THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT

Tribulation is ahead for Born Again Believers who uphold Biblical inerrancy and therefore God’s moral values. Moreover, the apostasy we see playing out in the world today was prophesied by God to occur in the “end times” prior to Jesus’ return to this earth.

Clergywoman marrying two males

The sanctity of marriage was established in the beginning, in Genesis. Gay marriage is law in many countries in total opposition to God.

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.Genesis 2:24

Homosexuality is an abomination to God who made males and females and defined their roles and the institution of marriage. They along with many other sinners will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.1 Corinthians 6:9-10

The following Scripture shows us that Paul and those with him experienced intense tribulation when they went to Asia. What is important for us to note is what God did in response. Also, note Paul’s request for prayer and why; “so many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many”.

For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction (tribulation) we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On Him, we have set our hope that He will deliver us again. You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.2 Corinthians 1:8-11

We should not be fearful of the coming tribulation. Why? Because God will comfort His children who are in any affliction or tribulation.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.2 Corinthians 1:3-4

WHY IS LAWLESSNESS ERUPTING IN THE USA?

The Barna Cultural Research Centre report found that only 6% of Americans adhere to a biblical worldview.

Sixty percent of Americans do not believe that human life is inherently “sacred”. The word “sacred” is defined by the researchers as “having unconditional, intrinsic worth.” However, more than two-thirds believe human beings are “basically good.”

We would argue that seeing humans as “basically good” runs “counter to the foundational biblical teaching that human beings are created by God and made in His image but are fallen and in need of redemption.

George Barna, who founded the Barna Group, said in a statement that the view of mankind being “basically good” is negatively influencing current debates over law enforcement and systemic racism. “A movement to defund police departments might make sense if people are innately good. People with a humanistic worldview argue that crime and violence happen because of poverty, bad parenting, systemic discrimination, and other external forces,” stated Barna. “Yet crime statistics, political tensions, tendencies toward anger and hatred, and America’s moral deterioration and confusion suggest that we are neither innately good nor that emotional responses to empirical challenges will solve the problems.” Barna went on to argue that one “cannot change the hearts of people by outlawing racism.

Riots in USA cities

“You will not create peace by passing laws and forcing compliance,” Barna contended. Every society can benefit from specific systemic changes, but any systemic changes designed to transform the culture will be short-lived unless the hearts and minds of the people who populate that system are transformed first with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

TOUGH MESSAGE FOR CHRISTIANS

I may lose some followers with this post, but so be it. This post is an edit of Jeffrey Daly’s (National Day of Repentance) letter to Christian Warriors – http://www.repentday.com
When modern day Mega-preachers tell us that you are supposed to “hang out” with sinners, that is false teaching. It results in chaos and disorder. We are to call sinners to repentance, just like Jesus did. If, after we give the message, they don’t want anything to do with repentance, here’s the scripture for that:

If anyone will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that place, as a testimony against them.
~ Mark 6:11

When we align ourselves with evil-doers, we don’t advance the cause of Christ.  We simply get the world’s muck on us.  Soon we become indistinguishable from the world, “unsalty” salt only good for trampling underfoot.

Even worse, when we “befriend” the world, we actually become ENEMIES OF GOD!
Adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.  James 4:4

As Paul passed his mantle to Timothy, his words still bless us today with Holy Spirit-filled guidance for addressing sinners:

And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by Him to do His will.  2 Timothy 2:24-26
So, instead of attempting to make “friends,” let’s… GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS IN CHRIST’S NAME!
Still not convinced, here are some more Scriptures:
1. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?  2 Corinthians 6:14
2. I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people. 1 Corinthians 5:9
3. Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.  Ephesians 5:11
4. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. Psalm 1:1
5. I do not sit with deceitful men, nor will I go with pretenders. Psalm 26:4
6. I hate the assembly of evildoers, And I will not sit with the wicked. Psalm 26:5
Thus, scripture does NOT teach us that Jesus is a “friend of sinners.” He came to CALL SINNERS TO REPENTANCE!
7. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Luke 5:32
