DENZEL WASHINGTON SHARES A POWERFUL TESTIMONY

Denzel Washington, the celebrated actor known for his powerful performances in films like Gladiator II, embraced a deeply personal milestone on Saturday as he was baptised and received his minister’s license at Kelly Temple in New York City.

Kelly Temple Church Of God In Christ has been in the community of Harlem for over seventy-five years. Its Statement of Faith is sound: We believe the Bible to be God’s inspired and only infallible written Word. We believe that there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ. We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for personal salvation. We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer. We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it. We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in the present world.

Addressing the congregation with humility and gratitude, the 69-year-old actor shared: “It took a while, but I’m finally here. If [God] can do this for me, there’s nothing He can’t do for you. The sky literally is the limit”, as reported by Geo News.

Dressed modestly in a gray T-shirt and black sweatpants, Denzel posed for photos holding his minister’s license and baptism certificate, marking a moment of profound transformation.

This spiritual milestone follows Washington’s candid remarks about his faith during a recent interview with Esquire in November. Reflecting on his beliefs in an industry often hesitant to discuss religion, he stated: “When you see me, you see the best I could do with what I’ve been given by my Lord and Saviour. I’m unafraid. I don’t care what anyone thinks.”

He continued, Faith isn’t often talked about in Hollywood. It’s not fashionable or sexy. But that doesn’t mean people here don’t believe.” Washington dismissed assumptions about Hollywood’s collective stance on faith, adding, “There’s no ‘Church Actor Meetings.’ Faith is personal, and I carry mine openly.

Washington’s wife of 41 years, Pauletta Washington, also spoke emotionally during the ceremony, expressing her pride in her husband’s spiritual journey.

“Forty-six years later, here I’m still standing next to him as only God will have it,” she said, adding, “You are the head of our house, and you have set a great example for our children, who are now adults and understand the difference because we’ve shown them.”

“Denzel and Pauletta have four children: John, 40, Katia, 37, and twins Olivia and Malcolm, 33.

Pray that God will use Denzel Washington mightily as he seeks to build God’s Kingdom here on earth.

BONHOEFFRER MOVIE IS BOUND TO ‘INSPIRE AND ENCOURAGE’

Many of us want to believe that, in the face of severe adversity and risk, we would try to prove worthy of a memorable legacy. Indeed, should circumstances ever turn sour, we hope to fancy ourselves as brave, courageous, and willing to stand firm no matter the cost. And yet, for the vast majority of those who have not been severely challenged in such ways, how could we know for sure the way we would react? This is why examples of people who did stand firm amid trial are not just important, but necessary.

Deitrich Bonhoeffer is one of those examples. Maybe you’ve heard the name — maybe you haven’t. Nonetheless, it’s a name worth knowing. Bonhoeffer was a German theologian, pastor, and author. But what makes him stand out in ways not many can is that Bonhoeffer was also a spy and an assassin who sacrificed his life to take apart Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime’s Third Reich as they sought to exterminate the Jews. Bonhoeffer’s story is powerful, and at its very heart is the call to boldly oppose what is wicked — a call applicable to all.

For these reasons (and more), a team has been working tirelessly for over a decade to create the film, “Bonhoeffer: Pastor. Spy. Assassin.” According to one of the producers, Camille Kampouris, the hope behind this movie is “to raise up men and women, old and young, to be like Bonhoeffer, to speak out when there’s evil.” According to The Christian Post, “Releasing in theaters this Thanksgiving weekend, the movie explores the theologian’s decision to shift from preaching peace to allegedly plotting murder, a crime that could alter the course of history.”

The film is unavailable for streaming as it has not yet been released. Check back in December 2024 for online viewing options.

Angel Studios has brought Bonhoeffer back to life by taking viewers on a cinematic journey of danger and determination. As Kampouris added, this movie also highlights both the failures of the church as well as “what a real Christian should be like.” Filmmaker Todd Komarnicki explained how “Bonhoeffer is unlike who we are today.” He added that this movie is not targeted specifically at a Christian audience, as Bonhoeffer’s story could impact anyone. He stated, “His singular courage, his willingness to lose everything, and he had a lot to lose, really stands out in a time where I don’t see a lot of political courage now. The way he grappled with his faith, in the way he was honest about his doubts … [and] followed his calling from God, all the way to the foot of the cross. This man’s life is so extraordinary.”

On Friday’s episode of “Washington Watch” with Family Research Council’s guest host Jody Hice, another producer of the film, John Scanlon, unpacked this striking narrative. According to Scanlon, “The movie is a beautiful production by top Hollywood talent about an amazing story.” More than that, Bonhoeffer is “an inspiring character and someone that will make you come out of the movie wishing that you could be a better version of yourself.”

Hice asked, “What was the experience like in filming a movie like this that you know is true?” For Scanlon, “[T]he experience every day of being on set was deeply spiritual.” He continued, “Bonhoeffer’s life is so rich and … he wrote so many wonderful works. … He was a very prolific author. And, of course, his experience in Harlem in the United States [and] his experience in Germany traveling around the world, all changed him and influenced his thinking.”

Ultimately, Scanlon emphasized, “the Bonhoeffer that we bring to the screen is complex. He’s a man of action as well as a man of thought and words. … I think that he can be an inspiration.” He concluded that for anyone of any worldview “who’s facing evil … I guarantee … they’ll find something in this film to inspire and encourage them. And that’s what we’re hoping for everyone in the audience.”

LAST DAYS LIKE THE DAYS OF SODOM

Sunday’s 90th  Annual Oscar Ceremony reveals the extent of the depths of degradation to which Western society has fallen. In Luke 17:28-30, Jesus reveals that in the last days before He returns it will be like the days of Sodom.

Instead of honouring the best, most entertaining or most worthy movies, acting and craftsmanship, the members of the Academy are nominating and awarding the best antagonistic, anti-human propaganda, promoting radical identity politics and weird abuse, especially in the major categories like Best Picture, Best Acting, Best Directing, and Best Writing.

For example, the movie DUNKIRK, an excellent, patriotic piece of cinematic craftsmanship with no ax to grind, won three major technical awards for craftsmanship but won none of the major awards. What did win the major awards?

1. A bestiality movie attacking traditional American values and promoting abuse.

2. A movie about a 24-year-old graduate intern abusively seducing a 17-year-old boy who himself is fornicating with a teenage girl his own age.

3. A movie from Chile about a man, who’s undergone one of those mythical “sex change” operations and who becomes a better woman than any other woman, including the ex-wife of his dead lover.

4. A horror movie about an old white man and his white friends trying to put his brain inside the body of a young black man.

5. A story about a rape and murder that occurred in a small Missouri town where a bunch of small-minded people live.

6. A movie about an Olympic ice skater with a terrible mother and even more terrible friends who decide to break the leg of her closest competitor.

WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS

Lionel Ritchie preaching what the world needs on stage in Las Vegas – JESUS IS LOVE. Back in the eighties he was told to stop singing it and his other gospel songs or it would ruin his career. Well at the BET AWARDS show last Sunday night, what was meant to be a tribute to Lionel Ritchie was turned into a Gospel presentation by the renowned gospel singer Yolanda Adams as she “belted out” Lionel’s 1980’s hit ‘Jesus is Love’. It got a standing ovation. Make sure you watch to the end of the video to see what Lionel does with the crowd.
