One week from tomorrow, Elon Musk and Tesla will hold its “We, Robot” event

It’s expected that the company will reveal its first dedicated robotaxi. This is being heralded as a “game changer” for the future of autonomous transportation.

“We, Robot” is expected to be a watershed moment for Tesla wherein the company introduces its first dedicated robotaxi, tentatively called the “Cybercab.” Tesla is also expected to showcase groundbreaking advancements in Full Self-Driving (FSD) software and artificial intelligence as the company pushes toward a future where human drivers are obsolete.

At the heart of this transportation revolution is a convenient, driverless ride at a fraction of the cost of traditional services. If it’s everything it’s cracked up to be, this will send ripples throughout the automotive, technology, and investment sectors.

Consider what a rollout of Tesla’s robotaxi would mean… With the tap of a button, you can have a car at your disposal, 24/7, at a much lower all-in cost than owning a car (or purportedly, calling an Uber).

Today, car ownership can be a major financial burden. AAA reports that last year, the average annual cost to own and operate a car in the U.S. was about $10,000. A fully autonomous, reliable, ever-present robotaxi would enable consumers to save thousands of dollars by eliminating the need for car ownership.

Yes, there will be plenty of Americans who will still want their own. But if you’re one of the 66.2% of Americans living paycheck-to-paycheck today (according to MarketWatch in August), are you not going to seriously consider letting go of your car to free up thousands of dollars per year?

According to a 2022 study by McKinsey & Co., 25% to 30% of urban dwellers would consider using shared autonomous vehicles as their main transportation mode if it were widely available. And if 25% to 30% of Americans decide to stop buying cars, get ready for a financial earthquake.

First and obviously, we have the major car manufacturers that would be rocked by this size of a reduction in auto demand. We’re talking unprecedented disruption that would require a business-model pivot, and potentially, enormous layoffs.

Cars are parked 95% of the time. If you’re merely “renting” your car, when you’re done with it, it speeds away to service someone else. Such collective ownership of cars will radically explode car efficiency, reducing how many are needed, which would impact how many workers are required. Also, you do not need a garage at home or at work.

Now, consider the knock-on effects… With 25% to 30% fewer drivers (at the beginning – expect this percentage to grow), what happens to the auto insurance industry? According to Benzinga, U.S. auto insurance premiums amount to more than $308 billion per year. So, what happens with far fewer car owners? Do we lose loads of related insurance jobs? Or does the insurance model switch from vehicle coverage to some sort of ride-based individual coverage? What would be the impact on business models?

Next, what about car mechanics and chain repair shops?

What happens when autonomous driving hits our trucking industry? In the U.S., that’s a $216 billion market with roughly 3.5 million drivers. Think “robotrucks” might be disruptive there?

Now, consider the investment implications, good and bad… What will be the impact of all this on the share prices of not just Tesla, but Ford… Alphabet (which owns Waymo, another autonomous driving company)… Uber… Insurance companies… Auto parts manufacturers, and retailers, the list goes on and on… And what about the stocks of the companies that make the components for Tesla’s fleet or robotaxis? All the sensors and semiconductor chips? The plastics? The electronic circuitry?

It is all about technology replacing the need for humans. In 2013, Amazon used about 1,000 robots in its warehouses. Last year, that number clocked in at 750,000 and the savings have been incredible. The warehouses work 24 hours a day non-stop and seven days a week.

Think about the coming impact of AI and automation on, well, everything… It’s already affecting jobs for customer service agents… paralegals and legal assistants… accountants… medical diagnosticians… radiologists… financial analysts… journalists… recruiters… insurance underwriters… and marketing specialists… to name a few. Should we expect it to stop?

It will lead to a chaotic workplace as shown by the International Longshoremen’s Association strike that began yesterday, with dockworkers demanding assurances that the United States Maritime Alliance will never replace human workers with automation? As well, the Screen Actors Guild/Writers Guild of America strikes in 2023, wherein Hollywood workers demanded protection from the rising capabilities of artificial intelligence. Unions will not stop the use of AI and robots and lawlessness and chaos will erupt across cities.

In Matthew 24:12, Jesus told his disciples what will unfold in the end times before He returns to Earth. He says, “And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold”. Christians know what is coming and we need to use Biblical end-times prophecies to evangelize the lost. As these end times prophecies are fulfilled, people will realise God is real and the Bible is God’s word.

TRUE PEACE IS KNOWING THE GOD WHO IS IN CONTROL

True peace must be rooted in something lasting. Only our omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, God will do. Combining these in order, the words translate to “all-powerful, all-knowing, and “all-present” or “present everywhere”

The peace of God is found in the decisive victory of a monumental conflict. The alienation of humanity from God by the product of our willful rebellion against His authority put us clearly on the wrong side of an unequal equation. We became God’s enemies, and any peace we could offer fell solidly into the counterfeit category. As Paul wrote to the Ephesians, we were without hope and God in His world. But by the blood of Jesus Christ, God preemptively made the offer of peace to his hopeless enemy:

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near” Ephesians 2:13–17

We can be at peace only when we are reconciled to God through Christ. In Him, our anxieties are alleviated, and our hostility is put to death. Nothing can disrupt that kind of peace. Wars and rumors of wars will still rage, but the person who walks by the Spirit will walk amid the storm to a voice that cries, “Peace! Be Still!”

God has given us detailed information on the fast-approaching end of this era for Earth. It is a time of intense tribulation for Christians so only those in Christ will have peace and be able to be used by God to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom to all the world.

“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:6-14

THE AGE OF AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES HAS ARRIVED

Sometimes the future comes faster than you think… I recently flew into Sky Harbor International Airport in my hometown of Phoenix. It was late. My wife and kids were asleep.  So, I hailed a ride in an app. The car arrived. It took me to my home in the suburbs. It dropped me off. It was like a regular Uber or Lyft ride, except for one important detail…

There was nobody in the car except me and a bunch of sophisticated sensors and electronics.

The car that picked me up drove me through Phoenix and dropped me off at my house was a Google-made autonomous vehicle (AV)… aka a “robotaxi.” The cost was US$26, versus the cost of a taxi, typically US$46.

Waymo is the self-driving division of Alphabet (GOOG), Google’s parent company. It’s been working on developing autonomous vehicle technology for over a decade. And over the past few years, it’s rolled out autonomous robotaxi services in Phoenix and San Francisco. Folks in those cities can hail a Waymo AV. It will take them from A to B with no human driver in the car using its AI-powered piloting system.

And San Francisco and Phoenix are just the beginning… This week, Elon Musk will reveal his NEW AI product, Robotaxi, and it promises to shock the world. Reportedly, the vehicle will be a fully self-driving car without any steering wheel or pedals. Early descriptions reveal that it’s likely to comprise a two-seat interior with a large center console. Musk says it will also have the lowest cost-per-mile of any transportation option. And supposedly, it will be accompanied by its own ride-hailing app (just like Uber), allowing customers to fetch autonomous rides in the Robotaxi at the push of a button.   

Waymo is also testing in Los Angeles. And it’s expanding to Austin and Atlanta, Georgia early next year through a partnership with Uber. After that, Waymo is expected to launch in one or two new cities almost every month. So, by the end of next year, we’re talking two dozen – maybe three dozen – cities that will have at least some Waymo capability.

And that’s just one part of the story… on the interstate, Aurora (AUR) is doing autonomous trucking. That’s happening in Texas. Aurora is autonomously hauling freight on trucks. These are loaded semi-trucks taking goods from one city to another, without a driver. An autonomous AI system is doing the work instead.

What we see unfolding is all in line with end times Bible prophecies. Daniel 700 years before Jesus Christ was told what the world would be like at the time of the end.

“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Daniel 12:4

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Matthew 24:7-13

A GOOD NEWS STORY: REVIVAL AT U.S.A. UNIVERSITES

In the fourth major collegiate revival in less than a month, thousands of students gathered at the University of Arkansas on Thursday night to seek Jesus Christ and find salvation in His name.

Unite US reports that 10,000 students from 67 different universities gathered in Bud Walton Arena (click on the link below)

“Jesus met us there,” the ministry said in an Instagram post. “We were blown away by His presence in the room and how it carried over to baptisms. It was a night we’ll never forget.”

Tonya Prewitt, founder of UniteUS, explained, “We started at Auburn University. We had 5,000 students show up, and over 200 got baptized. We next went to FSU – Florida State, the second biggest party school in the nation. We had 4,500 students come, and about 350 students got baptized at that event.”

The movement then swept through the universities of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina, with numbers growing along the way. Tonya calls the mission a simple one: Bring hope to a generation.

College student Haden Smith shared his experience. “Just getting to be with your neighbors and friends as they pray with you for your struggles and being open with those you normally wouldn’t be open with – it was just overall powerful,” he said.

Tonya added, “We’ve had students come in and say, ‘Hey, I came in thinking I was going to take my life. I left with the most joy I have ever had. I came in not being part of any community, and now I am serving in a local church.'”

UniteUS events operate by connecting with Christian student leaders and feature speakers, testimonies, prayer, and baptisms.

Zac White, a Christian student leader at the University of Arkansas, expressed his expectations: “We’re just expecting to see people really get lit on fire for what they’ve said they’ve believed for so long, or people that have never believed in Christ, Christianity, or the Bible and what it says their whole life – and we are going to see their whole life turn around.”

A WAKE UP CALL FOR CHRISTIANS

The following verse from Revelation should be a wake-up call for all Christians. John is given this revelation about the final 3 1/2 years before Jesus returns to Earth for the battle of Armageddon. The Antichrist is allowed by God to exercise authority over the Earth and to wage war against the Saints.

“If anyone has an ear, let him hear: If anyone is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.” Revelation 13:9-10

Surely, for nonbelievers, these prophetic Scriptures prove the Bible is the inspired word of God. Who would follow a God who allows his enemy to slay His followers? Only born-again believers who have received the Holy Spirit can understand and obey this instruction to endure even unto death.

“And the beast (Antichrist) was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. Also, it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, and all who dwell on the earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.” Revelation 13:5-8d

THE GOOD NEWS: The following words are written to the church of Philadelphia, the sixth church, the church that is raptured by God at the end of the sixth year before He pours out His wrath upon an unrepentant world with the Trumpet and Bowl judgements.

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens. “‘I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name… Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth. I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.” Revelation 3:10-11

This word given to the church of Philadelphia is so different from the word given to the church of Laodicea, the seventh church, which is left behind to face the Trumpet and Bowl judgements.

“And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation. “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.” Revelation 3:14-17

The good news for these people left behind to face the wrath of God is they still have a chance to repent and be saved.

“I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.” Revelation 3:18-19

Each of the seven seals and each of the seven churches reveals what transpires on Earth during the final seven years before Jesus returns to Earth. It is at the sixth seal and the sixth year, when the celestial signs appear in the sky and we are told the great day of God’s wrath has come.

“Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”

It is the sixth church, the church of Philadelphia that is raptured at the end of the sixth year.

It is immediately after the sixth seal that the four angels are told not to pour out God’s wrath upon the Earth until the 144,000 Jews, servants of God are sealed on their foreheads.
“Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:” Revelation 7:3-4

Next John sees all those who were raptured standing before the throne of God the Father and Jesus.

“After this, I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” Revelation 7:9-10

It is only after this scene, that the seventh seal is opened and the first of the seven trumpets is blown initiating the seven Trumpet judgements.

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A SOMEONE NOT A SOMETHING.

This post follows my previous post “Is God a Trinity“. If you have not read it but are interested in looking at the arguments for and against God is a Trinity then I suggest you do so before you read this testimony of Dr Walter Wilson.

The testimony of Dr Walter Wilson is powerful. Converted on December 21st, 1896, Walter had a deep love for the scriptures yet it bothered him that his life did not seem to bear spiritual fruit. In 1913 he was challenged by a missionary with the question, “What is the Holy Spirit to you?”

Wilson answered, “He is one of the persons of the Godhead, a Teacher, a Guide; the third person of the Trinity.

The missionary responded with: “He is just as great, just as precious, just as needed as the other two persons of the Trinity. But you still have not answered my question, What is He to you?”

“He is nothing to me”, Wilson said, surprised at his own candour. “I have no contact with Him, no personal relationship, and get along quite well without Him,” Wilson replied.

“It is because of this that your life is so fruitless even though your efforts are so great“. The missionary’s words taunted Wilson into the next year. He wanted to bear the fruit of the Spirit but feared becoming a fanatic, giving an inferior place to Jesus Christ. On January 14th, 1914 everything changed when Wilson heard a sermon preached by Dr James Gray (he became President of Moody Bible Institute) on Romans 12:1

SERMON BY DR JAMES GRAY
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1

Notice this verse does not tell us to whom we should give our bodies? It is not the Lord Jesus…..He has his own body. It is not God the Father….He remains upon His throne. Another has come to earth without a body….God gives you the privilege and indescribable honour of presenting your bodies to the Holy Spirit, to be His dwelling place on earth. 

After hearing this sermon Walter Wilson prayed the following prayer:

“My Lord, I have mistreated You (HOLY SPIRIT) all my Christian life. I have treated you like a servant….I shall do so NO more. Now I give you this body of mine ; from my head to my feet……………., I hand it over to YOU for YOU to live in it the life that YOU please.”

Walter Wilson, the beloved physician often testified, “Concerning my own experience with the Holy Spirit, I must say the transformation of my life on Jan 14th, 1914 was greater, much greater than the change that took place when I was saved Dec 21st 1896.

Make sure you do not treat the Holy Spirit as a “something”. He is a “someone”.

IS GOD A TRINITY?

I am convinced that God is a trinity of three persons. There is no dispute about God the Father and God the Son as persons but there is certainly dispute about the Holy Spirit.

The United Church of God is one church denomination that believes the Holy Spirit is something not someone. Their main arguments include the following:

If God were a Trinity, surely Paul, who was taught directly by the resurrected Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:11-12) and who wrote much of the theological underpinnings of the early Church, would have comprehended and taught this concept. Yet we find no such teaching in His writings (which I will dispute). Moreover, Paul’s standard greeting in his letter to the churches, as well as individuals to whom he wrote, consistently mentions “God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” And in each of his greetings, he never mentions the Holy Spirit! (The same can also be said of Peter in the salutations of both his epistles.) The same greeting, with only minor variations, appears in every epistle with Paul’s name. Notice how consistent he is in not including the Holy Spirit in his greetings: Romans 1:7, 1 Corinthians 1:3, 2 Corinthians 1:2, Galatians 1:3, Ephesians 1:2, Philippians 1:2, Colossians 1:2, 1 Thessalonians 1:1, 2 Thessalonians 1:1-2, 1 Timothy 1:2, 2 Timothy 1:2, Titus 1:4, Philemon 1:3.

The Holy Spirit is always left out of these greetings—an unbelievable and inexplicable oversight if the Spirit were indeed a person or entity coequal with God the Father and Christ! Paul’s epistles record no attempt on his part to explain the Trinity or Holy Spirit as a divine person equal with God the Father and Jesus Christ. However, in 2 Corinthians 13:14, we have “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Corinthians 13:14

They would argue that in visions of God’s throne recorded in the Bible, although the Father and Christ are seen, the Holy Spirit as a third person is completely absent.

They also argue that Scripture reveals the Holy Spirit not as a person, but as something much different—the divine power through which God acts.

They also claim no theological or biblical justification for referring to the term “Holy Spirit” with masculine pronouns, even in Greek. The Greek word pneuma, translated “spirit” (but also translated “wind” and “breath” in the New Testament) is a grammatically neuter word. So, in the Greek language, pronouns equivalent to the English “it,” “its,” “itself,” “which” or “that” are properly used in referring to this word translated into English as “spirit.”

The Scriptures they have difficulty with are the following:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Jesus told the disciples and therefore us that He must go so His Father could send the Holy Spirit to be our counsellor, teacher, comforter, and helper.

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26

“When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit.” Mark 13:11

It is difficult to understand how “a power” can be our counsellor, teacher, and comforter. Particularly when Paul tells us to make sure we do not grieve the Holy Spirit or quench His work in our lives. You cannot grieve a “power “or “something“.

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Ephesians 28:19-20

“Do not quench the Spirit“ 1 Thessalonians 5:19

THE HOLY SPIRIT ACTS AS A PERSON:

•HE SPEAKS: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches” (Rev 2:7), “And while they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them” Acts 13:2

•HE TEACHES: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you” John 14:26

•HE WITNESSES: “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of me” (John 15:26) “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God” Romans 8:16

•Directs your path (Prov. 3:4-5, Proverbs 143:10).

•Helps you and He lives within you forever (John 14:16).

•Guides you in all truth (John 14:17, 16:13a).

•Brings to your remembrance all things He said to you (John 14:26b).

•Tells you things to come (John 16:13).

•Reveals to you the deep things of God (1 Cor. 2:10).

•Freely gives you all things (1 Cor. 2:12).

•Offers you the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16).

“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God..” Romans 8:16

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Romans 8:26

Paul also tells us that the Holy Spirit produces the fruit of the Spirit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, kindness, and self-control. He is also the one who provides the gifts for ministry, all nine, as needed.

HAS THE “SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN” GONE WOKE?

These headlines are from one of the premier “science” publications in the Land of the Free— Scientific American. And I didn’t have to comb through years of articles to cherry-pick them. In fact, everything listed below is from the last few weeks.

Perhaps it explains why Scientific American endorsed Kamala Harris last week; they wrote “Vote for Kamala Harris to Support Science, Health and the Environment.”

The publication which thinks sex fetishes, abortion, drag queens, and left-wing political ideology counts as “science” believes that Kamala is the pro-science candidate.

Even the few articles that are actually about real science have a woke, leftist bend. For example, one article is “Florida Surgeon General Spreads COVID Misinformation in Booster Guidelines.”

They go on to slam the state’s top public health official for telling people that new COVID boosters have not been widely tested on humans. Scientific American decided that he is spreading misinformation… even though (quite bizarrely) they acknowledge in the very same article that the boosters have not, in fact, been widely tested on humans.

It’s especially ironic because one of the only other articles dealing with science is a story about a heroic scientist from the FDA who stood up against the “consensus” among the medical community in the 1960s. Back then, all the “experts” believed that an untested drug called thalidomide was safe. This one woman questioned the science. And she was right— thalidomide caused monstrous birth defects when it was administered to pregnant women.

So, according to Scientific American, a woman who raised awareness about an untested drug is considered heroic. But Florida’s Surgeon General who is raising awareness about untested booster shots is spreading misinformation. This double standard appears completely lost on them.

The Bible tells us what happens to nations that reject God and this is exactly what has happened to the USA.

“For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen… And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, and malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, and ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” Romans 1:21-25, 28-32
