THE BIBLE IS GOD’S STORY – FROM CREATION OF THIS COSMOS TO A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH

This article is taken from an editorial by Jonathan Sarfati in Creation Magazine 2025, volume 47, issue 1.

Make sure you get it. there are great articles in this issue: the righteous Enoch of Genesis 5:21–24 is a N.T. hero (Luke 3:37, Hebrews 11:5) (p. 32). On Day 5, God created the amazing megalodon (p. 12), trilobites (p. 15), penguins (p. 28), and jellyfish (p. 46). On Day 6, He created the giraffe with its intricate blood pressure control (p. 18), the elephant with its trunk (p. 56), and dinosaurs— and their surviving DNA (p. 38) shows it was only a few thousand years ago, not millions. The global Flood radically changed the world for Noah (p. 34). It also left very clear evidence behind, such as Devils Tower (p. 21).

Some Christians dismiss Genesis creation’s importance. Some claim to be ‘New-Testament Christians’, ignoring the Old Testament. Others, the ‘Red-letter Christians’, treat only the Bible’s red direct quotes of Jesus as authoritative. One obvious problem is ‘cutting off the branch they’re sitting on’. The New Testament cites the Old Testament as God’s Word. The NT contains about 250 direct OT quotations. That rises to about 1,000 if it includes indirect quotations and allusions—including about 100 from Genesis 1–11 (see creation.com/nt).

Furthermore, NT citations of OT passages often include “God said” or direct quotes from God as “Scripture said”. Both affirm the divine inspiration of the OT. Even the ‘red letters’ are enough to affirm the OT. Jesus said, “Scripture cannot be broken” (John 10:35). When He said that, the only Scripture was the OT. He also rebuked opponents, concerning the foundational doctrine of the Resurrection, “have you not read what was said to you by God” (Matthew 22:31). The OT is God speaking to you! Jesus also said, over and over, “It is written …”, citing Scripture and settling the matter, for God had spoken.

To believe the NT logically entails believing the OT. However, a strong case for biblical (‘young earth’) creation can be made just from the NT.

Note in the ‘red letters’, how Jesus teaches about marriage in Matthew 19:3–6 (cf. Mark 10:5–9). He goes right back to God’s ordination of marriage as one man + one woman in Genesis 1:27 and 2:24. Jesus starts with His common rebuke, showing His high expectations about OT knowledge, “Have you not read …?”. Then He continues, “he who created them from the beginning made them male and female [1:27], and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’” [2:24]. Genesis 2:24 is part of the text, but Jesus explicitly stated the Creator Himself said it.

Jesus clearly affirmed the great Flood, Noah, and the Ark as real in Luke 17:26– 27, warning about a future judgment. Peter affirmed that the Flood deluged and destroyed the whole world (2 Peter 3:3–7). Further, he affirmed that only eight people survived—those on the Ark (1 Peter 3:20)—Noah, his wife, their three sons, and their wives.

The Apostle Paul taught about the Gospel and Resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15. In v. 45, Paul quotes Genesis 2:7 directly, “It is written … the man became a living creature”. Paul said this referred to “the first man, Adam”. Paul explicitly teaches that the first man, Adam, was God’s direct creation—not human-like creatures evolving from ape-like ancestors. Paul also taught the Athenians that the Creator “made from one man every nation of mankind” (Acts 17:26). Luke 3:23–38 traced Jesus back to “Adam, the son of God” (not the son of an ape!).

Paul also referred to Genesis 3, that Adam’s sin brought death into the world. (All long-age compromises place human and animal death before sin.) Thus Jesus, “the last Adam”, would bring resurrection from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:21–22, 45). And in vv. 35–41, Paul explains theological truths about the Resurrection body, alluding to the history of what God had created in Genesis 1, on Days 3–6.

Creation Ministries International (CMI) affirms the divine inspiration of both OT and NT!

THE DAY GOD DESTROYS THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH WITH FIRE

God tells us in His Word (Bible): “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). But are you also aware that one day God will destroy the heavens and the earth with fire?

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.2 Peter 3:11-12

Shocking? Absolutely. Unbelievable? Not at all.

The Apostle Peter, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, delivered this staggering news to God’s people: “The day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be burned up … That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat” (2 Peter 3:10,12).

Yes, you read that correctly. The heavens will be dissolved, and the earth will literally melt in the heat.

A few verses earlier Peter described how in the last days before Jesus returns scoffers will deny that God judged the world previously with the worldwide flood of Noah’s day.

“Knowing this, first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffingFor they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s Word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and with water. By water also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men” (2 Peter 3:5-7).

The coming day of judgment is just as certain as God’s creation of the universe, and just as sure as the great flood in Noah’s day. The worldwide flood that buried millions of dead creatures all over the world, fossils, including fossil fuels (decayed vegetation under pressure), adequate evidence it occurred.

The good news: the Apostle John was given a vision of what will happen after God burns up the earth.

Then I saw a new Heaven and a new earth, for the first Heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ’Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’” (Revelation 21:1-5).

Every child of God will inhabit the New Heaven and New Earth with a perfect body that is incorruptible.

The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body” (1 Corinthians 15:42-44).

Talk about an upgrade! If you could choose today between going to Heaven or going to Hell, you would certainly choose Heaven, right? After all, who wants to go to Hell? But do you realize that there is only one way to be forgiven of your sins and get into Heaven?

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

Peter proclaimed: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under Heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Saved from what? 1. Sin, 2. Death, and 3. Hell. The final chapter of the Bible makes things crystal clear:

And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also, he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end… The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:5-8

Those who have deliberately and persistently pursued their sinful desires will find themselves in the Lake of Fire where there is punishment and the second death.

Your good works cannot remove a single stain from your soul. Like everyone else, you need the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross 2,000 years ago. When you turn to Christ in faith and rely upon His death for your salvation, your robe is instantly washed clean and made white in the blood of the Lamb.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

Peter informed believers: “In keeping with God’s promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness” (2 Peter 3:13).

The day God burns up the earth will be terribly frightening, to say the least, but this global upheaval must take place before the Lord ushers in a New Heaven and a New Earth.

In the meantime, “God wants everyone to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth,” (1 Timothy 2:4), and “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).

I have adapted this post from an article by Dan Delzell, The Day God Burns Up The Earth, pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Papillion, Nebraska.

WHAT CAN THE TABERNACLE TEACH US?

God established the nations at Babel to ensure people obeyed His command “to fill the earth”. First, he told Adam and Eve, and then Noah and his sons.

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28

And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.Genesis 9:1

God then established from one man, Abraham, his nation Israel. God made it clear from the beginning that He works with individuals: first Adam, then Noah, then Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David to accomplish His purposes which should make each one of us realize that God has a purpose for each of us that we need to discover. Have you found the purpose God has for you?

It is important we study the what, how, and when of God’s purpose and construct for His nation. It will reveal a lot about God and us. The prophetic nature of the Tabernacle and the Feast Days is amazing. You will come to realize what a treasure God has provided for us in all that He has done as revealed in His Word, the Bible.

God has given us His Word, the Bible, to reveal the truth about Himself and His creation. In fact, much of the Bible is prophecy, God has revealed how His story will play out, He even reveals extensive detail on the last seven years before He ends this segment of the history of His Cosmos when He pours out His wrath upon an unrepentant people much as He did with the worldwide flood of Noah’s day. This website’s main function is to get Christians in step with God at this time in His story as revealed in His Word – you and me living eternal now.

Watch the video to find out why the Tabernacle’s components are important for anyone who wants to understand what Jesus has achieved for all those who repent of their sin and accept Him as their Lord and Saviour.

JONATHAN CAHN ON THE JUBILEE AND ITS CONTROL OF HISTORY

Jonathan Cahn joins Erick Stakelbeck on TBN’s Praise to discuss the restoration and significance of Israel, as well as Jubilee events. Listen as they encourage you to dig deep into the Word to see all that the Bible has correctly predicted, and to see that everything God says is true. God is in control of all events in the affairs of men and nations. You will be blown away by what Jonathan reveals. How did Jonathan discover this history in such detail? Jonathan reveals that He was blown away, as you will be, as the Holy Spirit revealed these events to Him. You will want to buy Jonathan’s book The Oracle where all of this history is revealed.

A SHORT TRUE HISTORY OF MANKIND

Although made in God’s image, mankind performs disgracefully throughout Genesis. In an ill-intentioned plot to be like God, man rebels against God’s authority. Universal decay and death are God’s judgement. Still, mankind becomes so wicked that “every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5), provoking God to flood the whole earth in judgment. You can find just about every evil under the sun in Genesis. The narrative describes with brutal honesty the grotesque horrors of sin.

Despite mankind’s sin, God is gracious in his judgment. He does not instantly strike Adam and Eve dead in the garden but preserves them to populate the earth. He does not completely obliterate humanity in the flood but preserves Noah and his family. Just 200 years after the flood we get mankind building the Tower of Babel. In another judgement, God creates many new languages and therefore nations in order to get people to populate the entire world. God then creates His own nation Israel to be His witness to the world. Its history reveals continual disobedience and judgement.

GOD THEN STEPS INTO HISTORY

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.” John 14:6

God sends His own Son, Jesus, first to die for us, to provide a way for mankind to come back into a right relationship with Him. Jesus’ death and resurrection made it possible for our Heavenly Father to send the Holy Spirit to indwell the spirits of those that repent of their sin and give their lives to Jesus as Lord thereby enabling them to live a life in Christ.

JESUS SECOND COMING

We have Jesus’ promise that He will return to right all injustice on this planet which will also fulfill God’s covenant promises He made to Abraham and His nation Israel. God’s plan from the beginning was for mankind to rule and reign on this earth for six thousand years. God has ordained that there will then be a final one thousand years when Jesus will rule and reign (with a rod of iron) with the resurrected Saints. Only then will God destroy this earth with fire then the second resurrection followed by the White Throne judgement and finally a new heaven and new earth where only the righteous will dwell.

To keep the history short I have deliberately left out mention of the spiritual realm where we also have good and evil, angels and demons. Nevertheless, Satan and his demon’s role in our history has of course been diabolical. Jesus acknowledged Satan as God of this fallen world. During Jesus Millennial reign on this earth, Satan is bound in the abyss for most of the thousand years but at the end of the thousand years, he is released and he is still able to raise an army like the sand of the sea.

And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.Revelation 20:7-10

Despite Jesus and the Saints ruling the nations (with a rod of iron), many will choose to rebel and join Satan’s final battle against God. Many of us like Satan want to be God and not be subject to His commandments/rules.
