MARTYN ISLES IS BACK
Since Martyn’s short stint at Answers in Genesis many of us have been wondering what God has next in store for Martyn. It had to be connected to evangelising with a focus on young people because that is the talent God has given him.
Well now we know: Martyn Iles is set to Launch Two New Digital Platforms to Reclaim the Cross and Reimagine Christian Education. At the Crux and Proto are two initiatives designed to proclaim Christ and shape young minds with gospel-centred education.
“At the Crux” is designed to meet growing cultural curiosity about Christianity with a renewed focus on the gospel.
Speaking directly to a generation disillusioned with empty ideologies, Iles said the time had come to stop “simply opening conversations” and instead “bring them all the way to the cross.”
The announcement comes amid what Iles describes as a “resurgence of Christian interest.” Whether that looks like Joe Rogan going to church, Jordan Peterson promoting the Bible, or Donald Trump punctuating “a press conference with, ‘We love you, God’”, for many, “Christianity is interesting again” and is not limited to high-profile political or media figures, but particularly to young men.
At the Crux: Meeting the Moment
The name, “At the Crux”, has been deliberately chosen and crafted to carry three layers of meaning, with three promises:
- A promise of clarity. As in the phrase, “the ‘crux’ of the issue”, the word also signifies something of foundational importance, yet expressed simply and clearly.
- A promise of relevance. Finally, in being ‘at’ the crux, Iles determines that the new platform will be ‘at’ a decisive moment.
- A promise of the gospel. In Latin, crux means “cross,” pointing directly to Christianity’s central and always-relevant message.
In earlier seasons, Iles was best known for his widely viewed series “The Truth of It” and “Living in Babylon”, which tackled modern culture through a biblical lens. Those efforts drew strong audiences and made Iles a familiar name among Australian and international Christians. Now, with At the Crux, he intends to be even more explicit in gospel proclamation.
“I want to take up the curiosity that’s simmering out there – not just to answer people’s questions – but to bring them all the way to the cross,” he said.
The initiative reflects what Iles sees as a God-given moment: to speak into our modern culture not with the “wisdom of man,” but with the clarity and conviction of Christ crucified.
Proto: Reimagining Christian Education
In addition to At the Crux, Iles and his team have unveiled a second major project – “Proto”, a comprehensive Christian education platform designed to equip children from ages 5 to 18 with a robust biblical worldview.
Built in partnership with experienced educators, software engineers and policy experts, Proto promises a cutting-edge app experience tailored for Christian families. It aims to support parents and educators – whether homeschooling or using other educational models – with tools to instil faith, knowledge, and critical thinking from a Christian foundation.
Key features under development include:

Ultimately, the team behind Proto plans to offer not only worldview training but also full-spectrum academic coverage – integrating humanities, sciences and electives into a Christ-centred education model.
Iles leads both initiatives as Chief Executive Officer, bringing years of experience in Christian advocacy, law and digital content. Formerly the Managing Director of the Australian Christian Lobby, which grew by more than 400% during his tenure, he is known more recently for serving in executive leadership with the US-based Answers in Genesis apologetics ministry.
Iles has announced that he is joined by a distinguished team of co-founders, including:
- David Cook, Chief Technology Officer, is a Silicon Valley veteran who helped build Apple iTunes and contributed to platforms like Netflix and YouTube. Converted six years ago, Cook now devotes his technical expertise to Christian mission.
- Dr Paul Henderson, Chief Education Officer, is a global education expert who has advised prime ministers, authored national curricula, and holds advanced degrees from Cambridge, Aberdeen, and other leading institutions.
- José Ziebarth, Chief Product Officer, is the former Head of Privacy at Facebook and an anti-corruption and de-bureaucratisation reformer in Brazil’s government. Once an atheist, he became a Christian seven years ago and now home-educates his three sons with his wife.
“These projects are ambitious—but they’re timely, strategic, and already underway”, Martyn revealed.
“Early support has been encouraging, and we’re praying for provision to fully launch At the Crux and accelerate the build of the new platform.”
At a time when biblical truth is often sidelined or diluted, Iles aims for At the Crux and Proto to fulfil a dual commitment: to proclaim Christ crucified and to raise up the next generation in truth.

WHO AM I? SOLVING THE IDENTITY PUZZLE
I have spoken about Martyn Isles on many occasions as I have watched God use him to mightily impact Australia for Christ when he was with the organisation, Australian Christian Lobby. God has now expanded his ministry by elevating him to CEO of Answers in Genesis (AIG), a ministry based in the USA but started by an Australian, Ken Ham.
Martyn and Ken were recently in Australia where they held a series of meetings in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, and Melbourne entitled “Living in Babylon“. In total, more than ten thousand people were directly reached by the messages and many more are watching them online. If you have not seen them make sure you do and encourage others to do the same.
Martyn has written a book that every pastor needs to read if they are to reach Gen Z, a generation that has grown up with an evolutionary mindset.
Western Schools, Universities, Media, and Governments teach evolution and operate as if God does not exist. Hence we see an obsession with self as seen in the rise of psychology, genders and sexualities, and identity politics. As Martin rightly points out, the identity crisis has resulted in people looking at themselves and coming up with subjective answers based on how they feel and attributes supplied by political activists, ideologues, and pop culture.
Young people are encouraged with notions like loving yourself, living true to yourself, being your best self, following your heart, believing in yourself, living your truth… or phrases like “you do you,” “you are enough,” “you’re worth it,” “you’re beautiful just as you are.” This self-talk has changed the kinds of things people hold up as virtues. We need to be authentic: if your actions are true to “you” then they are good for you and are justifiable. It is the same idea that makes it possible to say, “My truth.” In other words, we define what is right and even what is “true” based on how we feel. Seeing ourselves as the ultimate authority instead of God.
The virtue of self-belief is a staple these days – no motivational speech or life advice is complete without it. The resources we need for our own achievements are found in our attitude to who we are.
The Big Mistake the world is making is that they believe that “self” is good. The Bible and Jesus specifically make it clear that “self” is not good, in fact, it is profoundly bad.
““What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” Mark 17:20-23
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” Jeremiah 17:9-10
GOD IS RAISING UP HIS PEOPLE AT THIS CRITICAL TIME IN HUMAN HISTORY
It is great to connect with the people God has raised up for His purposes at this time in human history. One of those people is Martyn Iles who became known in Australia as God’s spokesperson when he was CEO of Australian Christian Lobby.
Martyn Iles is an effective evangelist, having held successful rallies in several Australian capital cities and drawing thousands, under the ACL banner. In the past, ACL has kept to the task of representing conservative Christians in the public sphere on policy rather than seeing itself as an evangelistic group. It may be that this was a story of a simple mismatch, an enormously talented man who is a gifted communicator who has followed his heart. It may be that a desire to evangelise has moved Martyn Iles away from the priorities of the ACL board. Many Christians will see both sides of that question.
A possible concern has been that the ACL was emerging as an alternative to churches in some respects – for example distributing the Gospel of John to households in the name of ACL rather than through local churches.
Martyn responded to the ACL decision with the following communication to his supporters,
Dear All – I write with significant news that will provoke mixed reactions. After 5 incredible years as managing director of the Australian Christian Lobby, the Board has terminated my employment.
I hasten to add that there is no question of misconduct. Rather, the Board has reviewed ACL’s strategic direction and decided I am not the right person to lead the revised strategy, which focuses primarily on political tactics and less on the gospel. Having heard this articulated, I absolutely agree with them that I am not the right person for that vision. I have always been a preacher first, a politician second (or third……).
Please pray for the Board as ACL manages this process, that their decisions will advance God’s will.
Although I think the strategy isn’t the right one, I leave without bitterness. God’s providence works through all things, including our own disappointments.
Meanwhile, I expect God to open another door. Indeed, some things have already started to happen in that regard – more details on that in due course.

ANSWERS IN GENESIS – A BIBLICAL AUTHORITY MINISTRY
Ten years later Ken Ham reflects on his debates with prominent atheist Bill Nye. The article is titled “What Was the Most Important Thing Said at the Nye Debate 10 Years Ago?” This is an extract from the article featured in Ken Ham’s blog on March 16th, 2024.
Our supporters know that Answers in Genesis has always been a ministry with an emphasis on biblical authority and the gospel. Now, we certainly deal with issues of the age of the earth, fossils, and so on, as they are used to attack biblical authority in our day. The emphasis is on apologetics, providing people with answers to the questions of the day that really attack and undermine God’s Word. But we never divorce what we present from the truth of God’s Word and the saving gospel message. And so many have told me this came through clearly at both debates with Bill Nye.
There was one time in particular during the second debate at the Ark—when I was presenting the gospel clearly to Bill Nye—it was as if he let his guard down and acknowledged our desire was to see him saved for eternity. But then the brick wall went right back up.
In a way, he reminded me of the account of the rich man coming to Jesus as recorded in Mark 10 and Luke 18. This man asked what he must do to inherit eternal life. At the end of the conversation,
He [Jesus] said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. Jesus, seeing that he had become sad, said, “How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!” Luke 18:22–24
He just couldn’t give up the things of this world. I’ve thought about this concerning Bill Nye. For him to turn from the world to Christ would mean he’d have to give up his TV fame, his secular friends who would no doubt scoff and scorn him for his conversion, and so much more. Humanly speaking, it would be so hard for him to do this. Yet, as Jesus stated for us all to be reminded of, “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” Mark 8:36
As I have said many times, issues like evolution, abortion, gay marriage, LGBTQ, and gender are all the same problem—the problem of building one’s worldview on man’s word. They are just different symptoms of this problem. And being the same problem, they all have the same solution—believing the truth of God’s Word and trusting Christ for salvation.
That’s why for me it’s always been vital for the Answers in Genesis ministry (including the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter) to be bold about the truth of God’s Word and the gospel.
Yes, we provide a lot of answers to scientific and biblical questions, but just like at the debate, there’s no point doing this if we are not pointing people to the most important message of all—the message of salvation.
Answers in Genesis will always be a biblical authority ministry, boldly and uncompromisingly standing on God’s Word, equipping with apologetics, and presenting the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.

“WOKE” CULTURE IS AN ATTACK ON THE WAY GOD ORDERED AND DESIGNED CREATION
The new CEO at ANSWERS IN GENESIS (AIG), Martyn Isles explains how AIG will address the issue of woke ideologies.
To be “woke” simply means to be awake. Awake to what? Awake to all the kinds of oppression in society that used to go unnoticed because they are hidden in the “system” we’re living in.
But what is the “system” which is so oppressive? Well, woke ideologies say that things like marriage are part of this system of oppression, or the gender binary, “heteronormativity,” the ethnicities of people, and so on.
They actually think that we can destroy these realities and be less oppressed as a result! But these realities are not “systemic oppressions.” These realities are just, well, reality! They are God’s creation design and order.
Thus, woke culture is an attack on creation. Hence, the answers are in Genesis, because Genesis 1–11 is about God’s design and order in creation. It specifically addresses the things that wokeness attacks.
Right now, there is a wave of compromise sweeping the Western world, including America, on all these woke issues. A generation is being taken out of the church, believing Christianity is bigoted, hateful, and oppressive because it believes in God’s creation order and design.
This woke critique is causing pastors to compromise and the world around us to reject the Christian faith.
But Genesis shows us the connection between how things are made and how we must therefore live. It answers this woke critique by describing realities—like males and females, the fact of only one “race,” marriage, family, and so forth—and then showing that these realities hold the key to understanding our world and living wisely.
Genesis shows that the very things wokeness attacks are for our good!
For the past five years, I have been teaching Australian young people about the connection between Genesis and the woke ideas they are being confronted with. This teaching always had a major impact on them and fortified them in their faith.
Seventy of these young folks have just visited the Ark Encounter to participate in our brand-new, 10-day Catalyst program. They came all the way from Australia just to be there.
Young people are hungry for answers. We’d like to build more housing so that we can run these programs year-round—the demand from around the world is huge.
But Catalyst is only the beginning.
Answers in Genesis is going to focus on equipping this generation with the answers they need to confront the woke era in many ways.
Consider the issue of identity, which is a huge concern these days. People are asking “Who am I?” with no reference to objective truth—whether that be the gospel, the Word of God, or the scientific facts about how we are made. They are left to be governed by their feelings, looking to their sinful hearts for meaning.
This identity question not only leads people into a false view of themselves and of life but is also the basis for identity politics and so much woke activism.
We are addressing this at Answers in Genesis. Right now, our exhibit designers are planning out an identity exhibit at the Creation Museum. It will be near the world-class Fearfully and Wonderfully Made pro-life exhibit.

GOD IS RAISING UP THE MARTYN ISLES OF THIS WORLD FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS

I am certain that God has led Ken Ham and the team he leads at Answers in Genesis to appoint Martyn Exec. CEO to initially work alongside Ken to impact this fallen world for God.
FROM MARTYN ISLES OF ANSWERS IN GENESIS,
As you know, an important focus at Answers in Genesis is on raising up a new generation of Daniels, who will stand firm for God in an increasingly uncertain and anti-God era. “The writing is on the wall.” It’s a phrase that has gone down in history in the Western world. It means that the end of something is guaranteed, although it hasn’t happened yet. This phrase conveys wisdom for us as we discern where we should focus our energies and our funds.
I have just finished writing an article for Answers magazine in which I point out that many of the ideologies that are rising in the West could be described as “lifting ourselves up” against God.
These are the things championed by governments, intellectuals, pop culture, and activists. Things like queer sexuality, transgenderism, race politics, abortion, climate doom-ism, same-sex marriage, and so on. They are all things that take what God has defined in his authority as Creator and redefined them according to our own authority. They all lift up mere humans to the status of gods.
As human beings, made from the dust of the ground, we were never meant to have the authority to define marriage, gender, sex, life, race, or when the planet will end. This is pure arrogance.
We may read Daniel 5 and gasp at Belshazzar’s arrogance, taking God’s vessels and using them to praise false gods. But it’s the same today: we’ve taken God’s good things in creation and used them to serve our own idols. The main idol in our day is identity, the idol of self.
That very night, Belshazzar the king was killed, and the mighty empire of Babylon the Great fell.
A line had been crossed, and it was all over.
It is impossible not to reflect on the sobering lessons for our day. I marvel at God’s grace in withholding his hand of judgment on us for so long. He truly is longsuffering, “not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
While this day of grace persists, we must continue to take the gospel to a rebellious world. Is there anything more urgent?
How long can we resist God’s grace? How long can we raise ourselves up against God?
HOW GOD PROMOTES HIS WARRIORS
Martyn Isles joins Answers in Genesis which I believe was orchestrated by God. Martyn was used mightily by God in Australia when he became CEO of Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) at a young age. Recently, when the Board of ACL decided Martyn was no longer doing the work ACL had been established to do (lobby politicians) and they decided to part company, I was sure Satan must have been behind the move.
Now that Martyn has joined Answers in Genesis which was established by Ken Ham. I am confident God is the prime mover. I knew Ken Ham when he was in Australia. I think it was back in the 1970’s, Ken co-founded Creation Science Foundation (CSF). As CSF played a major role in my coming to Jesus Christ in 1982, I was a keen supporter. When Ken and the CSF Board decided Ken should move to the USA, he asked me if I would take on the role of CEO of CSF Australia. At the time, I was CEO and owner of Christian Press Pty Ltd and knew God was calling me to take Christian Press to the secular market under the banner Care & Share Products so I declined. The man who was destined to take on CSF was not aware of it at first but God had His way and in the end and Carl Wieland took what is now Creation Ministries International (CMI) to become a truly International organisation impacting the world mightily for Jesus Christ. Likewise, God has used Ken to establish a Kingdom ministry, under the banner of Answers in Genesis that is impacting the USA in a mighty way. I am now confident as I am sure Ken Ham is that Martyn Isles is the man God has prepared to take Answers in Genesis to a new level. It Begins with Genesis
God’s people need to stand on the truth of God’s Word beginning in Genesis 1:1 and not compromise with the secular religion of the day—evolution and millions of years. The more this compromise runs rampant in the church, the more we will see people doubt God’s Word in Genesis and be put on a slippery slope to unbelief.
A Biblical Worldview
There is no such thing as being “worldview neutral” because that belief in itself is a worldview! Moreover, Jesus dispelled the myth of neutrality when He stated, “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad
” (Matthew 12:30).
CHRISTIANITY: Followers of Jesus Christ who base their thinking on the Bible—and the values they hold to—are increasingly under attack throughout the culture.
ORIGINS: Creation or Evolution? The evidence reveals incredible design in the universe (e.g. DNA – complex information that controls the machinery of each living cell) and complex laws that control how the universe functions. All the evidence screams Creator not Evolution by random chance from a Big Bang.
CULTURE: Our culture is rapidly decaying as the biblical worldview is ostracized and suppressed. More than ever, Christians need to stand on the authority of God’s Word!
FAMILY: The family is under attack today like never before. The Bible provides solid answers and God’s design for family, parenting, and marriage.
LOGIC: In logic and reasoning eventually you have to appeal to an absolute authority. Which is your authority: the Bible or man’s word?
MORALITY: Does morality—right and wrong—depend upon what the majority decides? Or is morality founded upon the rock-solid foundation of God’s Word?
PRESUPPOSITIONS: Presuppositions are simply beliefs that everyone has that affect how we think, view the world, interpret evidence, and read the Bible.
RACISM: Scripture declares there is only one race—the human race! Since we are all descendants of Adam and Eve and we are all one blood, there is no basis for racism.
SANCTITY OF LIFE: Mankind is made in God’s image and therefore human life is sacred. But euthanasia, eugenics, and abortion flow naturally from pond-scum-to-people evolution.
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF LIFE? Why am I here? What is the purpose of life? Do I even matter? Your worldview determines your answers to some of life’s most perplexing questions.
WORLD RELIGIONS: Is the biblical God just one of many deities? Is Christianity just one of several paths that lead to heaven? How do we know who is right?
GOD HAS USED MARTYN ISLES MIGHTILY OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS
Please pray that God will show Martyn the way forward and bring the right people to support him. God has used him mightily over the past five years and I am confident that He will continue to use him in the years ahead, it will be interesting to see how this unfolds. In my opinion, God raised up Martyn for such a time as this and what he has achieved in the five years he has been M.D. of ACL is remarkable. Although I think the strategy isn’t the right one, I leave without bitterness. God’s providence works through all things, including our own disappointments.

Great Blessings
It is hard to account for all that has happened over the past 5 years. It has been massive and surprising.
But it has been good.
The Lord has blessed our work immensely. I could fill books with all that has happened. From Israel Folau to Babylon and everything in between, it’s like a great wind just blew, and here we are.
In terms of metrics, ACL’s annual income, supporter numbers, donors, and staff numbers have all roughly tripled.
A technologically sophisticated digital campaign platform has recently been completed, to coordinate and empower some 10,000 volunteers (and growing).
The ministry of The Truth of It has brought together massive audiences and gone global, reaching millions.
And the gospel has been declared to the nation, in mainstream media, on alternative media, and through the distribution of millions of gospels by volunteers. In my view, this is our greatest achievement.
I believe Australia has been blessed. That has been God’s doing.

I want to thank you, as a supporter, for being part of this movement. Thank you to those who donated, volunteered, turned up, or simply signed up.
To my staff – I owe you a great debt. Your support has been unflinching. A more faithful and talented group of 40 people can scarcely be found anywhere.
I wish to single out Dan Flynn, for your sacrificial service to me, to ACL, and to the Lord.
Also, Israel Folau. A man who still inspires me because of your courageous testimony, against all odds.
Most of all, however, thank you to all of you who prayed. The burdens were impossible. The spiritual attacks were intense. The stakes were so high. But your prayers got us through – more than you will ever know!
The Future
ACL is now a huge people-powered activist movement making the truth public. The fundamentals are so strong.
Please pray for the Board as they look to appoint a new CEO who can carry the baton forward in a way that accords with their goals.
