DISCOVER THE GIDEON’S IN OUR DAY

I was reminded by this verse in Judges 6:1,  “And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years, just how often Israel was delivered by God into the hands of some foreign nation for judgement.
What about the church in our day? Is God delivering an apostate church into the hands of the enemy for judgement? God’s word reveals that there will be apostasy in the “last days” church  and that certainly is the case with many of the denominational churches compromising with the world’s values.
However, just as in the days Israel was delivered into the “hand of Midian”, God had his redemptive plan prepared and He chose Gideon a most unlikely candidate to achieve His purposes.
Who are the Gideon’s, God has chosen in our day?
When Gideon was called into action, Israel was in dire straits. Gideon had to winnow grain in secret just so the Midianites would not steal every little bit of food and sustenance from them. “Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. Judges 6:11(b)

Just as Gideon winnowed the wheat from the chaff, God winnowed Gideon’s army. God winnowed down a fighting force from 32,000 to three hundred. Those who were “afraid and trembling” were asked to leave first.  Cowards go first in Revelation also.  22,000 departed leaving Gideon with just 10,000 now to fight 120,000…outnumbered 12 to 1. God still said, The people are still too many; bring them down to the water and I will test them for you there.” Judges 7:4. God then rejected another 9,700 men with only THREE HUNDRED remaining. What a crazy story but we are meant to learn from it.

God winnowed for two main reasons:

1. So we know, we can’t save ourselves. And the Lord said to Gideon, ‘The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ Judges 7:2

2. God wants us to develop our faith and trust in Him as did Gideon.  David is another great example. Listen to David, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.” Proverbs 28:7  When your heart trusts in the Lord, you can expect help. God only needs 1 person to make 1,000 flee and 2 people to make 10,000 flee. It’s never been about “numbers” with God.

Who are the leaders in the church today who are bold and courageous, who understand that the battle is the Lords and numbers aren’t a problem? They are those who believe God’s inerrant Word,  know we are in the “end times”, know God’s call on their lives and get on with the job, trusting God for the outcome. We need to work with these anointed leaders, confident in our own role in God’s “end times” plan.
Let me name a few humble leaders that I have identified as Kingdom warriors who understand the times: Francis Chan, http://www.wearechurch.com; Torben Sondergaad, http://www.thelastreformation.com; Nelson Walters, http://www.gospelintheendtimes.com; Don Batten, http://www.creation.com; Joel Richardson, http://www.joelstrumpet.com; Alan Kurschner, http://www.alankurschner.com, Jeffrey Daly, http://www.dayofrepentance1.org

AGE IS NOT A BARRIER IN GOD’S KINGDOM

Quit saying, ‘I am getting older.’ the Holy Spirit in you is ageless. Allow Him to quicken your mortal body and soar with the eagles. Many of you know I am in my eighties. God initiated my latest ministry project http://www.powerpointsermons.net when I turned eighty. Both of my books: Build a Kingdom Business and Living Eternal Now have a sub heading “Empowered by the Holy Spirit” and were written in my seventies.

“Wisdom is with the elderly, and understanding comes with long life.” You have more wisdom now than ever. With years comes understanding.” Job 12:12. Caleb when he reached 85 years, said to the Lord, “I am as strong now as when I was forty, and I want to take another mountain!” Many of God’s heroes started their ministry when they reached 80.

Moses, Joshua, Caleb. Why is that? Maybe, it is then that we know we can’t do it in our own strength and God is certain to get the glory.

Psalm 68:28 says, “Your God has commanded your strength.” God is commanding His strength into you! ”

Our older years are when we are in our prime to be used and bring forth fruit.

Psalm 91:16 says, “With long life I will satisfy [you] and show [you[ My salvation.”

What prompted this post is a prophecy I came across by Bill Yount. Bill has authored several prophetic books. His latest book is: The Power of Real / Transparent Prophetic Encouragement.

A Word to the Kingdom’s Older Stars

I sense the Lord saying, “The older stars in My kingdom are going to shine brighter and do greater exploits than ever before!” I sense there is a special anointing coming upon older men and women in the Body of Christ. God is not through using you. Your age is not against you, it is for you. Job 12:12 says, “Wisdom is with the elderly, and understanding comes with long life.” You have more wisdom now than ever. With years comes understanding.

This anointing is going to cause you to live longer. Many of you have not planned to live long enough. It will be an anointing similar to Caleb when he reached 85 years. He said to the Lord, “I am as strong now as when I was forty, and I want to take another mountain!” There is coming a “spiritual fountain of youth” into your midst, a renewing, a release of God’s strength. Psalm 68:28 says, “Your God has commanded your strength.” God is commanding His strength into you! One translation says, “Your God has decided you will be strong!”

Many of You Are Going to Have to Live Longer

Many of you are going to have to live longer because God is not through using you. Many of you are going to go into a second “childhood” in the Spirit. You will be reactivated by God to live out your dreams that you are just dreaming about right now. People and relatives will laugh and say, “You are going to do what? You are going to go where? At your age?” But that anointing is going to rise up within you to take mountains, to do exploits, to run and not be weary, to walk and not faint (see Isa. 40:31).

There is an anointing coming upon God’s people to live longer. The joy of the Lord which is our strength is lengthening our days upon the earth.
