In an upscale Tel Aviv neighbourhood – the kind filled with joggers, beach bars and hotels that attract wealthy holidaymakers – Tahli Engel, formerly of Melbourne, tells a story you hear a lot in Israel, and it captures one of the most important, but least understood, perspectives emerging from the wars triggered by October 7. “Life in Melbourne, absolutely, was very good,” she says from her living room. The first is paradoxical.
Australians are driving the cohort that is: their numbers are up 23 per cent, according to the Israel Aliyah Centre, and 87 per cent of the emigres are young adults aged between 18 and 34.
These aren’t refugees. They’re millennials and Gen Z professionals making a bet about where they can live as fully expressed Jews in the 21st century. Americans are doing the same. So are the British, the Canadians, the French. In other words, citizens from countries where government policy or civil discourse has been hostile enough to Israel or the local Jewish community. Hillel Weinstein, a former university student in Melbourne who moved to Israel last year, puts it bluntly: “I’d see encampments and huge signs saying ‘Free Palestine’ all over university property. I’m like, if this is where I’m studying, this is not a place that I want to be at.” Here, he walks the streets feeling “as safe as I’ve ever been. A lot of people have moved from around the globe to Israel, especially because they just don’t feel safe where they are”. Consider the irony for a moment. Young Jews are fleeing ostensibly peaceful Western democracies for a country that just fought a multi-front war and endured the sight of buildings being toppled by Iranian hypersonic missiles, because they feel more secure walking the streets of Tel Aviv than Brunswick or Newtown.

However, time and time again, we have found that the opposite is true. Compromising Genesis with man’s ideas from outside of Scripture opens the door to this ‘slippery slide of unbelief’. It becomes a major stumbling block to people being receptive to God’s Word and the Gospel. Unbelievers are generally unimpressed when they see Christians clearly evading the obvious meaning of the beginning of God’s Word.

According to a survey conducted by the Barna Group, nearly one fifth (18%) of American adults reported that they became more spiritually active following Kirk’s assassination, while 5% said that they became more politically active and 6% said that they became both more spiritually and more politically active.
“It is remarkable to see the impact of a widely known public figure, and the fact that tens of millions of Americans were inspired to take action as a result of his death,” said Barna Group CEO David Kinnaman in a statement. “There has also been some discussion about Charlie Kirk’s passing as directly responsible for a surge in church attendance,” he observed.
In comments to The Washington Stand, Joseph Backholm, senior research fellow for Biblical Worldview at Family Research Council, noted, “In recent years, Charlie had emphasised the importance of faith before political activity, and in his death that message landed with those who respected him.” Backholm continued, “I also think there’s an understanding that he was murdered, not because of his political positions, but because he was engaged very directly in a spiritual war. This clearly became about more than politics and an encouraging number of young people are seeing this and they want to engage in the spiritual war that inspires our political wars.”
Nearly half (47%) of Americans, including a majority (71%) of practicing Christians, said that they believe Kirk’s death will continue to have a positive impact on Christianity among younger generations, but survey respondents were less optimistic on other issues. Only about a third (34%) of polled adults said that they believe the ability to have civil political conversations will improve in the years ahead, while a similar share (33%) predicted that the ability to have civil political conversations will continue to deteriorate. Less than 30% said that Kirk’s assassination will foster cooperation between conservatives and liberals, while over a third (35%) anticipated a negative impact. The Barna Group noted that Generation Z “respondents were particularly likely to expect negative impacts on political cooperation (45% negative vs. 29% positive), American politics broadly (46% negative vs 33% positive), and civil discourse (43% negative vs 32% positive).”
“Practicing Christians held markedly different views,” the Barna Group observed. In addition to anticipating a positive impact on Christianity among young Americans, a majority (53%) of practicing Christians said that they expect Kirk’s murder to yield a positive impact on civil political discourse. Nearly half (49%) also expected Kirk’s death would have a positive impact on politics in the US and nearly as many (44%) anticipated a positive impact on the relationship between conservatives and liberals.
“It is a cliché that young people are the leaders of tomorrow because it’s true. We need future leaders who understand what time it is and the spiritual nature of our political conflicts,” Backholm told The Washington Stand. “The first responsibility of Christian adults is to disciple young people in our sphere, particularly those in our homes. Charlie was especially good at reaching young people, but he is by no means the only one capable of doing that, and now we all have to pick up the mantle.”
“Every person is on a unique spiritual journey, so there is no one way to activate people spiritually. And some people aren’t interested in the truth and can’t be activated until hearts are changed,” Backholm cautioned. “But there are always people who are seeking the truth as well, and pointing them to the truth requires us to live lives that demonstrate God’s ways are better while also being able to communicate why rebellion against God’s plan for humanity causes so much pain,” he continued. “Reality will always be on our side because God made the rules; we just need to make sure our words and lives consistently demonstrate the beauty and superiority of God’s plan. If we do, people will be interested.”
Charlie Kirk’s death fits the Biblical end times prophecies that are playing out in our world
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.” Matthew 24:9-12
We need to make sure we are not amongst the groups “many will fall away” and “the love of many will grow cold“. Instead, we need to keep our focus on the fact that Jesus is returning soon to initiate His Millennial reign with the glorified Saints on this earth. It is interesting that it was only two years ago now that God took my focus to Jesus Millennial Kingdom. I knew little about what is next on God’s agenda for planet earth. God has unfinished business with Israel. Every old testament prophet was shown that their Messiah will rule the nations of the world from a magnificent new Jerusalem.

In 1 Kings, we get a glimpse of the magnificence of Solomon’s palace. God established Solomon as the greatest king that has ever lived. The Queen of Sheba’s reaction gives a glimpse.
“And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, the food of his table, the seating of his officials, and the attendance of his servants, their clothing, his cupbearers, and his burnt offerings that he offered at the house of the Lord, there was no more breath in her. And she said to the king, “The report was true that I heard in my own land of your words and of your wisdom, but I did not believe the reports until I came and my own eyes had seen it. And behold, the half was not told me. Your wisdom and prosperity surpass the report that I heard. Happy are your men! Happy are your servants, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom! Blessed be the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and set you on the throne of Israel!” 1 Kings 10:4-9

When speech becomes a crime, democracy dies, and Australia just took that dangerous step.
The government recently introduced new hate speech laws that are overly broad and vague, posing a major threat to free speech.
These laws lower the threshold for criminal liability, allowing prosecution based on what authorities think someone’s words might cause rather than intent to harm.
Everyday Australians risk being criminalised for expressing unpopular political, cultural, or religious opinions.
Similar laws in the UK have led to arrests over trivial speech, creating a climate of fear and self-censorship.
The bill was rushed through the Senate with minimal debate, undermining democratic scrutiny — Few voted against it as anti-free speech and anti-Australian.
That old political maxim, ‘Never let a good crisis go to waste…’ comes to mind when considering the government’s restrictions on free speech.
Antisemitism has been at crisis levels in this country for two years.
But rather than use existing laws against incitement to crack down on the problem, the government recently created new laws that are so broad, and so vague, that they will create far more problems than they solve.
These new laws are not a solution to hate; they are an attack on the free speech of ordinary Australians.
Lower Threshold for Harm
These laws may well punish radical extremists, but they will also capture everyday Australians, who could be criminalised for no more than casually expressing unpopular political or religious views.
The new laws lower the threshold for hate speech to such an extent that a person could be criminalised for what authorities decide their words might lead to.
Instead of proving that a person meant to cause harm with their words, the laws mean that authorities would only need to prove that a person’s words could have caused harm.
As sure as night follows day, these new laws will be weaponised by activists to go after people they disagree with.
If you dare to say there are only two genders, you could run the risk of being accused of harming trans people and run the risk of criminalisation.
If you dare to say some particular religions are not compatible with Australian culture, you could run the risk of being prosecuted for stirring up hatred.
If you dare to say that unchecked immigration from this region, or that, is ruining the country, you will run the risk of being pursued for inciting hate.
The result is that people will start self-censoring their own words and thoughts. How can we tolerate such a situation? If Australians are not free to say what they truly think, then in what sense are Australians free?
Chilling Effect
Worse, people could be arrested for innocuous social media posts or opinions expressed over a beer at the pub.
This is not an exaggeration. This is exactly what we are seeing in the United Kingdom, where similar laws were passed and are now used to make life a living hell for good people expressing unpopular views.
It is outrageous that Senators were given just one hour to debate these laws. That one of the most consequential bills to come before this House is rushed through in such a fashion is disgraceful.
The Senate is supposed to be a house of review. It has instead become a house of approval.
Rather than being stacked with party-aligned rubber-stampers who simply vote for bills along party lines, the Senate needs to be reconfigured so that independent members give genuine consideration to proposed bills.
That is not what is happening here; the system is entirely broken. The free speech of Australians is now greatly diminished as a result of this badly written and ill-considered law, which was waved through the Senate by members who are more concerned about lunch than about the consequences.
This is a bad law. It is anti-free speech and anti-Australian but it fits exactly with the Biblical end times prophesies about Jesus second coming this time as king to restore righteousness and usher in His Millennial Kingdom. Using the Bible, well-documented historical events, and some math, we find that the Flood began approximately 4,359 years ago in the year 2348 BC. Genesis teaches it; Jesus and the apostles confirmed it. It also explains most of the rocks and fossils and obliterates billions of years. Without millions of years , evolution is impossible – not that it is possible if millions of years were granted. We should therefore be prepared to defend a global flood along with the rest of the faith, as well as refute arguments against it.
“But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.” 1 Peter 3:14-16
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.” 2 Corinthians 9:5-6
The world must reject Noah’s flood as it destroys evolution which is their attempt to explain away the Cosmos without God. Noah’s flood also proves that God judged the world and destroyed all but the eight people on the ark God instructed Noah to make. Who wants to believe their creator would do that? Evolution has been one of Satan’s most effective ploys to deceive mankind into rejecting God.
What about now? Both Jesus and Peter told us that people will reject the true history of the world including Noah’s flood at the time before Jesus returns to Earth to rescue His Saints and God pours out His wrath a second time on an unrepentant world with the Trumpet and Bowl judgements.
“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all... so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.” Luke 17:26-27,30
“For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” Matthew 24:38-39
In Peter’s second letter, he prophecies about future scoffers following their own sinful desires and denying Christ’s return. They “deliberately overlook” two foundational truths. The first was God created the world out of water and the second was the global flood of Noah’s day.
“Knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.” 2 Peter 3:3-6
Jesus returns on the clouds with the angels to gather the Saints, first the resurrected Saints and then those alive on Earth. “Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.” Revelation 1:7
God then pours out His wrath upon the Earth with the Trumpet and Bowl judgements. It so happens that His judgement last one year and ten days exactly the same time as God poured out His wrath the fist time with Noah’s flood. Why one year and ten days? When Jesus returns it will be a Jubilee year and the year before a Jubilee year is always one year and ten days.
What do the prophecies of Zechariah truly reveal about the end times, Israel, and the return of Christ?
