ABORTION IS A NATIONAL SIN

Chaplain Pierre Bynum at the Family Research Council in Washington DC has written a powerful article on the killing of innocents which we need to heed if we want God to lift His hand of judgement on our nations.

Abortion is not only an individual sin; it is national sin that we must repent of as a people. We all share some guilt. We have elected people to public office who advocate for abortion. Many advocate for using our tax dollars to pay for abortions. As citizens of a free nation “of, by and for the people,” we elect our leaders and so affirm the policies they support, advocate for, enact, and execute. Among “we the people,” Christians must do their absolute best to elect candidates who share biblically informed values. We must participate in the process. Abortion, the shedding of innocent blood, is a bellwether issue. Those who advocate for life will usually be good on other issues, too. But when we vote for an abortion advocate, we are voting for abortion and for a culture of death. Of course, we should examine how a candidate stands on other biblical values fundamental to our faith — marriage, family, religious liberty, and other values pleasing to God. The Christian who says, “Politics! I don’t get involved in politics” is denying the responsibility to be salt and light in our nation and denying the responsibility to love our neighbour (all our fellow citizens and those yet unborn). (Matthew 22:21).

We need to take up the baton of the man that produced the video The Silent Scream, Dr Bernard Nathanson.

Dr. Bernard Nathanson built on the foundation laid by Margaret Sanger to co-found the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL), gaining widespread support for abortion and ultimately its legalisation. He succeeded in winning generations of men and women to the ideology of “choice” through deception, a plethora of outright lies, and modern public relations and advertising to persuade America to believe abortion was OK. It was not until after he had been personally responsible for the abortion of 75,000 babies that he was convicted and shaken to moral senses.

Dr Nathanson saw, in his first live viewing of an abortion via sonogram technology, the tiny baby in the womb struggling to avoid the abortionist’s deadly instruments. With its mouth open, clearly the baby was screaming aloud although she could not be heard. The “abortion king” instantly decided he had performed his last abortion. Repentant, he sought God’s forgiveness. He later produced a short video, “The Silent Scream,” to warn the world just what an abortion really is — the intentional killing of an innocent unborn human being.

REPENTANCE ESSENTIAL TO RECEIVE GOD’S BLESSING

In 1863 President Lincoln implemented three days of humiliation, fasting and prayer with this declaration: “It is the duty of nations as well as men to own their own dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognise the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history: that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.”

God does bring calamities and disasters such as firestorms, earthquakes and tornadoes for His purposes. It is invariably to make people realise they are not in control of circumstances in the world He created and maintains. Importantly, it is also to to get His own people to pray. Moreover, God tells us in advance in His Word that in the “last days” before Jesus returns that these disasters will increase in frequency. Just one of many signs, God has given us, to show we are in the last days before Jesus returns to rule and reign from Jerusalem.

When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  2 Chronicles 7:13-14

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.Luke 21:25-26

“See that you do not refuse Him (GOD) who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him (JESUS) who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:25-28

IS GOD A MORAL MONSTER?

Is there a difference between the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament? How do we understand things like God commanding the extermination of the Amalekites and other judgements? And how does this all point to the Gospel? Listen to Gary Bates and Lita Cosner discuss this important issue.

COMING FINAL GREAT JUDGEMENT OF GOD

Scripture tells us of three great judgements.  First, the flood in the days of Noah. What happened?  All the world’s population, except Noah and family, had the wrong agenda. Even though there was the sign of a 20,000 tons displacement boat built on dry land and Noah preaching for over 100 years, the population stuck to its wrong agenda – ‘their every thought was only evil continually.’ All but 8 people perished.

Noah’s Flood – extent of fossils buried (rapid burial) all over the world and fossil fuel evidence enough.

The second mighty judgement affects us all. It was the judgement of our sin which was put onto Jesus our Saviour. When Jesus came He was rejected by His own. Why? Because the leaders of Israel at the time had the wrong agenda. Did they know Jesus was the Messiah? – they knew that He performed miracles only the Messiah could do – healing leprosy and casting out demons, raising the dead.  Also, the timing of the coming of Jesus as Messiah was well known  – it was precisely specified in the prophecy of 70 weeks in the book of Daniel. The Magi, as the spiritual descendants of Daniel, knew full well – and they were watching. They recognised the sign.  Regrettably, the religious leaders of Israel, at the time, had their own agenda  – it did not include a Messiah that would upset their leadership and their religious rituals.

What about the third judgement that is prophesied in Scripture at His second coming. There are more prophecies about Jesus second coming than His first.

Are we so fixed on our well being, our business, even ministry that we have lost sight of Jesus’s specific instruction to watch for His return? Are we so concerned with our own agenda, that we have lost sight of the Messiah Himself and His imminent return. Are we in a church that trusts in the inerrant word of God, recognises that we are in the “end times”, and is challenging the church to complete the Great Commission and prepare for the coming tribulation?
Jesus said: ‘Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.’ Revelation 3:3.  The counter to that is that if you will watch, then you will know – ‘But you brethren  are not in darkness so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.’ 1 Thessalonian 5: 4

Are our priorities right? Jesus first and foremost above everything? Are we in a church that understands the times (Bereans), looking forward to His return?  Or are our plans, our desires,  like the famous singer, Frank Sinatra – ‘I did it my way’ – I had or have my own agenda!

The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come Lord Jesus.’  This is the right, the best, the pre-eminent agenda for today!

This post is based on an article written by Peter Mitchell of International Christian Chamber of Commerce, England – Got the Wrong Agenda?

WORLDS REACTION TO TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD

Alan Jones attacks Israel Folau for saying fires, drought are God’s punishment.

Alan Jones interviews Israel Folau on the Jones & Co show on Sky News.
Alan Jones interviews Israel Folau on Sky News

One of Israel Folau’s closest allies, Alan Jones, has attacked the former rugby union star’s latest controversial sermon in which he suggested bush fires ravaging NSW and Queensland and the drought are God’s punishment for the legalisation of same-sex marriage and abortion.

The devout Christian, who had his $4m Rugby Australia contract terminated over homophobic social media posts, said the timing of the bush fires was not a “coincidence” while delivering a sermon at his church in Sydney’s northwest on Sunday. Folau told fellow worshippers at the Kenthurst church the drought and bushfires were God’s way of telling Australia “You need to repent” and that they were only a taste of what God’s punishment could be. How right Folau is about God using catastrophes for His purposes.

“They have changed the law and changed the ordinance of these things,” he said. “Look how rapid these bush fires, these droughts, all these things have come in a short period of time. You think it is a coincidence or not? They have changed that law and legalised same-sex marriage and now those things are OK in society, going against the laws of what God says. Abortion — it is OK now to murder and kill infants, unborn children, and they think that to be OK.”

Jones was unimpressed, telling listeners to his 2GB program on Monday morning that Folau needs to “button up.” “Israel is a lovely human being, I know him well. (But) Israel, button up Jones said. These comments don’t help.”

Labor leader Anthony Albanese attacked Folau’s comments, describing them as “pretty reprehensible.”

“I think most people when they think of God or spirituality, they think of something positive and they think of a loving god,” Mr Albanese told Sky News on Monday. “They don’t think religion or faith in those terms and his comments are in line with some of his other comments, which are pretty reprehensible frankly.”

Mr Albanese said that in the context of six people losing their lives and hundreds of homes being destroyed in the blaze, Folau’s input didn’t bring anything “positive or constructive” to the discussion.

Nationals backbencher Barnaby Joyce also chastised. Mr Joyce told Seven News on Monday it was pointless to engage with Folau. “He throws rocks at us so he feels good, we throw rocks back at him so we feel good … but not one of those actions is making a sandwich for a person fighting the fires,” he said.

Liberal MP Dave Sharma described Folau’s comments as “off the grid”, telling Sky News he disagreed with the sacked rugby star “strongly” and he wouldn’t seek to give him any more publicity. “I think it’s important we focus really on the bushfires themselves and how we deal with them, how we combat them and how we help communities recover,” Mr Sharma told Sky News.

Folau’s latest sermon come as Australia is in the grips of an unprecedented bush fire crisis affecting three states, with four people killed in recent weeks.

What you see out there in the world — it’s only a little taste of what God’s judgement is like,” Folau said.

“God is speaking to us. Speaking to you, to repent and to turn away from this.

“We look back to what God (has) done to Sodom and Gomorrah — it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed that city because of the sin that they were living in.

The rugby star’s Wallabies contract was torn up by Rugby Australia in May after he shared a social media post saying that homosexuals were going to hell unless they repented.

In his sermon at the time, he said same-sex marriage and abortion were “evil in the eyes of God” but were deemed by society as “good”. “This generation is full of arrogance and full of pride,” he said. “They want to turn their back on God. They don’t want to know one bit of who God is because they’re so immersed in their sinful, wicked, evil ways.”

“I knew it was going to be offensive to a lot of people … but ultimately it’s a message of love,” Folau said.

In another sermon in June, he took aim at transgender children, saying the government was letting children, “basically 16 years old or younger”, go through treatment despite “not even knowing what they are doing”.

Folau is speaking the truth about God. The world and even some who claim to be Christian see it as offensive.

In the last days, we are told, the people of the world, controlled by Satan and his demons, will do their utmost to persecute those who hold to the truth of God’s Word.

THE LORD IS ALWAYS AT WORK PARTICULARLY IN CRISIS SITUATIONS

Lord is always at work. In fact, it is specifically in the midst of catastrophe, crisis, and the times when it seems as though the Lord is most absent that He is actually most active. Learning to see gospel opportunities when many others only see crisis is not a skill that comes naturally. Yet it is a skill that the body of Christ must learn. The closer we get to Jesus return the more we are going to see crisis situations and catastrophes. The Bible is clear, the last seven years of history prior to Jesus return will entail Christians going through tribulation and great tribulation in the second half of the 70th Week of Daniel. We are fortunate that God has given us many prophecies concerning His Second Coming so that the church can prepare and even use the prophesied events as part of our evangelism efforts.

Is the church preparing for this period?

We are told that there is a great falling away in the church in the last days. Sadly, we see that happening in our day with much of the church compromising with the world on issues such as gay marriage, homosexuality and other LGBTQ issues.

The catastrophes of history have not been meaningless. God’s plan was that in the fullness of time, He would reveal the hero of the story who would make sense of all the suffering mankind has endured throughout the ages. From the chaos is revealed a mystery of unimaginable grace from God to His creation. More than has ever been given out, by way of indescribable human suffering, God has taken upon Himself in the person of His Son. The promised Deliverer finally came, and His tragedy was greater than any catastrophe to ever befall mankind, for God made “him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Before the first human disaster ever struck, God determined that He Himself would bear all of the suffering of man’s failures on Himself when He would come and die on a wooden cross. If we are tempted to think it has been unfair that God would orchestrate catastrophe in human affairs, can we still remain uncertain in light of this truth?

GOD DOES JUDGE STATES AND NATIONS

NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance banned Emily’s Voice ads from Newcastle buses after a Facebook complaint. Ooh Media has also buckled to pressure, removing the Emily’s Voice heart billboard from the Pacific Highway in Belmont NSW.

It’s difficult to understand what’s so offensive about the scientifically accurate statement that an unborn baby has a heartbeat 22 days from conception. There’s no mention of abortion, no gruesome images or condemnation of any kind.

Abortion is such a protected and revered procedure, that any attempt to open discussion in a sensitive and creative manner, or provide information to encourage women to continue an unplanned pregnancy is met with swift and ferocious opposition.

The abortion zealots do not care about high-profile women coerced into abortion such as Miss X and Jaya Taki, or the many others who regret their abortions, felt they were pressured into the procedure by doctors, abortion providers and culture, such as Madeleine and Stacey.

Is their greatest fear a woman may question whether her abortion was an informed choice, or that women may continue an unexpected pregnancy and experience unexpected joy?

They simply ignore the dozens of stories on notbornyet.com and in books about abortion coercion and medical eugenics such as Defiant Birth and Giving Sorrow Words by Australian author and women’s advocate Melinda Tankard Reist.

NSW is already suffering severe drought. Sadly, the NSW government has no fear of God and is oblivious to the fact that The Reproductive Healthcare Reform Bill 2019 about to be approved by this parliament will bring the State under further judgement by almighty God.

CHURCH IN THE LAST DAYS

Expect God’s judgement on His church in these last days.

Both Ananias and Sapphira, together with Simon the sorcerer, attempted to introduce into the glory of the early Church corrupt values that would have defiled and greatly diminished her glory. However, it was stopped at the door and the glory was protected and allowed to increase.

In like manner, the true judgements of the Lord that produce holy fear and genuine repentance will return to the Church in these “last days”, so there can be a thorough cleansing and the glory of the Lord can be restored. Already, we see a great falling away in the church as it compromises with the world’s values. This will increase as tribulation builds: “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake” Matthew 24:9.  But we also know the “end times” church will receive Holy Spirit power, as in the early church as described in the Book of Acts, so that “this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached to all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14

Smith Wigglesworth prophesied correctly back in 1927:

“There must be special preparation for the return of Christ and at least half of all believers will be totally unprepared. We have to see that these days have to come before the Lord can come. There has to be a falling away. I want to speak to you very exactly. All the people which are pressing into and getting ready for this glorious attained place where they shall not be found naked, where they shall be blameless, where they shall be immovable, where they shall be purified by the power of the Word of God, have within them a consciousness of the very presence of God within, changing their very nature and preparing them for a greater thing and causing them to be ready for translation.

This is the day of purifying. This is the day of holiness. This is the day of separation. This is the day of waking. O God, let us wake today! Let the inner spirit wake into consciousness that God is calling us.”

What an appropriate call for our day. Let us prepare now for what Jesus is calling us to do preach the Gospel of the Kingdom to our circle of contacts, our community where God has placed us.

THE WICKEDNESS OF MAN IS GREAT IN THE EARTH

How quickly the world is descending into the Days of Noah – “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth and was grieved in His heart.” What followed was the destruction of mankind with the exception of Noah and his family (8 people).

What does Jesus tell us about His second coming:

“But as the days of Noah were, so also will be the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark. and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” Matthew 24: 37-39

“Knowing this first: scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying where is the promise of His coming? … For this they wilfully forget; that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded by water.” 2 Peter 3:3-6

In this short video, Jonathan Cahn tells it like it is, the world is operating as if God does not exist, oblivious to the coming judgement. What concerns me greatly, is that much of the traditional church is compromising with the world and no longer standing on the inerrant Word of God. The Word that tells us how the “end times” plays out before Jesus return to rule and reign in the Millennium.

HIGH COST OF REJECTING GOD AND HIS CREATIVE ORDER

Having rejected our Creator, society is hell-bent on rejecting His created order. Society is intent on self-harming.

As I see it, the big cost to rejecting God is missing out on eternal life with our Creator in a new heaven and earth, but I am amazed at the number of people who are interested in only the here and now. Moreover, they seem totally oblivious to the enormous costs that are manifesting now across those nations that are abandoning God’s laws.

Devaluing life:

In the USA, in at least two States including New York, in 2019 it is legal now to terminate a baby’s life at birth.

Book image: Snubbing God - The High Cost of Rejecting God's Created Order

In its twin Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions, which were handed down on January 22, 1973, the Court federalised the issue and legalised abortion for any reason. Tragically, 45 years later, National Right to Life estimates that over 60 million unborn children have lost their lives as a result of those decisions.

Suicide rates rose in all but one state in the USA between 1999 and 2016, with increases seen across age, gender, race and ethnicity, according to a recent report  by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In more than half of all deaths in 27 states, the people had no known mental health condition when they ended their lives. Increasingly, suicide is being viewed not only as a mental health problem but a public health one. Nearly 45,000 suicides occurred in the United States in 2016 — more than twice the number of homicides — making it the 10th-leading cause of death. Among people ages 15 to 34, suicide is the second-leading cause of death.

“At what point is it a crisis?” asked Nadine Kaslow, a past president of the American Psychological Association. “Suicide is a public health crisis when you look at the numbers, and they keep going up. It’s up everywhere. And we know that the rates are actually higher than what’s reported.

Sexually transmitted diseases:

Sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise in the United States. Last year, 2.3 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis were diagnosed — 200,000 more than the previous record number, from 2016, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In fact, the CDC director said, the increase has been “steep and steady” for the past four years, calling it “a persistent and troubling trend.” The most common STD has been chlamydia, with 1.7 million diagnoses last year, with nearly half of those cases in women and girls ages 15 to 24.

Family breakdown:

A huge, painful hash of gender, sex, marriage and family is obvious. In 1960, the height of the post-World War II baby boom, there was one dominant family form. At that time 73% of all children were living in a family with two married parents in their first marriage. By 1980, 61% of children were living in this type of family, and today less than half (46%) are. The declining share of children living in what is often deemed a “traditional” family has been largely supplanted by the rising shares of children living with single or cohabiting parents. The decline in children living in two-parent families has been offset by an almost threefold increase in those living with just one parent—typically the mother. Fully one-fourth (26%) of children younger than age 18 are now living with a single parent, up from just 9% in 1960 and 22% in 2000. The share of children living without either parent stands at 5%; most of these children are being raised by grandparents. Could family breakdown be a cause for the increased suicide rate in young people? The link is inescapable.

Environment

Alternately, idolising and brutalising the environment and living creatures is what we see happening. Moreover, as the world continues to reject God, judgement will escalate exactly as prophesied with increased natural disasters, famine and pestilence.

What we see happening in the world is exactly what Jesus said would be signs of the “end times’ and His soon return to rule and reign with a rod of iron during His Millennial reign on earth. His Kingdom will have come to earth as it is in heaven. The prayer Jesus taught us to pray will finally be answered.
