THE “KEY” TO EVANGELISM IS GOD’S POWER

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

Paul was incredibly well-educated and well-versed in the Scripture of his day. He would have had a doctorate and could have been a seminary professor if he so chose. If anyone could have pulled off being wise and persuasive, it would have been Paul. Yet Paul himself said that his message and teaching did not rely on wise and persuasive words but on a demonstration of the Spirit’s power.

A demonstration of the Spirit’s power. That was Paul’s key to evangelism. With no Holy Spirit, there’s no option of demonstrating the Spirit’s power. This leaves us with wise and persuasive words and we know they won’t convert anyone.

How do we begin to demonstrate the Spirit’s power in our life, and how does that lead to effective sharing of the gospel?

For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you because our gospel came to you not only in word but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.1 Thessalonians 1:4-5

“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.John 14:25-26

The fruit of the Spirit must be evident in your life: love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, kindness, self-control. This will allow you to show supernatural grace: forgiveness, even to your enemies.

The gifts of the Spirit must flow as the Holy Spirit leads: words of knowledge, words of wisdom, prophecy, faith, healing, miracles, discerning of spirits, different kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues.

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.John 14:12-13

Jesus was speaking to his disciples from the heart, in the knowledge that the cross awaited. Contextually, he is talking about his miracles, urging his disciples to believe in him as the Son of God because of the works he has done in their sight. Caught up in the Spirit, he prophesies that those who believe in him, including believers down through the ages, will perform the same, and even greater miracles. In the power and effectiveness of his children, Father God will be glorified. What a glorious promise!

NICK WITNESSING IN PRISON

What amazing ministry God has given Nick Vujicic, the man with no arms and legs. He has brought more people into God’s Kingdom than many denominations.

Watch and be encouraged and hopefully challenged about what God’s call is on your life, particularly in these last days when persecution will intensify for those that stand up for God and His values.

GOD’S MESSAGE FOR OUR YOUTH

Tens of thousands of people flocked to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Sunday evening for Harvest America 2018, which included gospel music and a message by Southern California Pastor Greg Laurie, who invited the crowd to respond to the Gospel.

Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, shared about his difficult childhood, and how he got into drugs and alcohol. “I was going downhill fast … I was too cynical, too hard … but Christ changed my life one day. I didn’t plan on it, but it happened,” he said.

In today’s culture, he continued, people think they can be happy only if they get rich and famous. But, he added, the “bottom line” is that “fame and wealth, possessions, all the things this world has to offer … will not make you happy.”

In one week alone, he said, two celebrities — television personality Anthony Bourdain and fashion icon Kate Spade — took their own lives. Last year, 45,000 Americans took their lives, he added.

“I’m not here tonight to talk to you about religion. I’m here to talk to you about a relationship, a friendship, with God,” Pastor Laurie told the crowd.

“There is someone who loves you and someone who values you. And He’s called Jesus Christ,

“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

“Do you have hope tonight?” the California pastor asked the audience. He further asked if Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is “living inside of you right now”? If He is, Laurie stressed, then you’d know for certain. (Strictly speaking, Laurie should have asked if the Holy Spirit is “living inside of you right now” then you’d know for certain. Jesus made it possible for our Heavenly Father to send the Holy Spirit to indwell all believers that understand the sacrifice on “The Cross”, His Son, Jesus Christ made on their behalf.)

We all are sinners and fall short of God’s glory, and we can’t do anything personally to make this right, he continued. And because of sin we will face judgment one day, he said. “But the good news is that God loved us so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ on a rescue operation to planet earth,” he explained.

Jesus was born in a manger, led a perfect life and died a perfect death. “And then He rose again from the dead,” he told the crowd, and added that Jesus died in our place more than 2,000 years ago.

When the evangelist asked people to come down to the center of the stadium if they wanted to pray to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, thousands did.

Following the tradition of late evangelist Billy Graham, the preacher featured John 14:6 (Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.) in front of his pulpit. “I was inspired to carry that ‘Evangelistic tradition’ forward tonight,” he said.

Another great testimony from an indigenous brother and his granddaughter.

Let us declare with Pastor Anthony: “Today, I stand for righteousness. Righteousness will exalt a nation. We proclaim that this nation will have righteousness. We will go back to the cornerstone, which is the Lord Jesus Christ, and build our foundation on truth (God’s Word). Truth will build our family house. Trust in the word of God will establish and confirm our house.”

Another great testimony from an indigenous sister. Only God can bring about the transformation that is taking place with our indigenous brothers and sisters.

GREAT TESTIMONY – “Religion is the problem”

Amazing how God met this indigenous young man at his lowest point in prison and then how revelation came over time. Make sure you watch this five minute testimony to the end. The message is prophetic for our time.

Can you pray for those who persecute you?

This video tells the story of how Suta’s faithfulness and the Holy Spirit’s conviction eventually led Raji, who once persecuted Christians, to embrace Christ.

May this story inspire you to pray not only for persecuted Christians but also for those who persecute them.
