This video shows some of the most powerful Christian moments from across the opening week of the NFL season. Consider the message behind two simple words: JESUS SAVES. A Cowboys receiver arrived at MetLife Stadium wearing trousers that had Jesus Saves written on them. Christian faith is about far more than motivation, success or sport.

The Bible says salvation is a gift of God’s grace through Jesus Christ – who lived without sin, died for sinners and rose again.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8–9

From Jalen Hurts praying before kickoff, to John Harbaugh speaking about “our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Jaxon Smith-Njigba saying “Thank you Jesus,” Ryan Flournoy arriving in JESUS SAVES clothing, players from opposing teams praying together, and Amazing Grace ringing around an NFL stadium – the moments just kept coming.

What we do with Jesus Christ matters far beyond anything that happens on a football field. So don’t merely look at these moments and think it’s interesting that some NFL players are religious. Consider what they’re pointing towards. Because perhaps the most important message displayed anywhere around the NFL this opening week was also the simplest and the most powerful.

We need to think about what we can do to get the most important message in the world out to our family, friends, and co-workers.
