SUPREME COURT’S DECISION ENSURES GOD’S FURTHER JUDGEMENT

It is hard to believe that what is considered a relative conservative Supreme Court with the majority claiming to be Christians would make a ruling which James Dobson correctly stated is such affront to God. What is certain, it will escalate God’s judgement on the nation. It clearly exposes the dire state of the church in America today – no fear of God. The following words of Jesus describe what His response will be: “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realising that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.

“The U.S. Supreme Court has redefined the meaning of “sex” under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act to include “gender identity” and “sexual orientation.” Not only was this decision an affront against God, but it was also a historical attack against the founding framework that governs our nation.The judiciary is constitutionally charged with interpreting the law, not making law. In its 6-3 ruling, the Supreme Court acted as a super-legislature and failed to carry out its primary duty to the American people. In his dissent, Justice Alito writes that the 6-3 majority decision “is like a pirate ship. It sails under a textualist flag, but what it actually represents is a theory of statutory interpretation … that courts should ‘update’ old statutes so that they better reflect the current values of society.” In plain words, it’s not the job of the high court to infuse new meaning into the laws of our land. Americans should be able to rely on what the law says. Instead of upholding this commonsense principle, the court issued a decision that hurts women, ignores biological reality, and calls into question the future of First Amendment freedoms of expression and belief.

Justice Alito laid out the potential consequences of today’s ruling—the end of sex-specific bathrooms and locker rooms; allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports and earning scholarships set aside for women; lawsuits against colleges that refuse to assign opposite-sex students as roommates; punishment for churches who require employees to adhere to biblical models of human sexuality; mandatory coverage for “sex reassignment” surgeries (better described as gender mutilation); and that’s just the beginning.

For conservatives who agonised over and eventually cast a Trump vote based largely or solely on hopes for SCOTUS, this is a bitter pill to swallow. Trump did make a good-faith effort to appoint originalist judges. To the extent that he was able to seek advice and make inquiries, it seems to me that Trump did about as well as he could. 

Sometimes, we need to remind ourselves it is not about “winning,” we’re standing for what is true and God honouring. As Alexandra DeSanctis writes at National Review, now is the time to remind ourselves that Christian conservatism has never been about pleading for exemptions to exercise religious bigotry in the public square. It’s about a vision for the best good of the nation, the family, and the human individual. We may be on the losing side. But we are still on the right side. To quote Gandalf, that is an encouraging thought.

If there was any question that the USA is in the midst of a spiritual war over its very heart and soul, this abhorrent decision removes any shred of doubt. In one of the most difficult seasons for our nation, this is an incredibly dark day and must be countered with great prayer.
