Hugh Ross is trying to rewrite the biblical account of the flood. In this episode of Answers News, the hosts, Bryan Osborne, Avery Foley, and Dr. Terry Mortenson, share their perspectives on this topic as Bible-believing Christians.
Answers in Genesis is an apologetics (Christianity-defending) ministry dedicated to enabling Christians to defend their faith and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ effectively.
‘Progressive creationists’ like Dr Hugh Ross,2 who insist on interpreting Genesis in the light of man’s theories like the ‘big bang’, and the supposed ‘proof’ of an old earth (billions of years), insist that those who teach a young earth and literal Genesis 1–11 are the ones putting a stumbling block in the way of scientists and others accepting the Gospel message. However, time and time again, we have found that the opposite is true. Compromising Genesis with man’s ideas from outside of Scripture opens the door to this ‘slippery slide of unbelief’. It becomes a major stumbling block to people being receptive to God’s Word and the Gospel. Unbelievers are generally unimpressed when they see Christians clearly evading the obvious meaning of the beginning of God’s Word.
Your faith will be strengthened by listening to Dr Terry Mortenson defend a young earth by presenting the evidence for Noah’s worldwide flood and the billions of dead things buried all over the world including fossil fuels formed from all the vegetation that was buried.
It is important to remember that Jesus spoke of Noah’s flood when he was telling His disciples about His second coming to earth. He believed that Noah’s flood was worldwide killing all but the eight people on the Ark.
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” Matthew 24:36-39
Moreover, many of the things Jesus said would occur at this time have played out already exactly as He said they would. After Jesus return to earth to rescue Israel at the battle of Armageddon, His Millennial Kingdom is next on God’s agenda for planet earth. Go to http://www.millennialkingdom.net to prepare to rule and reign with Jesus for the next 1,000 years.
Using the Bible, well-documented historical events, and some math, we find that the Flood began approximately 4,359 years ago in the year 2348 BC. Genesis teaches it; Jesus and the apostles confirmed it. It also explains most of the rocks and fossils and obliterates billions of years. Without millions of years , evolution is impossible – not that it is possible if millions of years were granted. We should therefore be prepared to defend a global flood along with the rest of the faith, as well as refute arguments against it.
“But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.” 1 Peter 3:14-16
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.” 2 Corinthians 9:5-6
The world must reject Noah’s flood as it destroys evolution which is their attempt to explain away the Cosmos without God. Noah’s flood also proves that God judged the world and destroyed all but the eight people on the ark God instructed Noah to make. Who wants to believe their creator would do that? Evolution has been one of Satan’s most effective ploys to deceive mankind into rejecting God.
What about now? Both Jesus and Peter told us that people will reject the true history of the world including Noah’s flood at the time before Jesus returns to Earth to rescue His Saints and God pours out His wrath a second time on an unrepentant world with the Trumpet and Bowl judgements.
“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all... so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.” Luke 17:26-27,30
“For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” Matthew 24:38-39
In Peter’s second letter, he prophecies about future scoffers following their own sinful desires and denying Christ’s return. They “deliberately overlook” two foundational truths. The first was God created the world out of water and the second was the global flood of Noah’s day.
“Knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.” 2 Peter 3:3-6
Jesus returns on the clouds with the angels to gather the Saints, first the resurrected Saints and then those alive on Earth. “Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.” Revelation 1:7
God then pours out His wrath upon the Earth with the Trumpet and Bowl judgements. It so happens that His judgement last one year and ten days exactly the same time as God poured out His wrath the fist time with Noah’s flood. Why one year and ten days? When Jesus returns it will be a Jubilee year and the year before a Jubilee year is always one year and ten days.
Catastrophic Plate Tectonics (CPT) proposes that the single pre-Flood continent broke up quickly and explosively (i.e., catastrophically). Originally, the plates moved apart at a speed of metres per second—billions of times faster than today. Many (not all) creationist geologists think CPT is an excellent model to explain the Flood. Note: ‘model’ here means an assumed explanation of how the Flood occurred. It is consistent with the Bible but not a direct teaching of the Bible. But what could cause such fast plate movement?
TOP ROCK BREAKS THROUGH
God created one single continent. At the edges, there was likely some cold rock, denser than the asthenosphere below it. This instability would be ready to sink through any weakness.
But why would God create such an unstable situation? God knows the future. Man would become so wicked about 1,600 years after creation that God would need to start over. So maybe God created a world that would Flood at that time. But what would cause the top part to break through? A clue comes from blacksmiths working with iron and steel. They heat the material red-hot to make it much softer and easier to bend.
Many minerals are the same. They become much weaker when hot and also under pressure—sometimes as much as billions of times weaker.
Eventually, the pressure and heat would weaken the bottom part enough for the top to break through. As rock sank, it would make more heat by friction and cause more stress. The underlying rocks would soften even more. This softening allows even quicker sinking and even more heating and stress, thus even more softening. The rocks would eventually reach speeds of several km/hour, called runaway subduction.
CONVEYOR BELT
As the rock layer sank, it would pull the rest of the plate along, like a giant conveyor belt. The continent would tear apart at the other end, forming the Mid-Ocean Ridges (the world’s longest mountain ranges). Magma would pour up through the tears, evaporating vast amounts of water. This would produce a long chain of powerful steam jets. Remember Genesis teaching of huge ocean fountains erupting? (See Bible verse).
“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.” Genesis 7:11
The steam would eventually cool enough to condense in the air. It would then fall back as a huge global downpour, just as the Bible vividly describes. No ordinary rainstorm lasts 40 days and 40 nights (Genesis 7:12)! Also, the plate movements would push water onto the land. Eventually, all the land would be flooded.
EVIDENCE
CPT explains many things that don’t make sense under the usual ‘slow-and-gradual’ theory. The most important is the subducted plates themselves—plates underneath another plate. If plates had always moved slowly, they couldn’t have forced their way through. Rather, they would have stopped or blended in. But some have pushed down over 700 km.
Also, consider what happens if a hot object is in contact with a cold object. Heat moves from the hot thing to the cold thing until both have the same temperature. Now consider the cool subducted plate inside a much hotter asthenosphere. If the plate had pushed in slowly, over 100 million years, it should have warmed to the asthenosphere’s temperature. Instead, the plate is often thousands of degrees cooler. This coolness makes sense if it was pushed in quickly, only about 4,500 years ago.
BIBLE VERSE
“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.” Genesis 7:11
A CATACLYSMIC EVENT IN HISTORY
The above verse provides the timing of the Flood in real history. It is so important that God tells us the very day in Noah’s life the Flood began. It also tells us how. First, huge fountains in the “great deep” (the oceans) erupted. Next, torrential rainfall. The “windows of heaven opened” is the Hebrew way of saying, “It rained cats and dogs.” CPT is a possible model consistent with the Bible’s true history. The Flood began in the oceans, then came the downpour.
This story was extracted from the latest issue of Creation magazine http://www.creation.com.
Before the worldwide flood of Noah’s day, all people spoke one language. After the flood, God told Noah and his family that he wanted them to populate the entire earth. Once again, mankind was disobedient.
“Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there… Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.”Genesis 11:1-2,4
“Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the Lord dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.” Genesis 11:7-8
All of the languages spoken today have been traced back to a group of language families that bear no relationship with each other—exactly what we would expect when we start with the biblical account of God giving different languages at the Tower of Babel. From an evolutionary perspective, all languages should be related—but they are not! It’s another reminder that the Bible’s history is true. Evolution is a fairy tale not supported by observational science.
The dispersion at Babel set the stage for the formation of different nations and cultures, all descending from Noah’s family. Nations were God’s idea, and from one man, Abraham, He established His own nation, Israel.
Even before they (Israel) went into the Promised Land Moses told them their entire checkered history, including their being cast out of the land and dispersed throughout the nations but also the end of the story when God would regather them and their Messiah will rule the nations. They will be a people, “holy to the Lord your God”.
Nations gathered together in Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernaclesas they will in Jesus’ soon coming Millennial Kingdom.
“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.” Deuteronomy 28:1
“And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them,” Deuteronomy 28:13
“And the Lord has declared today that you are a people for his treasured possession, as He has promised you, and that you are to keep all his commandments, and that He will set you in praise and in fame and in honour high above all nations that He has made, and that you shall be a people holy to the Lord your God, as He promised.”Deuteronomy 26:18-19
“And when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you, and return to the Lord your God, you and your children, and obey his voice in all that I command you today, with all your heart and with all your soul, then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have mercy on you, and He will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.“Deuteronomy 30:1-3
“And the Lord yourGod will bring you into the land that your fathers possessed, that you may possess it. And He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers. And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.” Deuteronomy 30:5-6
Right before His death, Jesus told His disciples key details about His return saying:
“For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” Matthew 24:37-39
This Scripture is important for several reasons.
First, not only does Jesus know the catastrophic historical events recorded in Genesis 6 and 7, but He also knows His audience is familiar with them. Their prior understanding of the flood’s unexpected, total destruction is the basis for His comparison.
Second, Jesus describes the normal actions of the people living in Noah’s day as “unaware” that a flood was coming. This is how we hear people describe natural disasters; they are consistently surprised by them. It is an interesting note of historical authenticity that plays into His comparison.
Third, Jesus says the flood swept them all away. The fact that Jesus is linking an event where “all flesh died that moved on the earth, birds, livestock, beasts, all swarming creatures that swarm on the earth, and all mankind” to His eventual return, means something about that return. It’s going to be big, and it’s going to affect everyone.
According to Jesus, Noah, the ark, and a global flood that killed all the birds, beasts, and people on the earth, were as historically real as His second coming. They are a historical preview of coming attractions that everyone would be wise to remember regarding their timing and scope.
This is one of the many reasons the idea that Noah’s flood was local somewhere in the Middle East is a misguided interpretation. It does not fit the language of Genesis, which is well-known to both Jesus and His disciples and is central to His comparison. Were the flood recorded in Genesis just local, it would make Jesus’ comparison be that ‘my return is going to be local, and it’s going to affect a few living creatures.’ But that’s not what either Jesus or Genesis says.
The fact that Jesus was well acquainted with the actual words of Genesis and knew them to be real history is why it is such a powerful statement. If Noah was not real, or if everyone in the world was not killed, or if the flood was not global, then Jesus’ comments make no sense. Jesus would say to a modern audience debating Noah and the extent of the flood, “Have you not read what I said about them?”
“Is the Bible True? Or Is It Truth?” by Scott Pinsker The article pokes fun at those who read the Bible “literally,” specifically calling out the global flood account as “pretty farfetched.” But the reasons he gives for why “the story of Noah is a tough nut to crack” are the same skeptical objections Answers in Genesis (AIG) and Creation Ministries International (CMI) have addressed for years!
A picture of the life-sized replica of Noah’s Ark built at Williamstown, Kentuck by Answers in Genesis (AIG).It was opened in 2016.
Here are the objections author Scott Pinsker raises, followed by a short answer with links to AIG articles on these topics.
Objection: How could Noah bring “every animal on earth” onto the ark, including “1.05 million insect species, 11,000 birds, 11,000 reptiles, and 6,000 mammals”? Answer:He didn’t need to! Follow the link to the full story, but the short answer is he only needed land-dwelling, air-breathing animal KINDS (not species)—less than 7,000 animals total!
Objection: The fossil record proves there couldn’t have been a worldwide flood. Answer: Actually, it shows the opposite!
Objection: Regionalized flora and fauna prove there couldn’t have been a worldwide flood. Answer: To answer this objection you need to understand the biblical concept of kinds.
Objection: Noah would’ve had to bring freshwater fish into an onboard aquarium or they would’ve died out. Answer: This fails to understand the differences between the preflood world and our world and, again, the concept of kinds. Besides, the account in Scripture states only land animal kinds were on the ark.
Objection: Noah would’ve been required to take 2,000 species of termites on the ark, and surely the wooden vessel wouldn’t survive that. Answer: But Noah perhaps didn’t need to bring insects on the ark, and even if he did, he wouldn’t need all those species!
Objection: Noah could never have cared for so many animals. Answer: Well, he didn’t bring tens of thousands of animals onboard the ark! He easily could have cared for the few thousand he needed to bring.
Objection: Why didn’t Noah bring innocent babies onto the ark instead of having them perish in the flood? Answer: God offered a means of salvation, and everyone except Noah and his family rejected it and therefore kept their children from receiving it as well. Besides, only God determines what is right and wrong. How can a human being determine morality without a basis in an absolute authority?
It’s rather frustrating to see skeptics—Christian or otherwise—mock the Bible for so-called “petty flaws” that thoughtful Christians have addressed for years! Just a few minutes of research on AIG or CMI sites would’ve shown that there are plausible answers to these questions. And yet he just repeats the same tired objections he’s heard from equally uninformed skeptics.
Why does he raise all these objections? Well, it’s to supposedly bolster his main point:
There are infinite ways to interpret the Bible. The Bible is about God, after all, and everyone’s image of God is different: My mental image of God differs from yours. And if we can’t even agree on the starting point, it’s going to be next to impossible to agree on all the twists and turns in the Scriptures.
The historicity of the Bible is a tricky topic—one that’s rife with recriminations, allegations, and declarations of faith. . . . Couldn’t an all-powerful, all-knowing God just as easily create a Holy Book that’s historical AND moral? Then why must it be one or the other? Why not both? Only God Himself knows for sure.
If only God himself knows, wouldn’t it behoove us to look at what God has said about his own Word in his Word and take it as written? One verse in particular immediately comes to mind:
“For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me“. John 5:46
Jesus tells his skeptical audience that they would believe his words if they believed the history written in the Old Testament because it all points to him. God recorded history, not just to teach us some “special wisdom . . . that can transform your soul,” but to point us to the Lord of history, Jesus Christ.
He also gave us his Word—history—for our instruction, so, we can know right from wrong and how to think biblically. Consider that, after refreshing his audience on some Old Testament history, Paul writes:
“Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did“. 1 Corinthians 10:6
“Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come“. 1 Corinthians 10:11
God’s Word is both, historical and filled with spiritual truths—not because I say so, but because God himself says so! (And he would know—he authored it after all! See 2 Timothy 3:16). And besides, Genesis is written as a historical narrative and is treated as such in the New Testament.
In the end, the author asks the question: “Do you believe the Bible is true—that every word and every claim should be taken 100% literally? Or do you believe the Bible is truth—that there’s a special wisdom within the Scriptures that can transform your soul, but truth comes in many forms, and you’ll have to work at uncovering the meaning for yourself?” (emphasis original)
I’ll simply let the Scriptures answer that question: “Your word is truth“. John 17:17, “The sum of your word is truth“. Psalm 119:160, “Let God be true though every one were a liar”. Romans 3:4
God’s Word is truth because it is true—if it isn’t true, then God is a liar and therefore the Bible is not truth. You can’t have one without the other! And to clear up yet another misconception, we don’t take the Bible “100% literally.” We read the Bible naturally, according to genre, as it was meant to be read!
In this fascinating sequel to ‘Is Genesis History?‘, Del Tackett follows the journey of two creation scientists rafting through the Grand Canyon to examine enormous folds of solid rock. What caused these massive formations? And when did they happen? Conventional scientists say they are millions of years old, but no one has actually studied them… until now.
Del Tackett’s first documentary provided an overview of creation science. In this unique sequel, he explore how creation science actually works. What did the Flood do to re-form Earth? How did it shape the world we see around us? And why is Genesis so important to modern science? If Andrew Snelling’s theory is correct, his findings will directly challenge the conventional view that the earth is hundreds of millions of years old. Instead, they will provide clear evidence for a recent global Flood. ‘Mountains After the Flood’ is very different from Del’s first film. It reveals the inner workings of creation science and shows how creation scientists link their discoveries to the history recorded in Genesis. It will give Christians everywhere a deeper understanding of the relationship between science and the Bible.

“The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.” Genesis 6:4
The Hebrew word Nephilim comes from the root naphal meaning to fall. Gesenius in his Hebrew Lexicon notes: “Those who used to interpret the passage in Genesis of the fall of the angels, were accustomed to render Nephilim fallers, rebels, apostates.” The Greek Septuagint (translated approximately 270 BC) translates the word as “the giants” (oi gigantes). This same word was used in classical Greek literature to refer to men or creatures that were half god and half man.
Jonathan M. Hall in his book Ethnic Identity in Greek Antiquity notes that gegenes in fact means “earth born”: “From the time of the Iliad, Erekhtheus was treated as a son of the earth, and Herodotus calls him gegenes (“earth-born”)” “gigantic” or “monstrous.” In Greek mythology the Giants (from gegenes) were the children of Heaven (Uranos ) and Earth (Gaea ) (though some would argue that their father was Tartaros (the hell pit). The giants of Greek mythology, or Gigantes (the earth-born) as they are called in the Greek tongue, were a class of oversized and ofttimes monstrous men who were closely related to the gods. Consider also Kekrôps, who according to Apollodorus (iii. 14. § 1, &c.) was the first king of Attica, was known as “a gêgenês, the upper part of whose body was human, while the lower was that of a dragon.”
If the translators of the Septuagint didn’t want us to think about demigods or men of enormous stature, they sure picked the wrong word! However, if by gegenes they understood hybrids between fallen angels (“the gods”) and women, then they chose the perfect word to describe these ungodly and unnatural creatures which parallels the biblical description of the sons of God (from the heavens) coming down to earth and fathering children. Considering the exposure those Alexandrian Jews must certainly have had to Greek literature and the numerous stories of giants; we would be completely ignoring their testimony if we were to understand the word as anything other than creatures who were hybrids of fallen angels and humans—who were also of colossal stature. In fact, in Greek mythology, these giants were sometimes thirty feet tall! If the translators had wanted to merely indicate that these men were the offspring of the godly line of Seth and the ungodly line of Cain, they should have chosen a different word.
Targum Jonathan translates Genesis 6:4: “Schamchazai and Uzziel, who fell from heaven, were on the earth in those days.” Shamchazai and Uzziel were fallen angels that we saw in the Book of Enoch as the ones that took the daughters of men. Targum Jonathan specifically adds “who fell from heaven” to testify how they understood the word Nephilim. Targum Onkelos similarly translates the verse: “Giants were in the earth in those days; and also, when, after that the sons of the mighty had gone in unto the daughters of men” (Targum Onkelos, Genesis 6:4). The interpretation of this verse is very consistent in the ancient witnesses: Demons came down from their habitation and took wives and from their sexual union came a race of giants which were hybrids: half-man and half-demon.
If one should ask how there could be Nephilim afterward when they were all destroyed in the flood, the answer is simple: the fathers of the Nephilim were demons. While it appears that the demons that crossed the line when mingling with humans were thrown into the pit, other demons must have taken women and had Nephilim with them after the flood. As a result, we discover Nephilim in the land of Canaan when the children of Israel came to take possession of their Promised Land. Upon seeing the Nephilim, they lost faith that God could win the battle for them and so they were taken back to the wilderness where they wandered for another forty years. When they came back to the land forty years later, the Nephilim were still there but the children of God trusted God that He would empower them to destroy them all.
Nephilim = Anakim. “And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim)” (Numbers 13:33)
Anakim = The Emim.
Rephaim = Emim. “The Emim formerly lived there, a people great and many, and tall as the Anakim. Like the Anakim they are also counted as Rephaim, but the Moabites call them Emim. (Deuteronomy 2:10-11)
Rephaim = Zamzummim = Anakim. “It is also counted as a land of Rephaim. Rephaim formerly lived there—but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim— a people great and many, and tall as the Anakim (Deuteronomy 2:20-21a)
Og, King of Bashan = Rephaim. Og the king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim(Deuteronomy 3:11)
Bashan = Rephaim. “All that portion of Bashan is called the land of Rephaim “(Deuteronomy 3:13)
Sihon of the Amorites = Rephaim = Amorites. “For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites” (Numbers 21:26)
Og, King of Bashan = Rephaim = Amorites. His land and the land of Og, the king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, who lived to the east beyond the Jordan (Deuteronomy 4:47). “What you did to the two kings of the Amorites […] Sihon and Og” (Joshua 2:10)
Goliath and his brothers = Aimnakim = Rephaim “At Gath, where there was a man of great stature, […] and he also was descended from the giants [Rephaim, LXX reads: from the giants,], (2 Samuel 21:20).
“Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite [Gath]. […] at Gath, […] he also was descended from the giants [Rephaim, LXX reads: giants, .[…] These were descended from the giants in Gatt (1 Chronicles 20:5-6, 8)
“In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim (Genesis 14:5)
“In the land of the Perizzites and the Rephaim” (Joshua 17:15)
“For you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the Lord said” (Joshua 14:12)
“The name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba (Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim) (Joshua 14:15).
After the battle, which Abram led to rescue his nephew Lot, God showed up and promised to Abram that he would have a son and would inherit the land. He mentions something very interesting concerning the Amorites: “for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete” (Genesis 15:16). Notice that the reason that his descendants will come back in the fourth generation is because of the iniquity of the Amorites, suggesting that the Amorites, who were Nephilim, were performing great wickedness in the meantime.
After Israel received the Law at Mount Sinai. Within a year, God led them up to the border of the Promised Land and God specifically mentioned that His Angel would go “before you and bring you into the Amorites […] and I will cut them off.” (Exodus 23:23)
We find that the Amorites were still in the land into the time of Judges from the passage “do not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell” (Judges 6:10).
The fact that God commanded the Israelites to destroy man, woman, and child becomes logical if we understand that (as the text says) all people in the land were not merely sons of Adam but were a mix between the sons of God (demons) and human women just like in the days of Noah.
“The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them” (Numbers 13:29-33)
The Nephilim are the reason why the children of Israel did not possess the land right after leaving Egypt. The presence of the Nephilim disheartened the spies who consequently gave a bad report despite God’s assurance that He would destroy the Amorites.
“Therefore, understand today that the LORD your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them [the gigantic inhabitants] down before you; so, you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the LORD has said to you.” Deuteronomy 9:3
“Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was as strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit above and his roots beneath.” Amos 2:9

How can we be sure our children won’t be “tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes” (Ephesians 4:14)?
Our grandchildren are growing up in a whole different culture to us. They are going to have to deal with issues that we didn’t have to, what can we do?”
We need to first understand what happened. We need to deal with the foundational issue. It started 6,000 years ago in a garden. Satan said to Eve:
“Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”Genesis 3:1-5
“But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3
Note what the apostle Paul says: The devil is using the same method on you, on your kids, on your grandkids, as he used on Eve to get you to a position of not believing the authority of God’s Word.
The Genesis 3 attack—“Did God really say?” And notice the next part, “And you will be like God.” You decide the truth for yourself. That is one of the problems we see through the whole Bible.
What is the method? To create doubt regarding the Word of God. It is an attack on the Word of God.
Here is the problem, our sinful nature leads us to trust man’s word rather than God’s Word. We want to be our own god and decide right and wrong for ourselves. Our churches need to be laying this foundation and teaching people about our sinful nature and understand the fact of what happened was this . . .
A battle began between two religions about 6,000 years ago, Man’s Word vs. God’s Word. It is the same battle today, the same in Luther’s day, and the same in Peter and Paul’s day. It is the same battle, and it hasn’t changed. The method by which that battle occurs does change through the years, but not the actual battle.
There is no neutral position Jesus makes it clear.
“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” Matthew 12:30
People have this idea that if you do not mention the Bible, when it comes to abortion or gay marriage and many other issues, then you are being neutral. But if you do not have the foundation of God’s Word, that means you only have the foundation of man’s word and that means you’ve already lost the battle.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock... And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.” Matthew 7:24,26
If you reject God, you suppress the truth.
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” Romans 1:18-20
Public education is not neutral. If the system is not for Christ, then it is against Him. So we send our kids there for five hours a day, all year long, and what do we do at home? What is the church doing? We need to be equipped to answer the following questions and God has raised up ministries to provide this information: Creation Ministries International http://www.creation.com and Answers in Genesis http://www.answersingenesis.org
Sadly, most Christians cannot answer even the basic questions. Test yourself with the following questions.
How do you know the Bible is God’s Word? Where did the Bible come from? Who put the Bible together? Why are there those books in the Bible and not other books? Do you believe in God? Where did God come from? You believe in an eternal God? How do you explain that? Who made God? Did someone make God?
Answers in Genesis have built a life-sized Noah’s Ark at Cinncinatti in the USA. They can provide you with all the evidence you need to show that the Biblical worldwide flood of Noah’s day occurred.
Stop trusting in man, put your trust in God. People love the praise of man rather than the praise of God.
Imagine how the disciples felt when near the end of Jesus’ ministry He told them, three times, He was going to die and now He had just told them the temple would be destroyed. It was all bad news so the following conversation between Jesus and the disciples is understandable. Fortunately, Jesus gave them and us incredible details on what will take place before His second coming to Earth and it is not good news for believers because the world will be like it was before God poured out His wrath upon the Earth, the first time with Noah’s Flood.
“As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:3, 9-14
This is one of the reasons that for me the Bible is the word of God and therefore the true history of the world. It does not paint a “pretty picture” of the end as most “made-up” stories do.
