DEFENDING THE INERRANCY OF SCRIPTURE

Defending the inerrancy of scripture can be a challenging task for the unprepared Christian. In the world today, there is no shortage of critical voices speaking out against the authority of scripture. Even within Christendom, some seem determined to undermine the bible’s inerrancy in every instance. Therefore, Christians need to be equipped to defend, not only their faith but also the scriptures upon which the only true religion is based upon.

I highly recommend Poythress’ book Inerrancy and The Gospels. to anyone desiring to understand the harmonization of the gospels better. The book is largely broken up into two sections. The first is centered on the basic principles for studying harmonization, and the second examines specific gospel problem texts. I found the principles section to be the most useful part of the book. It creates a brilliant groundwork for the reader to approach the gospels in a logical, practical, and faithful way.

The practical nature of the principles was a relief. I have read numerous works on textual criticism, commentaries, etc. They have their place and are useful. Yet, it is easy to get lost in them. However, the basic principles laid forth in Poythress’ book are accessible to almost any believer.

Poythress reminds us of the complete trustworthiness of scripture, and the importance of remembering historical, narrative context. As Christians, we are called to trust God and His written word. If we find what appears to be a contradiction, our first response should be to remember that the problem lies not with the text, but with us.

As mentioned, the second half of the book focuses on logic and a handful of specific examples of gospel problem texts – such as The Rich Young Ruler and Blind Bartimaeus. This section is useful and interesting as a reference tool to study specific texts. However, for me, the deep value of the book is found in the principles.

I highly recommend Poythress’ book to all Christians. Defending the inerrancy of scripture is not a hard task when we have the right tools and worldview to accompany it. Poythress’ principles to study the harmonization of the gospels are fantastic and worth the price of the book.

IN QUEST OF THE HISTORICAL ADAM

In the last few years, apologist William Lane Craig has attacked biblical (‘young earth’) creation. However, he is not enamoured with many of the other compromise views. In 2021, he published a book, In Quest of the Historical Adam. He concluded that Adam and Eve were a real original couple who gave rise to all humans, and who committed the first acts of sin. But they were a pair of Homo heidelbergensis who lived perhaps 750,000 years ago. Dr. Jonathan Sarfati and Keaton Halley of Creation Ministries International offer their analysis of Craig’s book.

They do an excellent job of critiquing Craig’s book. God’s Bible is inerrant. It clearly provides evidence for a young earth and this video will help you support that view. GOD IS WITH YOU WHEREVER YOU GO

Think about how Joshua felt when God told him to lead the Israelites into Canaan, drive out the pagan inhabitants, and secure the land as a homeland for His people.

In the natural, this would seem to be an impossible task but the key of course is revealed in the following Scripture:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

God does not commission us without the promise of His presence and provision. We only have to be “strong and of good courage.”

How would you like to be Noah, being told to build an enormous boat as God was going to destroy every living creature on the earth save those on this boat Noah was to build. We are simply told that “Noah did this; he did all that God had commanded him” Genesis 6:22

How Long Was the Ark?

At approximately 510 feet long, it would take nearly one and a half football fields to equal the Ark’s length. That’s big enough that NASA could lay three space shuttles—nose to tail—on the Ark’s roof!

How Long Was the Ark?

How Tall Was the Ark?

The roof of Noah’s Ark was more than 50 feet from the ground—higher than a modern four-story house. That’s plenty of space for three extra-tall inner decks as the Bible describes.

How Tall Was the Ark?
Truckloads of Cargo Space

The Ark had the same storage capacity as about 450 standard semi-trailers. A standard livestock trailer holds about 250 sheep, so the Ark had the capacity to hold at least 120,000 sheep.

And God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits. Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks. For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die. But I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ark to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female. Of the birds according to their kinds, and of the animals according to their kinds, of every creeping thing of the ground, according to its kind, two of every sort shall come in to you to keep them alive. Also take with you every sort of food that is eaten, and store it up. It shall serve as food for you and for them.” Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.” Genesis 6:13-22

Are you confident that God is with you wherever you go? He will be if you are obedient to His commands. Moreover, you will know if you are not being obedient because you will experince His discipline. What form that takes varies widely but repentance is required to get you back on track. This is a word usually not spoken of in apostate churches.

Do you want times of refreshing from the Lord? If you do then repent.

GREAT COMMISSION UNDER THREAT

In 2015, Michelle Higgins, a Black pastor and organizer, stood up before tens of thousands of people at a popular evangelical conference in St Louis, Missouri, and told them that, as she put it, “mission work was really an exercise in exporting racism, and that evangelicalism was a moral protection for white supremacy.”

Higgins criticized the pro-life movement as “a big spectacle” on Monday in St. Louis where 16,000 evangelical Christian students gathered together.

Today, her criticisms are gaining ground. “For the last five hundred years, Christianity has been influenced by Martin Luther’s effort to decentralize the church,” Lisa Sharon Harper, the founder of a progressive evangelical religious group freedomroad.us, told me. “For the next five hundred years, the principle effort will be decolonization.”

More important than how Harper and others conceive of the last 500 years is what they predict for the ensuing 500: decolonization. And this is necessitated because of what has happened over the past half-millennia (or, at least, since 1619), the global project of white supremacy: “mission work was really an exercise in exporting racism, and that evangelicalism was a moral protection for white supremacy.” There you have it.

These are arid and divisive ideas, ones that are infecting certain quadrants of American Christianity. Left unchecked, they will cause problems for Christian fulfillment of the Great Commission.

UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH -THERE IS A HELL

Jesus is the only way to heaven, hell is a real destination for those that don’t trust in Him,. How many people do you interact with every month that are on the road to eternal separation from God in Hell?

The existence of Hell is a painful, uncomfortable, but honest truth. So, here’s the million dollar question: what are we doing about it? What are we willing to do about it?

Who in your family and what friends will not join you in the first resurrection? It takes place when Jesus returns to rapture, first those dead in Christ, and then those Saints still living. At this time, we receive bodies capable of living eternally.

Remember unbelievers souls remain in Hades for a thousand years before they are raised for judgement at the White Throne Judgement. Following which they are cast into the Lake of Fire which is the second death.

Death and Hades delivered up the dead that were in them. And they were judged each one according to his works.Revelation 20:13

Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Jesus is the only way to God, Jesus is God, if you believe in Jesus you shall not perish. But if you don’t place your trust in Jesus, then you will perish. Jesus talks about this eternal perishing as second death in the Lake of Fire.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.Romans 6:23.

“The truly righteous man attains life, but He who pursues evil goes to his death.” Proverbs 11:19

Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.James 1:14

Jesus said, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.Matthew 10:28

That’s why the resurrection of Jesus is so central. He performed miracle after miracle, proving he was divine, including the ultimate miracle, when he rose from the dead, validating every exclusive claim he made about himself. So, when other religions honour Jesus as a prophet or a good teacher, but not the Son of God, they are not placing their trust in Jesus for forgiveness and salvation, and Jesus himself said he’s the only way to heaven.

Sadly, because the Bible is no longer believed to be the inerrant word of God, largely due to the acceptance of evolution by Bible Colleges and some denominations such as the Catholics and Anglicans, the creation story in Genesis is no longer believed as true history. Once the foundational book of the Bible was toppled other truths such as Jesus is the only way to God went as well, certainly with the Catholics.

Can I suggest you connect with http://www.creation.com to get equipped to witness to your family and friends, to defend your faith, and deliver the gospel message in a compelling way to those that have swallowed the lie of evolution and billions of years and therefore jettisoned God’s Word.

GOD’S WORD STUDIED IN THE WHITE HOUSE

An atheist activist group, Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) is suing the federal government over the allegation that Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson is “dodging records requests relating to a White House bible study.”

FFRF PRESS RELEASE: “According to reports, the Trump administration holds weekly bible study sessions at the White House. FFRF is seeking the records to determine whether or not the bible study uses government resources, whether staffers may feel coerced into organising or even participating in the religious event, and to ascertain government access granted to Capitol Ministries, a group that seeks to evangelise elected officials.

The Bible study is a rarity in government, and, according to Drollinger, a similar study among cabinet members potentially hasn’t happened in over a century. The weekly Bible study in question has been “making history.” Drollinger told CBN News in an interview last year that participants — some of the most powerful people in government — are “godly individuals that God has risen to a position of prominence in our culture.”

The participating secretaries include: CIA Director Mike Pompeo, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Purdue, EPA head Rick Perry, Secretary of Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“[Jeff Sessions will] go out the same day I teach him something and I’ll see him do it on camera and I just think, ‘Wow, these guys are faithful, available and teachable and they’re at Bible study every week they’re in town,’” Drollinger said.

The Bible Study is apparently co-sponsored by Vice President Mike Pence. The list of bible study attendees includes officials whose appointments FFRF objected to because of their inability to keep their personal religion separate from their public office: Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, CIA Director Mike Pompeo, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, and, of course, Secretary Ben Carson, the surgeon whom President Trump tapped to run Housing and Urban Development. (Trump himself rarely makes an appearance.)”

The Bible study, in particular, has been an area of interest for the FFRF due to the fact that Ralph Drollinger of Capitol Ministries, the man who leads it, has reportedly made controversial past statements about about Catholicism as well as women legislators.

He reportedly called Catholicism “one of the primary false religions of the world” and wrote the following about female politicos:

It is one thing for a mother to work out of her home while her children are in school. It is quite another matter to have children in the home and live away in Sacramento for four days a week. Whereas the former could be in keeping with the spirit of Proverbs 31, the latter is sinful.”

SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE FOR A YOUNG EARTH

Is the earth billions of years old or six thousand as the Bible claims? Is it important?

Suffering and death before Adam is a major problem. Death and suffering in the world was the result of Adam and Eve’s SIN. This new short video is excellent and will give you ammunition to handle these questions. For more information you need to go to http://www.creation.com.

PROPHESIED LAST DAYS EVENTS – PROOF THE BIBLE IS INFALLIBLE AND INERRANT

The California Assembly approved a bill 50-18 that tells churches and other[s] with traditional beliefs about gender and sexual orientation that advocating for their views could get them sued.

AB 2943, declares ‘advertising, offering to engage in or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual’ is illegal under state’s consumer fraud law.” Note carefully the vote in the Assembly was 50 to 18 in favour of the bill. Talk about insane.

On April 17, David French noted that this bill “would actually—among other things—ban the sale of books expressing orthodox Christian beliefs about sexual morality. “Yes, ban the sale of books. What about banning the best selling book of all time – The Bible?

Perhaps those truly born again in the church will now see the utter intolerance of the radical left, but we know from Scripture that in the last days there will be a great falling away in the church. Jesus said, that even the elect will be deceived.

Thank goodness for Bible Prophecy, which besides being the ultimate truth of Holy Spirit inspiration of God’s Word, it tells us that when we see the events that are unfolding in our time, that we are approaching the last seven years prior to Jesus return (Daniels 70th Week). In the Olivet Discourse, Jesus tells us that Christians will experience tribulation and even see the Antichrist, “Therefore, when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place ” (Matthew 24:15).

Are we ready? Is the church even talking about these end times prophecies and the coming tribulation?

“DARKNESS IS DESCENDING ON OUR REGION”, NETANYAHU WARNS

Speaking before the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference in Washington Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of a clear and present danger facing the world: the threat of a nuclear Iran. It was good to hear him quote Scripture  – the Book of Esther.

“Darkness is descending on our region,” Netanyahu warned, naming “radical tyranny” as the force behind Tehran’s quest to build an “aggressive empire” that includes Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Yemen and more—all in a quest to seek Israel’s destruction.

He condemned President Obama’s 2015 Iran nuclear agreement and said Iran its proxies are looking for ways to attack Israel.

“Last week, we read in the Book of Esther about an earlier Persian attempt to exterminate our people. They failed then. They’ll fail now.”

“In addition to moving its army, its air force, its navy to Syria to be able to attack Israel from closer hand—it’s also seeking to develop, to build precision-guided missile factories in Syria, Lebanon against Israel. I will not let that happen,” he vowed, before praising President Donald Trump for his firm stance against a nuclear Iran.

“President Trump has made it clear that his administration will not accept Iran’s aggression in the region. He has made clear that he too will never accept a nuclear-armed Iran. That is the right policy. I salute President Trump on this,” Netanyahu said.

“And the president has also made it clear that if the fatal flaws of the nuclear deal are not fixed, he will walk away from the deal and restore sanctions,” he added. “Israel will be right there by America’s side, and let me tell you, so will a hundred countries in the region.

Netanyahu concluded by reminding those present that the “wellspring” of the U.S. and Israel’s enduring friendship was their shared values, under girded by a strong faith in God.

“They come from a certain book—a great book, a good book. It’s called the Bible,” Netanyahu told the audience. “It says that all of us are created in the image of God.”

“These values are an inseparable part of America’s story,” he continued. “They’re an inseparable part of Israel’s story. And today we’re writing a new chapter of our common story—a story of freedom, of justice, of peace, of hope.”

“And it’s because we’re inspired by the same ideas because we’re animated by the same values that America and Israel have forged, an eternal bond that can never ever be broken,” he said.

HOW GOD IS DEALING WITH NATIONS IN THESE LAST DAYS

You will need 40 minutes for this worthwhile teaching from Lance Wallnau with Andrew Womack on God dealing with nations. We readily understand that God deals with individuals but we don’t often think of God dealing with nations and Kings. Yet, God established His own nation, Israel, for His purposes and we know that Jesus will rule and reign from Jerusalem “on the throne of David”. The Bible is clear, Jesus has unfinished business with Israel.

Lance predicted Trump would be elected and why he was elected – He is God’s “wrecking ball”, God ‘s Cyrus.

Did you know, God not only appoints leaders of nations but also determines a nations boundaries? Also, what God says about sheep and goat nations is illuminating. “All the nations will be gathered  before Him, and He will separate them one from another…” Matthew 25:32
