MISSIONARY COMMUNITIES

Repost of Missional Communities from kingdomink.com – check it out.

There is a reformation taking place and it is in the form of Missionary Communities! God is bringing us back to the relational aspect of the Christian faith! Togetherness, eating together with great love and fellowship for the body, being joined together in community and not just going to a Sunday service and going back home! It’s here!! The disciples in the first century were so one that they would greet one another with a holy kiss! I’m here to say that this reformation is the year of the Holy kiss! There is an intimate place of relational fellowship coming back! Within this fellowship there is a strong focus on mission “doing the stuff” snatching souls for the kingdom, healing the sick, the prophetic, discipleship, eating together and listening to the Holy Spirit to change cities, towns and nations!

The destiny of the Church is directly tied to how passionate she remains to her mission. -Mike Breen

Apart from the Sunday service a Missional Community is designed and formed of core leaders that do life together throughout the week, they are a family on a mission with a focus to change the city! They take care of One another because church is family and family takes care of each other. They spend time together and get to know each other. This is what the Holy Spirit wants! He wants us to be connected together as family, we don’t get that aspect of relationship just from attending a Sunday service. Deep down inside we all desire Community! Community is deeply rooted in the nature of God, when we are in relationship with each other we see Gods image in its full expression! We get to see the full movement of His body functioning! The new man is spiritual His very purpose is within His new creation!

In Acts 2:42-47 We get a glimpse of what it looked like to be family on mission within a Community.

Every believer was faithfully devoted to following the teachings of the apostles. Their hearts were mutually linked to one another, sharing communion and coming together regular for prayer. A deep sense of Holy awe swept over everyone, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. All the believers were in fellowship as one body, and they shared with one another whatever they had. Out of generosity they even sold their assets to distribute the proceeds to those who were in need among them. Daily they met together in the temple courts and in one another’s homes to celebrate communion. They shared meals together with joyful hearts and tender humility. They were continually filled with praises to God, enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord kept adding to their number daily those who were coming to life.

So in essence God is bringing us back to relationship (the holy kiss spiritually speaking) so that we can walk in togetherness as one body. Through this I believe denominational boundaries will be destroyed, we are focused on the mission not the division. Some may ask how will this be done? It will be the working of the Holy Spirit! Denominations sever relationship and cause divisions. The apostle Paul said to the church in Ephesus to be “longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace for there is one body” Eph 4:-2-4

So what’s it gonna take? The Holy Spirit and Relationship! You don’t just stop talking to family if you have a disagreement, you accept them because they are family, how much more being believers in Christ!!

I have a dream that countless churches will be transformed from high-powered business organisations into spiritual families- Authentic Christ-centred communities- where the members know one another intimately, love one another unconditionally, bleed for one another deeply, and rejoice with one another unfailingly. -Frank Viola
