HE WHO CONTROLS THE MEDIA CONTROLS CULTURE

Dr. Ted Baehr is Founder and Publisher of MOVIEGUIDE®:  The Family Guide to Movies and Entertainment and Chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission. It is encouraging to know God has his man in Hollywood to influence what comes out of there.

Ted’s life’s purpose is to be used of God to redeem the values of the media while educating audiences on how to use discernment in selecting their entertainment.

“He who controls the media controls the culture” – Ted Baehr.

“If God created us, we have incredible value,” he says. “And if Jesus gave His life for us—God of gods, light of lights, King of kings—gave His life for us, we have double the incredible value. And that means, we have the fulfillment of Christ – the presence of God’s Holy Spirit in our lives so we can do His will—not because we are forced to, but because we love to.”

Holy Spirit is invading Hollywood

Ted says. that’s an entirely different universe than the secular world is in. They can’t comprehend thinking and living that way. But as Christians continue to make wholesome, God-honouring films and as Hollywood continues to increasingly honour biblical values in its movies, we may just see a huge turnaround in this nation.

Baehr says Hollywood is beginning to realize they can make good money by creating wholesome movies. This is something Baehr has been trying to communicate to Hollywood influencers for years.

“What we say to them is: ‘Every week there are about 125 million people who go to church, and there are only 25 million people who go to movies,’

So instead of bashing Christians or church in movies, producers are beginning to put more positive references to God, Christianity and church in their films. Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean they’re taking all the bad things out, but it does show they’re beginning to realize the value of biblical, family-friendly values.

And not only that, but God is raising up more Christians to produce faith-based films that are only getting better and better. Baehr says he has had the Erwin brothers and the Kendrick brothers at his Movieguide® awards—proof that just because a film is Christian doesn’t mean it’s boring or of poor quality.

“We see that the independent world, which used to be monopolised by that sort of edgy, politically aggressive, deviant-type movie, is now being invaded by good Christian beliefs—and they’re the ones that are doing better at the box office,” Baehr says. “… We can affect Hollywood movies, because it’s a direct vote at the box office.”

OPERATION GOOD NEIGHBOUR

Considering all the bad publicity surrounding the Jews, it is good to learn of projects such as Operation Good Neighbour and to see how it totally changed the two otherwise hostile neighbours. Joel reveals the story on this edition of The Underground. You will need an hour. Note how it eventually changed Lt. Colonel Marc Moreno the IRF officer in charge of the project

LGBTQ ACTIVISTS AGENDA

Activists believe that a major oppressor of LGBTQ young people are their parents with Christian moral values. The mere teaching of those values is enough to cause harm to a vulnerable LGBTQ child and therefore ought to be stopped. So “conversion therapy” really comes to mean anything less than positive affirmation of a child’s felt gender identity of sexual orientation at any given time. It could become “conversion therapy” to affirm your male child as a boy if he feels like he might be a girl after speaking with the school counsellor. It could become “conversion therapy” to uphold a Biblical sexual ethic in the family home. Same goes for Christian schools, everybody including our Prime Minister and many Christians agreed that legislation needs to be reformed to prevent gay students being expelled from religious schools. However, the dark side of this legislation is that it would make it impossible for Christian schools to uphold a Biblical sexual ethic in the conduct of their staff and student body.

The laws which enshrine the outlawing of conversion therapy are nothing less than an excuse for the long arm of the government to reach into homes and label Christian parents “domestic and psychological abusers” (words taken from the Australian Labour Party’s conversion therapy policy).

They would also prevent pastors, counsellors, and other Christian professionals from teaching the truth that change comes through Christ; the very gospel itself. This is perhaps one of the most insidious political agendas at work today, and yet it presents as totally compassionate.

It is no wonder that Solomon later wrote: Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. [Prov 4:7] Let us be those who are wise, understanding the times in which we live, and discerning what is right and what is wrong in the agendas that are pushed all around us.

Hebrews 5 calls us to become “those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”

“In the last days they will call evil good and good evil”.

WILL CHURCHES BE ABLE TO TEACH GOD’S VALUES ON MARRIAGE AND SEX?

The following is taken from an article in The Australian by Michael Sexton May 29, 2018, it reveals the nation has largely rejected God, HIS Word and His values and persecution of believers who hold to the inerrancy of God’s Word is not too far off.

The Ruddock inquiry into religious freedom, instituted by the Australian Federal Government in the wake of the legislation authorising same-sex marriage, has completed its work but its findings have not been made public yet. In many ways the real issue is one of freedom of speech and is not a problem confined to religious bodies.

It has been said that the complaints of some of the Rugby Australia sponsors about Folau’s statements raise an issue of freedom of speech. But it is a fact — sad or otherwise — of modern Australian life that a highly paid sportsman or sportswoman cannot continue to make public statements, especially unfashionable ones on moral questions, that alienate sponsors and expect to survive, given the views that dominate almost all public institutions in this country and the boards of most large corporations.

But, the real issue of freedom of speech in this area is whether churches will be able to continue their traditional teachings in pulpits and schools in the light of state and territorial legislation that makes it illegal to engage in conduct that offends or otherwise injures the feelings of individuals on the basis of, for example, their participation in same-sex marriage.
