyond human”. Transhumanists believe that it is time for humanity to take control of our own evolution. By editing our DNA and merging with technology, they believe that “post-humans” can become far superior to the humans of today.

The aims of the transhumanist movement are summed up by Mark O’Connell in his book To Be a Machine, which last week won the Wellcome Book prize. “It is their belief that we can and should eradicate ageing as a cause of death; that we can and should use technology to augment our bodies and our minds; that we can and should merge with machines, remaking ourselves, finally, in the image of our own higher ideals.”

We are fast approaching the wickedness of the days of Noah which brought God’s catastrophic judgement. Jesus said in the “last days” before His second coming it would be like the days of Noah.

In the past, many authors had raised the possibility of tyrannical governments forcibly micro-chipping their own populations someday (Revelation 13:16-17 Mark of the Beast), but what if most of humanity actually embraces this new technology enthusiastically? Today, thousands of people in Sweden are eagerly having microchips inserted into their own hands, and it is rapidly becoming a natural part of society. Even in the United States, at one time there was great resistance to the idea of microchipping our pets, but now it is almost universally accepted. Personal microchips are being promoted as a way to make routine tasks faster, easier and more convenient, and Swedish “biohackers” are quite thrilled to be on the cutting edge of this new trend… It will be easy for governments to make  a microchip inserted in the right hand compulsory.

The idea of technologically enhancing our bodies is not new. But the extent to which transhumanists take the concept is. In future, we might use implants to augment our senses so we can detect infrared or ultraviolet radiation directly or boost our cognitive processes by connecting ourselves to memory chips. Ultimately, by merging man and machine, science will produce humans who have vastly increased intelligence, strength, and lifespans; a near embodiment of gods.

SIGNS TO WATCH FOR, PRIOR TO JESUS RETURN

Jesus does not teach a sign-less, imminent rapture. There are key discernible events/signs that must happen before Jesus returns for his church.

Jesus gave us due warning with signs/events that will occur prior to His return: 

  1. Israel will be reestablished – Jesus told the parable of the fig tree (Israel) when you see it sprouting (reborn). “So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.” Luke 21;31
  2. “False messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. “Remember, I have told you ahead of time.“ Mark 13:21-22
  3.  “And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” Matthew 24:6
  4. “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matthew 24:7
  5. There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth nations will be in distress, anxious over the roaring of the sea and the surging waves. People will be fainting from fear and from the expectation of what is coming on the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. “But when these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
  6. “Now regarding the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to be with him… Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not arrive until the rebellion comes and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, and as a result he takes his seat in God’s temple, displaying himself as God. Surely you recall that I used to tell you these things while I was still with you.” 2 Thessalonians 2:1–5
  7. “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and takes the mark on his forehead or his hand, that person will also drink of the wine of God’s anger that has been mixed undiluted in the cup of his wrath, and he will be tortured with fire and sulphur in front of the holy angels and in front of the Lamb… This requires the steadfast endurance of the saints—those who obey God’s commandments and hold to their faith in Jesus.” Revelation 14:9–12
  8. So when you see the abomination of desolation–spoken about by Daniel the prophet—standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains.

Sadly, much of the church has been deceived into believing a Pretribulation Rapture. The Bible clearly teaches in these Scriptures that the Saints will experience tribulation even great tribulation. However, the Bible also teaches the Saints will be raptured at the sixth seal before God pours out His wrath upon the earth in the trumpet and bowl judgements.

MORE ON THE GOG/MAGOG WAR FROM JOEL

What we see unfolding in the Middle East is a lead up to the “end times” wars prophesied in the Bible.

Listen to Joel talk about what is unfolding now  – conflict between Iran (Shia) and its neighbours as it attempts to exert its dominance on these Muslim nations. This is already happening with Iran troops in Syria and Iraq and its proxies, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.

What follows in Daniel 8:5-8 is the prophesied Goat with a single horn (Turkey) trampling the ram (Iran). This is Turkey’s (Sunni) response to re-establish a revised Ottoman Empire.

These all proceed the final Gog/Magog war.

Gabriel told Daniel three times “for the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.” I believe we are living in the time of the end when we are seeing these prophesied events unfold. We are fast approaching the final week (shabua) of the Seventy weeks prophesied in Daniel 9:24-27.

IN THE LAST DAYS – RUMOURS OF WARS

The Swedes have issued a civil defence pamphlet to each of its 4.8 million households, titled ‘Om krisen eller kriget kommer’ (‘If crisis or war comes’).

In recent years Sweden has decided to double its defence budget, rising from 53 billion kronor (AU$9.8 billion) to around 115 billion kronor (AU$17.5 billion) by 2035.

In January, it reintroduced conscription and in September last year, amidst its largest military exercise in 23 years, Sweden restored the garrison on the Baltic island of Gotland.

Ms Nyh Radebo, a defence ministry spokeswoman, said the return to conscription was prompted by ‘the security change in our neighbourhood’.

‘The Russian illegal annexation of Crimea, the conflict in Ukraine and the increased military activity in our neighbourhood are some of the reasons.’

Towns have been instructed to dust off their civil defence documents and inspect and upgrade the old cold war bunkers.

Denmark and Sweden have agreed to boost defence ties to fight Russian cyber-attacks, and negotiations have been conducted to purchase the Patriot missile system from the United States.

‘…What was unthinkable five years ago is no longer unthinkable’ said Martin Kragh, from the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.

The civil defence pamphlet is unequivocal in its instruction to the Swedes.

‘If we are attacked’, it says, ‘we will never give up. All information to the effect that resistance is to cease is false.

The issuing of such a pamphlet is a measure the Swedes haven’t felt necessary since the darkest days of the Cold War. Throughout the 20th and 21st Century, they’ve stuck firmly by their policy of ‘armed neutrality’, avoiding involvement in any serious military conflict since 1814. Internationally, their defence posture has been benign. They possess no nuclear weapons and they have disavowed chemical and biological warfare.

The most dangerous mission Swedish troops have been involved in has been keeping the peace. And yet, this latest rumour of war, made ever ominous by the conduct of their neighbour, Russia, has forced a rethink about the unimaginable by senior government and defence planners.
