HUMAN PRODUCED GLOBAL WARMING PART 2

Political agendas associated with climate change alarmism

Corrupt politicians: Much of the misinformation (e.g. arguments that the droughts and bushfires in Australia and elsewhere are due to ‘climate change’) comes from politicians who are using environmentalism as a vehicle to push for sweeping social and political change. They are using fear to generate public support to get their ideas implemented. As a prominent civil servant in the Tony Blair era of UK politics said concerning scaremongering over climate change: “In order to manage risk, you must scare people.”84

The approach of the more radical parties to ‘saving the earth’ is to depopulate it. They push for policies that kill people: abortion up to term with no limitations, infanticide, euthanasia, free-and-easy drugs, transgenderism, and rainbow politics. All of these will create misery, kill people, and decrease the breeding of people (look up their manifestos).

They also work for the destruction of the free markets that have been responsible for a massive movement of people out of poverty in the last 50 years (see World Bank report above). The leaders of these parties know that, if they can destroy free markets through confiscatory taxes and masses of green tape, they will destroy the means for people to make a living and create widespread poverty. At this point, they hope the population will, (1) vote for neo-Marxist policies, and (2) decrease. But the environment will suffer (as it has in all Marxist states), but presumably, that’s OK because radical environmentalism is just a means to a political end. It is no surprise that these organisations are also strongly anti-Christian, because Christians stand for the sanctity of human life. Climate fear is thus being used to drive radical political change.

Truth wins out: Michael Shellenberger has been a prominent climate change activist. He has been a long-time advisor to the IPCC and helped formulate President Obama’s energy policy. He now regrets his role in the fear campaign.85 In his book, Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All (2020), he apologizes for his role in scaring people, especially children, with the idea that climate change represented a global crisis and that the world would end soon unless it was addressed. He exposes many of the false claims and the unintended consequences for the environment. He still believes “climate change is happening. It is just not the end of the world. It’s not even our most serious environmental problem.” On Twitter, Shellenberger commented,

Negativity has triumphed over positivity. In place of love, forgiveness, kindness, and the kingdom of heaven, today’s apocalyptic environmentalism offers fear, anger, and the narrow prospects of avoiding extinction.

He joins a growing list of former advocates for radical action on global warming.

A Christian approach—final thoughts

The bottom line is that we don’t have to take any drastic action to limit the warming due to human-generated CO2 to less than 1.5 degrees C.

In summary,

  1. The politicization of climate science has led to the corruption of science.
  2. Over the last 100 years or so, the CO2 level has been increasing. However, the temperatures over that time have not been consistent with the hypothesis that human-generated CO2 is the prime cause of temperature increases.
  3. The science is not ‘settled’, or there would be one model, not over a hundred, that attempts to predict the global temperature. Furthermore, the official climate models that have predicted up to 4.5C of global warming with a doubling of the CO2 have failed all five tests applied to them. They should be rejected.
  1. Because positive feedback does not operate, the warming from a doubling of the CO2 is likely to be less than 1°C, which would be beneficial to life on earth. Indeed, this is less than the 1.5°C of warming that the draconian policies formulated to limit CO2 production were set to achieve, based on the failed models.
  2. The impact of global warming on various natural disasters has been hyped and is not supported by the evidence.
  3. There is no climate emergency.
  4. The economic impact of radical policies to limit CO2 will most seriously hurt the poorest people.
  5. Because humans are intelligent and industrious, we can apply our God-given abilities to solve many (real) environmental issues, especially if we are guided by a Christian worldview.

The idea of dangerous climate change due to burning fossil fuels is unfounded in sound science, and divorced from biblical history.

As part of good stewardship

Christians should be at the forefront of a decision-making process that balances the needs of all the stakeholders: both in terms of economic development and in minimising negative impacts on the environment. A Bible-based approach to government, the environment, and justice will result in human flourishing, as it has in every country that has been strongly influenced by the Bible’s teaching (see The Bible is the bedrock of civilized society).

Clearly, there can hardly be a Christian approach without Christ. Christians need to be pro-active in working to see others come to faith in Christ. In doing that we will also be once again laying the foundations for human flourishing, but also the flourishing of the planet because man is needed to look after it; that’s the way God designed it to be. Indeed, Hosea 2:18–23 connects the health of the land to the spiritual health of the people.

There is a sickness in many once-Christian countries, and it began with the undermining of the Bible as the Word of God from the beginning. When we see the Lord Jesus Christ once again honoured as Creator and Saviour of the world, we will see health return to our nations.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8)

LIFE IS MEANT TO BE JOYFUL

“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10

Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.Psalms 32:1

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” Isaiah 52:7

“We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.” 2 Corinthians 6:10

Until Christ cures this world, our happiness in Christ will be punctuated by sorrow. Yet somehow an abiding joy is possible even in suffering. Jesus tells us in one of the Beatitudes: “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.Luke 6:21b

“There is nothing dreary and doubtful about [life]. It is meant to be continually joyful. . . . We are called to a settled happiness in the Lord whose joy is our strength” (Frank Houghton, Amy Carmichael).

Morning Prayer: Pick me up Lord, and hold me in your loving arms. Protect me from the pressures of the day …

Spoken by the missionary Amy Carmichael (1867–1951), who brought the gospel to countless children she rescued from temple prostitution in India. She experienced much physical suffering and didn’t have a furlough in fifty-five years and yet she could say life is meant to be continually joyful.

Happy people look beyond their difficult circumstances to the One whose grace brings light to the darkness and smiles to our faces in the most unlikely moments A.W. Tozer in his book Who Put Jesus on the Cross?

“The people of God ought to be the happiest people in all the wide world! People should be coming to us constantly and asking the source of our joy and delight”

Blessed are those who mourn; [for] God will comfort them!” (Matthew 5:4) Present happiness is derived from the promise of future comfort. The eternal perspective of God’s children informs them of true and ultimate happiness they can anticipate now (see Psalm 16:11; 21:6; 36:7–10; 37:16, 43:4; 73:28; John 10:10).

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.” Psalms 51:10-12

IN WHOM IS YOUR HOPE PLACED?

Acts 5.40-41,when they (Sadducees) had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.”

After being beaten, Peter and the other apostles were rejoicing.

The same spirit in the Apostles is in us. So, we have the power to stay faithful and rejoice, if we acknowledge His presence and ask Him.

1 Peter 4.12-13 “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when His glory is revealed.

Our hope is in the knowledge that Christ has already won the victory over Satan and that He made it possible for our Heavenly Father to send the Holy Spirit to be all we need to be overcomers during the coming tribulation and trials. Also, we know that His glory will be revealed at His second coming and that Biblical prophecy reveals we are in the “last days” prior to the final seven years before Jesus’ return, spoken of first in Daniel’s 70 weeks prophecy.

First coming in the clouds to raise the dead Saints and rapture the Saints on the earth
Second coming to earth, after God’s wrath has been poured out on an unrepentant earth with the trumpet and bowl judgements. Jesus returns with the Saints to redeem Israel and rule and reign for 1000 years

THE MOST IMPORTANT END TIMES PROPHECY

We can expect that Jesus will be the one that gives us the most important end-times prophecies. The following end-times prophecy by Jesus is the first specific prophecy, as well, it calls for action. Jesus even says “let the reader understand” and He tells us to go to Daniel for more information on the man described as “abomination of desolation”.

So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.Matthew 24:15-16

It (Little Horn/Antichrist) became great, even as great as the Prince of the host. And the regular burnt offering was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown. And a host will be given over to it together with the regular burnt offering because of transgression, and it will throw truth to the ground, and it will act and prosper.” Daniel 8:11-12

For how long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled underfoot?Daniel 8:13

ONLY AFTER THE TRIBULATION, WILL JESUS RETURN

Dr Brock Hollett does a great job of expounding Scripture to show Jesus return to rapture the church will not occur until after the great tribulation and the appearance of the Antichrist (Abomination of Desolation) described by Jesus in the Olivet Discourse.

I do not think that Samuel Frost made his case for the partial preterist position. Let me know what you think and why. It would be good to get some feedback so I know how to help you, and no doubt you can help me particularly to connect with other Christians who have a passion for revealing the truth about Jesus and therefore about God.

REQUEST FOR FUNDS TO SUPPORT MISSIONS TRIP IN KENYA

Th following email was received from Pastor Charles Otieno from Migori Kenya, I am supporting Charles and two other pastors in Kenya who are passionate about setting up Book of Acts – Home Church groups. As most of you know, I am 84. I am also a pensioner now so am limited in what I can contribute. I would appreciate your help to raise the $380 they need. You can click the donation icon on the front page to make a secure donation. Any amount received in excess of $380 will be used to set Charles up so he can hold Zoom meetings with appropriate training organisations.

I pray that this finds you Ron, your children, and the community of Living Eternal Now (LEN) followers in good health, and the Lord’s presence through all your days.

We are just remaining with 5 days, to our forthcoming mission trip, planned to begin on November 5th-8th, 2020. At Kogaja village, 1km away from the republic of Uganda.

It will be a one day drive, covering approximately 1500 kilometers ,and we shall need to start our journey early in the morning of Wednesday 4th.

Pastor, Alfred, Maurice, Jacob, Jactone, Melkio, Johaness, and Seth, and some church group members, have all confirmed their presence with me on the trip.

I pray and believe that our trip will be of a great blessing to us, and to the people of that area. And we expect to see a positive outcome from the trip.

Our host, brother Saoke has informed me that preparation for the meeting is at high gear. And as much as the meeting is concerned, they are suggesting we hire a tent, saying that the attendance might be big, and couldn’t be seated in a house.

It is apparent that the meeting is going to cost us a large expense, more so on fueling our two vehicles, tent hire, hotel, and food.

All church group members and pastors have helped contribute to our trip, but still is not enough. The little contributed can only help cater for tent hire & food.

Our own total budget for the trip is Kshs 51,500/

We have already Kshs 23,000/ at hand.

Request: I kindly ask you to help support us with A$ 380, which can be approximately Ksha 28,500, depending on the exchange rate of the day.

THE QUESTION OF GOD’S EXISTENCE

No doubt this is the most important question you can ever ask. As renowned French philosopher and mathematician Blaise Pascal said, you’re betting your eternal destiny that you are right.

Is what I believe true? I cannot think of anything more tragic than to live life with a false view of reality. A false view of the existence of God.

Armand Nicholi was a clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and author of the book, The Question of God. The book is based on a course he taught at Harvard’s undergraduate school. In the course, he compares the lives and beliefs of Sigmund Freud, the atheist, with C.S. Lewis, the Christian. In the prologue of the book, Nicholi writes some interesting words contrasting these two men’s views on the existence of God.

Are these worldviews merely philosophical speculations with no right or wrong answer? No. One of them begins with the basic premise that God does not exist, the other with the premise that He does. They are, therefore, mutually exclusive if one is right, the other must be wrong.”

Ultimately, the belief which is true will be consistent with the real world and the one which is untrue will present a view of life that is not in harmony with reality so the investment of your time to settle the matter is mandatory.

Another consideration, if we live our life with the view that God does not exist then our life is going to be very different from the person who believes God does exist.

As a believer, I know I will be judged by God for how I lived my life on His earth. God instructs me to love my neighbour as myself and that I must forgive those who treat me badly regardless. Imagine the world if we all lived this way.

As an unbeliever, I can make up my own rules on how I live my life. This is all there is so I might as well make the best of it. It is after all the survival of the fittest. Abortion, euthanasia, homosexuality, gay marriage, transsexuality, all good, in fact, anything goes if most of us agree on it.

The world we live in now is fast abandoning God and His commands and we are seeing all of the above with lawlessness escalating. All those who hold God’s values are facing increasing persecution.

God’s Word, the Bible, predicts exactly what we see unfolding in the world today. The prophesied events are those that lead up to the wrath of God being poured out on the earth prior to Jesus’ second coming. How different it will be from Jesus first coming to earth. The second time He comes as king leading an army that defeats the Antichrist at the battle of Armageddon. He will then rule the nations from Jerusalem. The world will be His Kingdom and He rules the nations with a rod of iron.

Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness, He judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems, and He has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron.” Revelation 19:11-15

The Rapture of the Saints those dead in Christ and those alive on earth happens after the tribulation period spoken of in Daniel and Revelation that refines the church. The Rapture initiates the wrath of God being poured out on an unbelieving world. Jesus meets the saints in the air and takes them to heaven. Everyone on earth will see Jesus and know that the wrath of God that is poured out over the next twelve months and ten days is God’s judgement (The wrath of God poured out on the earth in Noah’s day also lasted 1 year and ten days). After this, Jesus returns to earth as captain of the army of Saints to defeat the army of the Antichrist.

CAN WE KNOW GOD IS REAL?

Nabeel Qureshi, ex-Muslim turned Christian apologist, died in 2017 after a year-long battle with stomach cancer. The 34-year-old left behind a wife and two-year-old daughter.

Qureshi published three books, Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity, and Answering Jihad: A Better Way Forward, and No God but One: Allah or Jesus? A Former Muslim Investigates the Evidence for Islam and Christianity.

Qureshi made the official announcement of his cancer diagnosis August 2016.

“This is an announcement that I never expected to make, but God in his infinite and sovereign wisdom has chosen me for this refining, and I pray he will be glorified through my body and my spirit. My family and I have received the news that I had advanced stomach cancer and the prognosis is quite grim,” he said in a Facebook post.

Qureshi continued to share the gospel and updates on his treatment through videos on his social media page.

In the last video before his death, he said he hoped he leaves behind a legacy of love.

“As you consider my ministry, I hope it leaves a message of love, of peace, of truth, of caring for one another,” he says. “Our God is a God of love.”

FROM FORTUNE TELLER TO FAITH IN JESUS

Amanda (not real name) and her husband come from a small Muslim village in Northern China. Amanda had a secret. She was a fortune-teller. Word began to spread that Amanda was exceptionally good at her ‘craft’ of fortune-telling, and people travelled from other villages to ask guidance about their future and seek solutions for their problems. But then Amanda was struck by a mysterious illness. One day she awoke and was unable to move any of her limbs. Her husband rushed her to hospital, but the doctors were unable to diagnose the problem. “I was so afraid,” Amanda recounted. “Somehow I just knew God was punishing me. I knew I must have done something to displease him.” Amanda’s sister was a Christian and visited her in hospital.

She told Amanda, “Jesus is the only Saviour for all mankind.” That night Jesus revealed himself to Amanda in a dream. “In the dream, I was in a taxi and it was very dark outside,” Amanda recalled. “We were driving into complete darkness. Suddenly, three men wearing white robes with radiant light all around them appeared on the right-hand side of the car. I couldn’t see their faces, but they told me it was time for me to make a choice. As quickly as they had appeared, they were gone. “Then two men wearing black robes appeared to the left of the taxi. They approached me and tried to entice me to join them on their side of the car. Something drew me inexplicably to the pure white robes, so I got out on the right-hand side of the taxi.

“I woke from the dream and knew immediately that one of the men in white robes was Jesus, and that I was to follow Him. I prayed right there in my bed and immediately the paralysis left my body. It has never returned.” Miraculously, her husband experienced the same dream months later, and also came to faith. Amanda’s ‘craft’ has been changed by her encounter with Christ. Now, when people come to ask for wisdom and solutions to their problems, Amanda points them towards Jesus. She prays that he will illuminate their lives with his truth and love.  But Amanda’s conversion hasn’t been free of persecution. When her father-in-law found out that she had become a Christian, he lost his temper and began to treat Amanda and her children with contempt.

“On one occasion, I had to go out, so I left my children in the care of their grandparents,” Amanda shared. “When I came back, I found bruises on their faces. My heart just broke.” To this day, Amanda’s children are afraid of staying with their grandparents. In spite of the persecution from her relatives, Amanda continues to share the gospel with others. Many have found the Lord, and up until the coronavirus crisis began, they were meeting once a week to read the Bible and pray together. Even in the hardest places to follow Jesus, his light is continuing to shine through believers just like Amanda.
