I received the following report from the leader of the Kenya House Church Movement, Charles Otieno Owino (otienochris@yahoo.com).
I am 90 next year and have been diagnosed with leukaemia, my white blood cell count is low and not improving so I am keen to hand over the support and promotion of this ministry to a group who understands the importance of the Home church movement particularly for the church in poor regional areas such as the one Charles is operating in.
This picture was taken in 2018 when I visited the KHC group for a three day training session in Migori, Kenya. Charles holds church in the tin shed where we held our meeting. Each of the attendees received a copy of my book Living Eternal Now – Ready for Jesus Return. Charles is the big man on the far left of the picture.
KHC Movement Report, July 2025.
We are doing well. Praise the Lord! God is doing some amazing things with the KHC movement We are currently ministering in the three Muslim regions/ towns within the republic of Tanzania. And a fourth to start on the first week of August. This has all been at the request of the city leaders in those areas!!! Hundred have committed their lives to Jesus and been baptised! God is definitely working in Kenya and also in several places in East Africa . Many Home Fellowship meetings are meeting twice each week and 73 house churches have been started! We have not been able to gather enough money to make the trip to Uganda but God opened a great door in Mwanza, in the area of Mabatini. I thought this could be the right time for me to ask to receive even some small funding to help me and the KHC movement move forward.- But God knows the needs in place, He is our provider!
I received the following email from the leader of the Kenya House Church Movement in the north of Kenya. Charles is based in Migori, close to the border of Tanzania.
Hi Ron, Glad you will hit 88 yrs next week and you are using your years wisely. I will be praying for your son Glenn that God will use this life-threatening illness and he will come back to Christ. Your commitments and effort to writing and LEN posts is a great blessing to the entire KHC family. We shall keep upholding you, your family, and your grandchildren in our prayers. Keep praying for me and the KHC movement, We just came from a discipleship mission trip to Tanzania now 4 days ago, a successful meeting. We were able to witness the mighty working of God in our midst. I have attached some pictures.
Blessings, Charles
I am unable to support the KHC group as I have in the past so I am hoping that God will prompt some of my readers to connect with Charles and provide support, prayer, and finance as God leads. You can donate on this website see the link on the Home Page or contact Charles directly Phone:. (254)741196559, Email otienochris@yahoo.com, Address: Charles Otieno Owino, Isbana Rd, Migori Kenya.
Charles is the large man on the left of the bottom picture. This was taken on my visit in 2022. We had a meeting of house church leaders. Some are holding a copy of my most recent book: Living Eternal Now – Ready for Jesus Return.
I have posted many KHC Mission Trip posts on this website over the years. The picture below is from my trip to Migori, Kenya to meet up with House Church leaders in 2022 for a three-day training meeting. The KHC founder/leader, Charles Otieno Owino is the big man on the far left of the picture. I am the only white man in the picture. I was 85 when this picture was taken. I have been financially supporting KHC since it was 7 house churches. It is well over 20 now. The KHC movement is servicing the rural areas in the north of Kenya and now into Tanzania. It is based on the church as described in the Book of Acts, there are no paid pastors and no church buildings. The email below is from Charles in response to an email I sent him. Basically, I am no longer in a position to send substantial funds to support the KHC Mission Trips so I said I will do my best to get the word out about the KHC Movement knowing that God will raise up supporters if this is work that He wants done.
“Thank you, brother. I believe God has a good plan for me, and the KHC movement. I always believe in God for His promises, even though sometimes His promises to us seem delayed. Invariably something better unfolds before our eyes.
It has been a long journey to bring the KHC movement up to where it is today, with only you giving us financial support. Until now and in all those years no one else has come up, ready to help fund the KHC movement. But I’m sure and without any wavering thought that God’s time will come whereby He will start to bring in one or more people to help KHC move to the next level. And I again say ” I’m sure” Only, let us make known put our request in prayers.
I will keep you in my prayers for a successful mission trip to Perth, via Melbourne and Adelaide. I am sure God will bring a positive outcome. Greetings to everyone, and also family in Perth whom you are visiting. Shalom”
If you would like to support the KHC Movement you can do so by clicking on the Donation icon on the Home Page. It was set up for KHC donations. You can also connect directly with Charles Otieno Owino: Email: otienochris@yahoo.com, Address: Isbana Rd, Migori Kenya, Phone: 254 741196559
I support the Kenya House Church Movement (KHC) in the regional areas of Kenya and have done so for three years. It started in Migori with Pastor Charles Otieno Owino and there are now at least 24 House Church groups. The picture below shows House Church leaders who came together for a three-day meeting when I visited Migori in April 2022. I am the only white man in the picture.
Recently I received the following email from Charles concerning the flood waters that are wreaking havoc in Migori County as reported in The Star Worldwide.
Nine dead, 413 displaced as floods wreak havoc in Migori
At least nine people have been reported dead and more than 400 people displaced as heavy rains and floods continue to wreak havoc in Migori County. “We are on high alert to respond to emergencies in real-time when they happen and we have called on people to move to higher grounds,” Migori county secretary Oscar Olima said.
Email from Charles: The waters have invaded our area from yesterday evening and we have been ordered to move to higher ground. It is so sad! We have had much nonstop rain, day and night. El Nino rain is a bad companion! Many have died. We are in great despair but we believe hope will overtake despair and joy will overtake sorrow! There are times when God removes the trouble and gives victory; sometimes He leads us through the trouble to victory.
My prayers and our prayers are that the Holy Spirit will help us to always see trouble in the light of victory. Victory preventing the crisis is great, but often the victory after the crisis is even greater. However it comes, my eyes are on you, Lord! Amen
Please keep the KHC movement in your prayers for God’s multiplication, protection, and safety. I will also pray for you so the Lord makes you fruitful in His harvest fields, and that he may give you effort, and deep insight as you continue to fulfill your commitment to publish millennial teachings and planting house churches in Sydney and in the other parts of Australia.
May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen
Charles has not asked for money but I would like to send funds and know that Charles will distribute any money we send wisely. If you would like to donate you can do so on my Home Page or directly to Charles.
This report from Pastor Charles is very encouraging. The pictures make it come alive and show that spontaneous prayer dominated the meetings.
Pictures 1, 2 & 3 show marketplace evangelism at Uriri. Believers are moved to spontaneous prayers after hearing the gospel message on salvation and repentance.
Picture 4, In the home of our host Mr Bonface Ayoro, Pastor Charles preaching on being prepared for Jesus second coming.
Picture 5. Mr Jackson Okumu and his three wives are being prayed for salvation, repentance, and healing – one of his wives, Mrs Dorsila Okumu was healed of a tumour. This was her testimony: “I started to feel a lump in my lower abdomen, and I had to seek medical attention. I was diagnosed as having a tumour. My doctor told me I had to be operated on as soon as possible because it had grown so large. I was so troubled in my heart and had no peace at all. Today, I’m glad Dr Jesus performed his own operation, and now I don’t need an operation! She expressed her excitement, the tumour is gone! I can no longer feel it in my body!”
Picture 6. Mrs. Susana Odhiambo (left and arms raised) – a 35 years old woman working in the education department, she wanted to accept Jesus as her Saviour and Lord and was delivered from demonic depression by Pastor Saoke in the process.
Picture 7. Pastor Saoke shared the gospel message of salvation with a young gentleman who had attended our gospel meeting.
Picture 8. Mr. William – a motorbike driver had broken his right leg in an accident five months ago and that leg had not healed properly. His range of movement was limited and it was very painful. Naturally, this disability impacted his ability to do work. Upon hearing our gospel message of salvation, he surrendered his life to Jesus and his leg was healed, the pain was gone. Mr. William later testified: “Wonderfully, Jesus has done what the doctors were not able to do. I’m healed! I thank my Lord, He is my saviour forever.”
Picture 9. Shows people at the marketplace meetings in prayer. Spontaneous prayer was the feature of the Mission and confirmed that the Holy Spirit was leading the way.
Pictures 10 & 11. A roadside meeting showing Mrs Hannah a 30-year-old woman who had been an alcoholic gave her testimony of repentance, healing and salvation. She has a dark grey skirt and an orange top, standing in picture 10 and on her knees in picture 11.

OUTCOME: A new House church was established in Urir with 15 believers. Mr Bonface Ayoro will lead the new house church. Pastor Harisson Ojiji will act as a mentor to help him oversee the church.
Testimony from Mr Bonface Ayoro: “May God bless you for your commitment to serving the Lord and your efforts in making Disciples for Jesus. I have been listening to you and your ministry since 2019. I now feel I am a part of the Kenya House movement. I count it a privilege to be a part of the work our Heavenly Father is doing through you and your ministry partners. I was part of the religious institutional church model for over 15 years. It does not make disciples of Christ. I look forward to being part of the KHC movement to make more disciples for the Kingdom of God.
I have been blessed to be part of growing and ministering to the KHC movement for over four years now. If you feel called to help then please send me an email at ron@bakb.com.au or you can donate on the Home Page.
Great teaching on Jesus model for the church by Jim McCotter. Jim has established hundreds directly and thousands indirectly of House Churches around the world. In this video, Jim is teaching a few believers and everything is backed up by Scripture. Many of you will have Ah-Ha moments as I did.
Most of you know I have been supporting the growth of the Kenya House Church Movement (KHC) for about four years now and have seen growth from six to twenty-one house churches over this time period. I now believe that God has brought Jim McCotter into contact with KHC to take it to next level. Two of the KHC leaders are now participating in training with Jim on Zoom. This video is the first in that training series – 5 Reasons for House Churches.
I have recently posted a report on a KHC Mission Trip to Olasi. If you have not seen it please do so. I would like to get the leader of KHC, Charles Otieno Owino mobile again. There is a picture of Charles and his broken vehicle at the bottom of the post.
REPORT ON KENYA HOUSE CHURCH MOVEMENT MISSION TRIP REPORT TO SORI URBAN CENTER
Arrival: 7th, June 2022 and Depart: 12th, June 2022 Purpose of visit: Discipleship
Host: Mr David Okanga Anjejo. Report by: Pastor Charles Otieno Owino
Normally we hold a lot of outdoor meetings, but this trip we held more indoor meetings as Sori experienced a lot of rain, day and night during our time there.
The indoor meetings were blessed as we witnessed a lot of lost souls saved. Those who were bound in sin, and those bound with the spirits of the region being loosed. Many later gave testimonies of being deceived by false teachers.
HOUSE CHURCH MEETINGS:
We met in the home of Mr. Kephas with his elder son (Abdalah) and his wife ( Fatima). They had been staunch followers of the Muslim religion prior to us ministering to them on a previous visit when they made a radical conversion upon hearing the gospel message about the authority of Christ and the salvation found in Him. They were baptized and have been committed followers ever since. Mr, Kephas will be a good backup and helper for David Okanga.
In another meeting, a single-parent woman and her two children believed and surrendered their life to Jesus after hearing our gospel message of repentance, salvation, and the inerrancy of the Bible.
In another meeting, we prayed for healing for a woman who had a skin growth on her right elbow, she believed and was instantly healed and at a later meeting testified about the healing miracle she had received from God. She had suffered the disease for several years.
There were many testimonies of healing, and we witnessed many people being released from demonic oppression. Many gave powerful testimonies of their healing and deliverance.
We were thankful for the way God worked with and through the team to achieve much.
CHALLENGES:
We experienced bad weather, much rain. We also had a problem with our generator, which stopped working, which meant we had no lighting or microphones for much of our time there. Pray as we need help to get a new generator.
NEW HOUSE CHURCH FOUNDED:
It was very encouraging to see so many people give their lives to Christ. They are keen to stay under our teaching and support so supported the establishment of a new house church with our host Mr. David Okanga as its leader.
SORI can be seen on the edge of Lake Victoria. It is not too far from Migori where Charles is located. It is not shown on this map but is inland and close to the border of Tanzania which is shown on the map.
Below, on the left, Pastor Charles ministers the foundational message of the Genesis Story of Creation and The Fall to believers in the SORI house church which is on Lake Victoria. Charles kept the message simple as there was a large number of small children present.
Pastor Jacob ministered to believers about the message of Noah and the worldwide flood and how Jesus said that in the end times before His return that the world would be like it was during the days of Noah – lawlessness will abound.
Pastor Nyarumba is conducting water baptisms in a shallow stream of running water.
Pastor Julius ministered the gospel message to a single-parent woman with her children during one-on-one, house-to-house evangelism.

As my followers know I support the Kenya House Church Movement particularly to conduct Missions Trips once a month. As you have read in this report KHC needs a new generator and I would also like to get Charles a new vehicle. I am unable to personally fund these expenses so would appreciate help if you are able. I have included a Donations icon on my Home Page for this purpose.
As many of you know I support the Kenya House Church Movement in Kenya and have done so for three years now. Recently, I spent time with them to ensure they knew where we are in terms of Biblical history and the urgency of the hour in terms of the Great Commission. See my recent posts on “Africa Trip Report” and “More on My Africa Trip Report”.
Pastor Charles is on the far left.
The KHC Movement is committed to at least one Mission trip a month to remote rural communities. For May 2022, God led them to a small island, Aluru on Lake Victoria. What follows is a report from Pastor Charles on the trip.
“The Kenya House Church (KHC) mission trip to this small Island was in response to a request from Mr John Onyango and his wife Rachel. After much prayer and consideration, the holy spirit directed us to visit this family who for a long time have been living on this small Island, earning a living by fishing.
Mr. Onyango and his wife earlier last year attended one of our KHC discipleship meetings at Lidha house church. The couple after hearing our discipleship message were convicted and convinced in their hearts to have found Biblical reality. They asked us then if we would come and bring this message to the people on Aluru Island and have requested us to come several times since then.
Purpose of the Mission Trip: Discipleship & Evangelism.
Arrival date: 14th, May 2022, Departure date: 20th, May 2022
Hosts: Mr. & Mrs. John Onyango.
We held several indoor and outdoor meetings on the Island, and our evangelism team moved from house to house teaching, praying, and inviting families to attend our gospel meetings.
KHC arriving at Aluru Island for the discipleship mission trip
Charles praying for a sick gentleman, He has suffered from diabetes for 5 years, After hearing the gospel message on healing and wholeness, he accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour.
Pastor Seth conducting a water baptism of a new disciple. Our evangelism team ministered to this young woman who had separated from her husband seven years ago. She was living with her cousin and had a bad reputation because she lived a life of adultery, working and drinking In liquor lounges and at her cousin’s home. Our team ministered to her and she repented and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour.
This young boy had dropped out of school and run away from his father’s home to Aluru. He is involved in the fishing industry but living a depraved lifestyle including smoking opium. Having heard our gospel message of repentance and salvation, he surrendered his life and received Jesus Christ as his personal saviour. He agreed to be part of the newly founded Aluru house church, and he was given a bible.
A new house church group of 10 ten people at Aluru was founded, we were able to give them our discipleship teaching manual to help them in their further study. Mr John Onyango was appointed to be the leader of Aluru house church.
Having spent time with all of these pastors on my recent trip to Africa, I now feel more involved in the work they are doing in these remote rural areas of Kenya. Moreover, if you would like to help support the work we could do with more help particularly to get Pastor Charles mobile again. The transmission and motor of his Toyota waggon are beyond repair. You can donate on the Home Page just click on the Donations icon. All donors will be kept in the loop on what is being done with donor contributions.
Sad to learn that no one has responded positively to your two LEN posts on your recent trip to Africa. We were hoping that others would join you in supporting our mission trips to grow the House Church Movement in Kenya (KHC) and Tanzania.
It is difficult to understand why in almost 3 years of working together God has not prompted others to help you support the growth of the KHC movement. However, we must trust God regardless and press on in prayer, believing He is able to provide in whatever manner He chooses.
KHC UPCOMING MISSION TRIP:
As I had previously mentioned to you, KHC from May 14th to 20th will be going on a discipleship and evangelism mission trip to ALURU Island on Lake Victoria. Because of the higher cost of living on the island due to the transport costs, our budget for the trip is 80,000 Kshs. At the time of my writing, this report only 28,000 Kshs has been raised.
REQUEST: We are appealing and requesting brother Ron, LEN followers, brothers and sisters who may be reading this post to help support the KHC movement upcoming mission trip with Au$ 400.00
Your support/donations will be highly appreciated.
Praying for you ALL!

My Africa Trip was primarily to meet up with The Kenya House Church Movement leaders and I have already reported on the results of that meeting in two earlier posts entitled My Africa Trip Report and More on My Africa Trip Report. Hope you have time to look at those. It was truly a unique experience presenting PowerPoint presentations to 22 Kenya House Church leaders in a tin shed.
A previous pastor of mine in Sydney (David Owens) almost twenty years ago now is pastoring a Vineyard Church in Arusha. As it is only a one-hour flight from Nairobi, I asked David if I could come and spend a couple of days with him and Judy. One of those days was Sunday so David asked me to share with the church about what God is doing in my life now.
The pictures below show the size of the church building. It can typically house one hundred + people. Many expats but also locals make up the congregation.
David had a missionary friend, Tom visiting as well. He works with a U.S. Mission providing health services to the poor, so we both shared at the Sunday service, I felt led to show my Holy Spirit PowerPoint presentation which fitted well with the scripture Tom shared.
I had many come up to me after expressing appreciation for the message and David told me the feedback he had was positive as well. Thank you, Lord!
The original roof was thatched but it is now covered with sheet metal
The high thatched roof looks incredible

I had hoped to connect David with the Kenya House Church Movement to provide support and training but they both have a lot on their plate at the moment with the Vineyard Church leadership. Both David and Judy have in their heart a major project – Centre for Exploring Truth and Change similar to Dr. Francis Schaeffer’s L’Abri in Switzerland (Shelter for honest questions). It is already underway but they need partners who will commit prayer and money to the project. If you feel led and want to know more connect with David and Judy at owensinafrica@gmail .com
